What really woke me up and is still a great concern of mine is the hate from his church. It is revolting. When I was unhappy with the direction my church appeared to be heading, I started to attend Sunday Mass in other parishes.

The fact that mrs Obama has been cited for comments that seemed less than brilliant makes me think that they are on the same page and that is not the page that they are reading to the nation.

What we continue to learn about Obama’s truthfulness is disheartening. He’s now had to ‘modify’ a number of very sensitive previous positions, but only when he’s caught with his pants down! And, when he’s caught in a clear lie, he and his supporters attempt to justify his actions, or that of his pastor, as acceptable ‘black’ culture. This is very sad indeed. Here's the thing. Everyone is entitled to their own platform. In Obama's case, we don't know what that is. I think the whole Democratic Party has gone off the map. Nothing their candidates say seems to matter to them. I also watched the piece you did on the black church conference. It was reported that the delegation realized that their message hasn't gotten outside the church enough. Well according to Sen. Obama, it hasn't really gotten inside the church! Which is it? There is only one thing that is clear with Obama; which is that this guy is highly trained in public speaking and body language. I am fearful for this country and with good reason. As I see it, Senator Obama's problem is much bigger than Rev. Wright. There is a pattern of disturbing associations and political positions here. Beyond that is the primary question of leadership. He takes no responsibility for any of his positions, be it church choice or paperwork stating his positions. What kind of political leader allows a staff member to misrepresent his positions to the public without bothering to correct it? Would a true leader sit for twenty years of hate speech without speaking up if he disagreed? Eloquence and charisma do not automatically equal a great leader. At some point we have to decide whether we are being sold a beautifully worded bill of goods with less than desirable consequences. I suggest we all start paying attention to what Senator Obama isn't saying rather than what he is. He isn't saying he never heard offensive statements by Rev. Wright, he says he never heard "some of these particular ones". Nobody has asked what types of offensive statements he did hear. What we have here is a typical politician who is saying and doing whatever it takes to get elected. And he is doing it under the " I'm not typical Washington DC" umbrella, aided by mainstream media. As the campaign moves along, it is becoming increasingly obvious that Obama is very good at speaking from both sides of his mouth and taking zero responsibility for it. I believe Senator Obama and his campaign advisors are "playing" the media very well and its working so far. He comes across as personable and bright but he doesn't seem to be honest and clean. Too many negatives from the past keep popping up that are consistently not fully explained and addressed. His campaign seems to be too "managed" for me. I want sincerity and trust in my president. His kind of CHANGE is not what most Americans want but what liberals hunger for.
Hillary and Barack, is this the best the democrats can offer? If so, its no wonder why the Democrat Party has been out of touch for so long and in such a state of decline. A black man who is educated and articulate, still some people find this hard to believe judging from some of the comments. That's sad. The reality is, we cannot afford another four years of the Bush-McCain administation---the middle and lower class will not survive financially. this is off the subject but why is red eye on fox news its gross ive watched fox since it came on air 24-7 and never changed channel until this year there were 2 new shows i think one went off havent seen it lately i have been waiting for red eye to go but when it comes on i turn to cnn i didn't think fox would ever allow such trash on the air i dont care if it is at weird time of day they are not funny,not informative,but they are nasty,trashy, promoting gays and just something not worth hearing for anyone so please sack the trash thanks janet

I think most adult Americans, particularly conservatives, are mature enough to eliminate race and gender from this equation. I think most would vote for Colin or Condoleeza in a heartbeat, particularly given the slate of candidates we're faced with in 2008, so let's just leave the stereotyping out of it and deal with real issues.
Most policiticians will say whatever it takes to get them elected. Integrity is not a part of their fabric. But the values we DO want in a president include loyalty to The United States of America. We also want some sort of consistency in beliefs so that we have a clue what we're in for. Most third graders could pass that test.

It seems that some folks on this blog will not vote for Barack because he is black, and others will vote for him because he is black. That doesn't make much sense, especially when you consider that every one of us has some black blood in them somewhere in their ancestry.
What truly amazes me, though, is the number of people who think that being black somehow makes you infallible. A person is a PERSON period. If a black commits a crime (and some do) the outcry is, 'The white man is against us!' When a white commits a crime, it's justice. I don't get it.
I had a phone call from a (black) friend this morning. We were discussing a recent spate of weekend gunpoint robberies. Her only rationale was that the economy is so bad, gas and food are so expensive, well, duh, it's just as expensive for me as for anyone else but I don't have to stick a gun in someone's face to steal their hardearned money. I drive my wracked-out car, wear old clothes, eat what I can afford, have stopped going out for two reasons: can't afford to, and the crime has gotten too scary.

Alvin, I've had the same thoughts as you. Just where is this guy getting his money from? And Who is behind him? It just doesn't seem possible that such a newcomer could raise this much money and build a machine that throws its weight around in caucus states without some force behind him. My father is from Kenya. He has 44 years in this country as African born immigrants. Was any member of his family a slave, pick cotton, die in the military, been or part of NAACP and civil right movement? Can he celebrate Black History Month? What has his father done for the blacks in this country? Did he serve in the military to fight for the freedom of Americans? Obama has silent the voices of all civil right leaders. They are afraid to speak out because he would scream racist. If he wins he would be the first African immigrant president of US. I waited 67 years to vote for a African American man or woman. I am not going to insult my black ancestors by voting for African born immigrant. This is not a change.
