Is Cheney Right In His Accusation of Obama Breaking His Promise Not to Prosecute CIA Agents?

What a pity that anyone would believe anything this President says, he has never had a job in his life, never made a decision on his own, never run even a candy store, and this is what we get as President. Being a Community Organizer(think Acorn) does not constitute a job, it only shows how crooked these organizers are. This is what the Internet has done for us, it helped elect this man.

Dick Cheney is exactly right about Obama and it is time the American people realize what we have in the White House, Obama's administration is made up of Chicago thugs, shows you what type of people he associates with, then of course we knew this during the campaign, dangerous.

    Wake up America

. Cheney and his little pet monkey George. Thought that they were above the constitution. Remember he said he was not part of the Executive branch. They ran an administration of nothing but lies. Cheney can not give up his power. Dick why don‘t you go sit in a corner and shut up like your little monkey is doing.

  • Jimmy - 15 years ago

Of course he is breaking this promise. Not that that is news. And going after the CIA, to me, seems like a very bad thing to do. This is after all the Central Intelligence Agency. It's their job to find dirty secrets. And it'll be interesting to see just what dirty secrets get "leaked" to the press by some "high-level, un-named government official." Also, as some of the other comments I saw earlier said, the CIA is one of the Agencies that helps keep America secure. What's next, prosecuting Soldiers for killing insurgents? Oh wait, we've already done that one.

  • Bob - 15 years ago

It's evident that most cheerleaders for Cheney on here have no clue about how the justice department is supposed to work. Gonzales cheose to make it a political arm of the Bush/Cheney White House. They also would know that Obama did not want to pursue charges against CIA torturers and move on. It was his Attorney General who looked at the evidence and decided to proceed. That's the way government is supposed to work - not like it did under Bush/Cheney where they fabricated information to start a war against Iraq while Bin Laden slipped away.

Cheney, as usual, is wrong and a liar.

  • American Voter - 15 years ago

I never trusted Obama when he was campaigning...and after his comment 'above my pay grade', his principles or lack thereof were in question. So any 'promises' he made rang hollow.

His performance to-date has been lack luster, at best, and to think he is going to turn the corner, and the American "thinking' voters/public now knows his capabilities. Unless he changes his ideology (which will not happen) not sure if the American public will give him another pass.

The neocons were pushing for a war in Iraq long before they gained the White House. The administration paid little attention to warnings of the attack and the thorough briefing made by the Clinton administration on Osama Bin Laden. Bush used known faulty intelligence as a way to lie to the American people about nuclear activity in Iraq He pushed the yellow-cake issue several times, including his State of the Union address. It appeared to me that this tactic was used to build fear. He pulled the WMD investigative team out of Iraq before their final report. Interestingly, after sending 4000 Americans to their death, more than 30,000 to serious injury, killing many thousands and displacing millions of civilians, finding no nuclear activity, and no weapons of mass destruction, big oil companies wound up with about 60% of Iraq's oil. The administration "privatized" contractors and mercenaries about 180,000 strong working for companies which drew huge profits from their no-bid contracts, and in some cases, fraud. In numerous cases these personnel were out-of-control, committed crimes, and were whisked back to the states to avoid prosecution for crimes that military personnel would face for the same kind of activity. Several military personnel were electrocuted as the result of privatized incompetence. In addition, National Guard troops pulled three, four and five tours of duty which were longer than tours for regular service personnel and had very detrimental effects on personnel as well as their families.
Cheney, the fellow who had better things to do and received five deferments, kept old Army field manuals that were withdrawn and supposed to be destroyed to help mete out torture techniques -- techniques which were against the Geneva Convention and had been outlawed by the Pentagon and Congress. In some cases, the torture actually interrupted productive intelligence gathering by trained interrogators. Everyone I've read about regarding interrogation techniques state that torture is not the most effective way to gather intelligence. And, I don't believe that water boarding a person hundreds of times, contrary to Cheney's pathetic assertions, produced any significant intelligence that would save lives, etc., etc., etc.
If anyone should be investigated it should not be CIA officers . The investigations should be centered on Cheney, Rumsfeld, the lawyers who facilitated torture, and others who much more than likely committed war crimes.

  • Don - 15 years ago

Oh, yes. In addition, Cheney hounded the CIA for information that would support the neocon idealogy, and has been reported to have received raw intelligence -- without appropriate analysis.

  • Jacamina - 15 years ago

Obama should stick to his promise to look forward and not backwards. I'm glad that the CIA did whatever possible to keep us safe since 911. Nothing that the CIA did, to me, was against any law. They weren't dealing with common criminals; they were dealing with TERRORIST! These terrorist's didn't care about our rights, freedoms or liberties. They have always hated the West and they always will!!!!

Obama, Pelosi and Reid (the whole group of thugs) have a habit of using diversions to lure the American People away from their dirty deeds. Obama needs to clean up his house of thugs (Czars and everyone else who graciously take taxpayers money). Obama's cabinet, democratic congress are all thugs, liars and tax cheats. Get rid of Rangle -- he is a liar. QUIT USING THE RACE CARD!! It doesn't work anymore. Leave our CIA alone, Obama. Have your buddy Holden investigate Van and the other anti-american Czars you have assigned. Get rid of Van and a few others and then--and I mean only then--you will be able to gain a small portion of respect from the American people. Clean up OUR WHITE HOUSE and get rid of all the scum that doesn't like the American way or the American people. Hats off to our CIA!!!! You have our support!!!

  • Diana - 15 years ago

Chaney is correct!!!!!!!!!! The American people need to wake up and realize the only reason Obama is so interested in healthcare is to try to make us all think he cares. If he cared he would find his way to the White House and act like a president instead of staying on tv and anywhere he thinks he can find someone that will listen to him. He is dodging his duties and wants to point fingers back to before his time to keep us from seeing he knows nothing about being a president, If we are attacked again while he is in office the only way he will know is if he gets the heads up on a telepromter. Things past are just that past and dwelling and accusing will not change anything but finding the White House and moving on would work a lot better. We need a president that worries more about the AMERICAN CITIZENS and less about what to do to make life better for the illegals and the terrorist in GITMO. I didn't see any of those who lost their lives what they wanted or if they were being cruely. Remember they were just living their lives like they did day after day and was not thinking about terrorist. We seem to have forgotten those that died on 9/11 and the torture their family members have lived everyday. But Obama has more to worry about by making sure the terrorist are kept safe and comfortable.
People we all need to realize that our President doesn't care about the American people, he only wants to make sure we have no social security, no medical that is worth anything, and give it all to the illegals and terrrorist. I am just thankfull we have never had another president like him. He is truely not for the American people and enjoy your time here for freedom of speech because I am sure that too shall pass.
If I were a CIA agent I would be looking for a job and out of the reach of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and of course President Obama. Maybe if they diguise themselves as prisoners at GITMO they will be okay. We have those in this world that want to ruin the US and unfortunetly they are all in Washington except our president. (he can't seem to find it).

  • Nancy Hanks - 15 years ago

Dick Chaney has once again crawled out from under his rock to snear at the President and all of us. Why does he just not go away! He is responsible for the deaths of thousands of young americans. I hope he can not sleep at night. What an evil man

  • Jeff Kayser - 15 years ago

This whole thing stinks like everything else Obama has done. To begin with it's really just a distraction from what's going on with his healthcare plan. Secondly, While I don't philosphically agree with torture I'm not sure waterboarding should be considered torture in the first place. And let's remember who we're talking about, the mastermind of 9/11 who orchestrated the killing of over 3,000 Americans. These people don't live by our rules, they hate America and want to destroy it. They will continue to do so whether we change our tactics or not. Leave the CIA alone and let them do what they were designed to do which is to protect our country!!

I DONT REALLY THINK THIS INVESTIGATION OF THE CIA WILL GO ANYWHERE. TO BE HONEST I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO DOES DECIDE TO INVESTIGATE THE CIA AGAINST THEIR WILL. TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST ALL WHO ARE INVOLVED WITH INVESTIGATING THE CIA ARE UNAMERICAN AND UNPATRIOTIC. THOSE WHO ARE INVOLVED WITH CRIMINALIZING AN AGENCY THAT IS MEANT TO PROTECT THE UNITED STATES ARE DIGGING THEIR OWN GRAVES SO GO AHEAD KEEP DIGGING YOU WONT LAST LONG WHEN U FACE THE CIA!

  • VegasFletch - 15 years ago

Former Vice President Cheney is exactly right about his views about the Obama Administration's obvious "Political" tactics. Those tactics will have an adverse effect on the C.I.A. and their morale. Think in terms of you being an Agent with the C.I.A. and you are tasked to provide Interrogation techniques to other Agents and NOW you may not trust the Decisions thinking that some MORON PRESIDENT THAT GETS ELECTED WILL PURSUE YOU WITH CHARGES AND ALL BECAUSE THEY HAVE A POLITICAL MOTIVE AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT YOU. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL KNOWING THAT SOME JACKASS PRESIDENT IN THE FUTURE COULD PUT YOU IN JAIL FOR DOING YOUR JOB???
I THINK YOU WOULD BE REALLY PISSED AND ALSO AFRAID THAT YOU COULD GO TO JAIL FOR DOING YOUR JOB.
President Obama is a "Closet" Muslim and if you step back and view this statement and really think about what would a Muslim infiltraitor do to destroy as much of the Infrastructure of a Government, then it makes perfect sense as to what he is doing right now.
No President WOULD EVER THINK OF ATTACKING ANY FORMER PRESIDENT and/or ANY AGENCY WITH THE HOPES OF PROSECUTION.
All THE TERRORISTS AND THOSE MUSLIMS THAT HATE THE UNITED STATES ARE JUMPING UP AND DOWN NOW WITH HAPPINESS AT HOW FOOLISH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE TO ATTACK THEMSELVES.
There is no other sound, logical, reasonable conclusion ANYONE can draw to explain the IRRATIONAL BEHAVIOR of PRESIDENT OBAMA.
VOTE HIM OUT IN THE NEXT ELECTION AND LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ALL THOSE WHO VOTED FOR HIM. THE DEMOCRATS ARE ALL TAX AND SPEND AND DO NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART. YOU HAVE SEEN CLEAR AND UNDENIABNLE PROOF EVERY DAY AS THE DEMOCRATIC LEADERS IN THE HOUSE, SENATE, AND THE PRESIDENCY CHOOSE IRRATIONAL BILLS THAT AFFECT EVERYONE OF US.

  • Greg Gonzales - 15 years ago

Mr. Cheny is correct about Mr. Obama and the PROMISE he made! This is just another indication of how FAR LEFT OBAMA and this Administration are. I don't believe Mr. Obama has this countries best interest at heart. At best Mr. Obama is extremely naive and at worst a subversive who wants to destroy this country and what it stands for. All of his policy decisions up to this point should make every American question Mr. Obama and his true motives towards this country. That Mr Obama is the President of the United States of America is a chilling and obsolutely frightening reality! MAY GOD BLESS the UNITED STATES of AMERICA in this time of extreme peril!

When all the major cities in the U.S look like Iraq you will see how right Chenney is. I am not a Bush,Chenney suporter but fact is fact .Treat them the way they treat themselves. Not one attack after 9/11 on there watch. But the media refuses to remind us of that.

  • Janet - 15 years ago

Sounds like most of you have gotten the bulk of your information from Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, Palin, Coulter etc. etc. Those people are paranoid. They see themselves as victims with enemies. The only enemies in this United States is us. These men and women are full of hate, misinformation and are obviously poorly educated. They are closed and incapable of critical thinking. You know; look at all sides and then make a decision on your own? Oh I know it's frightening to hear something different that might prove you and them wrong. Start thinking friends. Open your brains and your eyes before it's too late. I proudly voted for Obama.

What it comes down to is double standards in Washington D.C.....it's as simple as that.

The current status and direction of the US government is summed up with the fact that Ted Kennedy was in office for 40 years.

Pretty soon we will be joining the Eurozone and our currency will be the euro.

In regards to Dick Cheney and the tactics used in order to gain information for the protection of the citizens of the United States of America, I feel that the adminstration used the very tactics necessary to retrieve such information, yet without dissolving ones life. Waterboarding was nothing more than an illusion, a feeling that one person may have that did the very thing it was expected to do, gain imperitive information for the safety of this country that, I would hope as everyone posts comments on here loves. Are any of these "mistreated, tortured, unhumanely treated" men dead??? Honestly, a terrorist is better off dead in my opinion. You allow them to live, we give them more time and power to put forth yet another unfortunate, heart wrenching, sickening event such as Sept. 11, 2001. I found many posts on here going on and on about who was in the adminstration when the attacks happened. I find this to be irrelevant to the fact that it DID HAPPEN, and measure were taken to insure it DID NOT happen again. It hasn't. Am i condoning all the actions taken by the Bush Adminstration? Absolutely not! Am I condoning the actions being put forth by Obama and the Attorney General? Absolutely not! One person says Cheney weakened our Nation while another says the Attorney General and the current Admin. is weakening our Nation. Both are equally weakening. Both are equally wrong. You can not play this sort of game with 1. the people of this great nation we call the USA 2. the people outside of this nation that are more than familiar with the issue at hand. All this shows is our inability to cooperate as Americans. All it shows is that our country is no longer about the people, or for the people. We have no voice. There is no longer reason. As Ronald Reagan once said "The Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives". When did we lose sight of this idea?

OH! wait a minute that is exactly what BHO and is AG are doing with the CIA.

Freddy and PS, maybe you should look into your own parties record. Seems to me that VP Biden is also a draft dodger. Did Obubu serve? Nope. And what about the last time Biden ran for POTUS? I believe he with drew because hmmmmm what was it? Oh ya, he plagiarized a speech. Just the type of person I want running my country. I have more comments on things like "there were no WMD found" so the press wants you to think. And lets see, I believe Saudi offered OSB head on a platter to Clinton not once but twice and they refused. Also, the first attack on the WTC was during Clinton's watch. Do you want to go toe to toe? Bring it!

Let the investigation clear you........

  • Barry S - 15 years ago

It sickens me to hear that you guys are obsessed with the political view of this and not one single person is putting the political events to one side and looking at the Moral view, Book of Luke: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". The Geneva convention that was put together by many nations, to protect those who are prisoners and prevent actions that Hitler and his Gestapo used to interogate people, as it was seen as crimes against humanity and should never happen again, which by the way the American government signed up to.
The world does care what happens here if this basic principle is ignored and as Dick Cheney likes to call it advanced interogation techniques is permitted to continue you may as well throw the Geneva convention out of the window and never use it again.
This is the reality of waterboarding that Dick Cheney authorised the CIA to use on prisoners some of which by the way WERE INNOCENT and for arguments sake lets imagine one of them is your child wrongly imprisoned:

By forced suffocation and inhalation of water, the subject experiences the sensation of drowning.
Waterboarding precipitates an almost immediate gag reflex.
    It can cause extreme pain.
    Dry drowning.
    Damage to lungs.
    Brain damage from oxygen deprivation.
Other physical injuries including broken bones due to struggling against restraints.
    Lasting psychological damage.
    Death
Adverse physical consequences can start manifesting months after the event; psychological effects can last for years.

Moraly is this wrong? I believe so if one of my children had been wrongly arrested I wouldnt want this to happen to them to gain some sort of proof of their guilt, and im sure they would admit guilt because they couldnt take this kind of abuse.

One other thing to remember George W Bush didnt accept that this was reasonable interogation methods by a Sheriff and four deputies in Texas state when he was a Senator, he also didnt intervein and prevent the Sheriff being sentanced to 10 years in prison for his actions and the deputies who got 4 years each. Yet this same president was happy to allow these actions ignoring the Geneva Convention and also the Committee against Torture from the UN. The justification to provide information, isnt this the same reasoning applied by Hitler and the Gestapo? Also you do need to remember that Gestapo members were also held accountable in America for war crimes some of which included waterboarding.

THIS IS A MORAL ISSUE, THIS IS A LEGAL ISSUE, NOT A POLITICAL ISSUE.

It seems to me that when the enhanced interrogations were going on, it had the approval of the Legislative, Judicial, & Executive branches of the government. If all branches of the government approved of the measures taken to gain intelligence to keep our country safe, why go back and investigate? What purpose will it serve? Is it just to divert attention away from the health care bill? Probably. However if we take away the CIA’s ability to gather intelligence and hand it over to the FBI isn’t that letting the horse loose then shutting the barn door? After all the CIA is the agency that gathers intelligence to PREVENT a catastrophe BEFORE it happens, while the FBI investigates a catastrophe AFTER it happens. I think I would rather have the CIA do the intelligence gathering first.

  • Freddy - 15 years ago

"I believe" seems to be the operative words here from most of the Fox news folks. Were any of you present during the interrogations? Since enough FBI agents and former CIA folks seem to be bold enough to question what Cheney did, don't you think we should at least find out? haven't we given enough ammunition to terrorists already with this and Iraq> When will you learn?

How about some actual facts to back up any of the accusations, innuendos or blatant fabrications. Sounds like most of you can't accept that your folks lost the election and the majority of America rejected the Bush policies. Don't forget, even your own party didn't defend Bush and Cheney.

I'm no fan of Obama, but he doesn't have anything to do with this investigation. Eric Holder is pushing this and the administration isn't happy about it. What has been made public has shown that some people in the CIA knowingly broke the law. There's probably much more that we don't know that is inexcusable. Let's have an investigation and FIND OUT. We don't have to abuse people to keep America safe.

So it was the welfare folks who brought this economy to its knees, correct? Not the greedy bankers, stock brokers and leveraged buyouts that ran rampant on Wall street under the Bush "rules". Get a life girl, and read something other than the comics.

He is showing his true colors and Cheney is helping us see what Obama is really up to.
The terrorist had no mercy or compassion for killing our people, why should we show any mercy or compassion to them? Sure we are suppose to be better than they are but that does not mean we should take these killings laying down and need to do whatever is needed to learn their plans.

Then theres his birth place, he was born in Kenya as his relatives have told.

We should get a petition on the state ballots to fire all elected politicians who have sworn to uphold the US Constitution and have not done so. We should not have to wait for elections. If they swore to uphold it and they don't then they should be forced to resign. If they work for you then stand up and speak up if they are not doing what you want them to do. Remember the politicians work for us and unfortunately they have forgotten who they work for. Your vote is a powerful tool and you should use it. Encourage your friends and neighbors to vote in the upcoming elections and put people in office who will represent them and uphold the US Constitution. History is not taught in junior or high schools anymore that tells the true history of our country. It's a distorted version. Get real history back into the schools so we do not have generations of ignorant people who are clueless about our country. In my classes I have challenged my professors who distort history and I will not back down.

    I understand the arguement.
I'm just saying, as all learned people are, no offense, that there is no proof he is not a citizen. Until conservatives can come up with irrefutable proof, then this is a dead issue!!

  • Tamir - 15 years ago

Phil, You show your ignorance. I don't need a law degree to understand the Constitution or to understand that Obama has violated the Constitution more than Bush and Cheney. Obama has only been in office for less than 9 months. It was written so everyone could understand it. And for those who do not know history and you doubt Obama's call for a civilian army then read about Hitler and the brown shirts. Read the writings of Gareth Jones, a Welsh jounralist who wrote on Hitler and his brown shirts. "Germany Under the Rule of Hitler", "Death Blow to Democracy". He also wote on Russia. As I said before if you read history you will see the pattern is similar. Everyone should get out and vote the incompetent officaials out of office.

  • tad - 15 years ago

    Larry,
There is speculation that Obama was born in Kenya vs the USA.
He would not be eligible to run for President if he was not a true
    American citizen by birth.

  • guillermo - 15 years ago

i like the facts and if chaney is lying in his comments he should go to jail but if his comments are true and the interogations did save american lives then i think he should recieve a medal and a big i told you so. on the other hand obama did promise not to investigate the cia and as he said move forward apparently he doesn't have any credibility because he went backward not forward. i believe that the democrats are using the cia investigations as a punishment for what is happening to their healthcare proposal . in the end it all comes down to facts and the truth and which side is full of it. so lets open up the books and decide and take a look.

  • Larry - 15 years ago

    Tad, Tad, Tad,

Exactly, what was his questionable birth??

  • larry - 15 years ago

    Sharon

Excuse me. Exactly how did OBama get in office illegally???

  • tad - 15 years ago

Be very afraid! Who Obama is, was clear BEFORE we elected him.

His radical friends who hate our country, his lack of employment, his questionable birth in the USA, his blame America motto, his love affair
with most of the media and his denouncing of the rest etc. etc.

America voted him in. Let's hope that doesn't happen again. The USA
will never be the same. Please wake up people before it is too late.

May God help us and our country!

  • movetotheright - 15 years ago

    To Ann -

Bravo. No terrorist thinks about what they should and shouldn't do and have done to anyone of us they capure. Why should we treat these evil people any better than they treated our people - letting us see it right on TV. They should be blasted to hell!

LET'S TAKE AMERICA BACK BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

  • Sharon - 15 years ago

Enjoy your freedom now you won't have it long. Obama got in office illegally and stopped the investigation to prove it (tho some have pled guilty). We need to set term limits on all offices including supreme court judges. We also need to find a way to impeach ALL that we can now and start over. What ever happened to everything was voted on by the PEOPLE?
TAMIR how can we get the laws changed to set limits etc???

  • Vickie - 15 years ago

The White House dimisses the remarks as though they mean nothing, YET millions of Americans feel the same as Cheney. Guess our thoughts and fellings still do not matter to this current, un-american administration.

  • movetotheright - 15 years ago

While Bush and Cheney were in power I would have loved to nail them to the wall and have them put into jail for dragging us into the unwarranted Iraqi war. I still think it might be a good idea and that's probably where Obama & Holdren are headed.

However, Holdren & Obama going after CIA interrogators is the biggest breach of our security agency that has ever been done. Not that they care. They'll be pulling in the interrogation unit under the White House's hands. Obama's promised transparency was a big hoax. We know nothing about him and very little about his czars and advisors and that's the way he's going to keep it. I feel that he is threatened by the FBI and the CIA so he will form his own brand of thugs for domestic and international actions. Although I feel that he is in bed with the radical islamists and feels that they won't do anything to the US unless he tells them to for an opportune time to call Martial Law. He needs a good "crisis" to bring us under his brand of Socialist government.

Pray for us for this is just another destruction of our chain of command and Constitutional infrastructure which Obama has trashed.

  • Brad - 15 years ago

For crying out loud, when will the rest of the american electorate wake up and realized this guy we call a president is a fraud...says what you want to hear and does the exact opposite.

  • Eberle - 15 years ago

Better watch what you say, this administration may have trackers for each post. I was one that got the mysterious email. I've never seen anything good from Obama. He is like so many other of his kind, looking for a free handout that cost the working people for years to come. He was a community organizer and my daughter can do that job and shes dense as hell. The KKK were community organizers too, think about it, research it.

We are the good guys. Start acting like it.

  • Phil - 15 years ago

    Tamir,

Funny, when I googled "Obama" and "Civilian Army" the first link was to Glenn Beck. Obama was talking about increasing the funding to the Foreign Service, AmeriCorps, and the Peace Corps. Not exactly Brown Shirts, but hey, you're a smart guy, you don't need to be told that.

  • gary - 15 years ago

Let Dick do his talking now, I can't wait for the day we turn him over to be tried as a war criminal!

  • larry - 15 years ago

    Tamir

I agree, read the constitution. Where in there does it support the tactics of Cheney?? Let's not let's not get off track here. This started with was Cheney right!!

  • Phil - 15 years ago

    Tamir,

Dare I say, that you have no idea what your talking about and absolutely nothing to back it up. There's an old statement on the internet about the first person to bring up Hitler in an argument loses, well congrats on being that loser.

In all seriousness, Good luck with your studies. I would think law school is the obvious next step with those degrees, so study hard.

  • Tamir - 15 years ago

    Phil,

I don't watch Glenn Beck. Apparently you do. I get my facts from doing research and extensive reading. Something I would suggest many of you should start doing. My first recommendation would be the United States Constitution. Then read the history of the US from the beginning to now. Then read European History from 1600 to present day. Then read the history of Germany from 1700 to present, Russian 1800 to present and then you might be better informed of how I look at issues and how they are almost idential to what Obama is doing.

  • kelly - 15 years ago

American are so stupid!!! They're crying for laws to protect the criminal and terrorist. Special integrations are needed in order to protect the people and the country, or should they kneel down and beg the criminal/terrorist for the information? I don't know what are they thinking, or until they see thing happen to their love one. Jaycee Lee Dugard' kidnap story is an example of this country law that gives rights / protection to the criminal which hurt so much to Jaycee' family and her life. When it will happen to your life? and will you still give a dam what laws/rights to the person who hurt you.

  • Dan - 15 years ago

It's no different than all the other campaign promises B.O. made. No increase in taxes is the best one. Cheney is absolutely correct!

  • Tamir - 15 years ago

    Phil,

I am a history and government major and when someone talks of a civilian army when there is no need for one then yes I am concerned. Apparently you failed history or did not bother to read. Obama wants to create a civilian army close to one million. Now why when as I said before we have the best military in the world. I am not the only one who feels concern over a civilian army under Obama. If you look at all the things Obama has been doing in is in line with things that Hitler, Chavez, Lenin and Stalin have all done. Go to your public library and start reading. People failed to read Obama's book and did not look close at his public statements and voting record. If people did he never would have gotten elected.

  • Phil - 15 years ago

    Freddy,

Sorry, I thought I could out crazy Beck, I guess not.

  • Freddy - 15 years ago

    Phil,
SO sorry, but Glen Beck DID start (or at least follow) that train of "thought". You don't think Tamir came up with that on her own?

And as far as CIA in fear? Does everyone think everyone in CIA condoned the few that went way over the line? I suspect that there are those who do follow the law in the CIA. And almost everyone here seems to forget that the final analysis of WWII interrogators was that torture DID NOT Work. And the recently released CIA documents do NOT prove torture helped.

  • Larry - 15 years ago

    EC

Really, where were you when Bush/Cheney went against the constitution of the United States???

  • Tamir - 15 years ago

1LT Bill US/Army/USMC you are right when you said Obama has weakened our country. He did the apology tour and it gave encouragement to our enemies and with China owning most of our debt we are in serious danger of existing as a democracy. I use to work at a university where a quarter of the popluation was Muslim and they all said that they respected Bush/Cheney and they do not respect Obama/Biden. Obama showed weakness and that is something they do not respect. With his reckless policies he has embolded terrorists who hate us for our democracy, our constitution and our freedoms which they do not like. They hate the fact that we have a choice in choosing our religion, who we marry, our friends and our lifestyles. Having spent hundreds of hours of talking with Muslims I found out they respect people who do not apologize or bow before them. I feel it is only a matter of time before our country is attacked again. In crippling and gutting the CIA and treating terrorists like everyday criminals then we are screwed. Terrorists torture and behead their victims and have been doing it long before we waterboarded anyone. If torture saves one civilian life then it is well worth it. I lost friends on 9/11 and that is something I never want to happen again.

  • Seth - 15 years ago

    Ann,

It turns out Liberals think beheadings are wrong, we're just sane enough to think that torture is wrong, too. You think your more patriotic than everyone else because you feel the way you do. We think it's patriotic to defend the constitution, which requires that our government follow the law, which includes not torturing. I don't like terrorists, I'd like to see them dead or in jail, but once we have them, they must be treated the way we treat all other prisoners, with basic human rights and without torture. Will they do that for us, no, but that's why we're better than them. Standing by principle isn't being a wussy or unpatriotic, it's a lot harder, and obviously the last administration didn't have balls to fight the war on terrorism the way it should have.

  • tad - 15 years ago

i am 60 years old, 1968-1972 air force vet. there was a war back then that divided our nation. i saw innocent kent state students killed for protesting peacefully. i saw young men who did not wish to go to war, answer the call only to be spit upon when they returned. and i saw in the 707 nightingale air hospitals young service men and women injured and burned beyond recognition, and many many black body bags. there was hatred then, but from my personal perspective not as strong as it is today. the hatred back then was directed at the war(and to some degree to individuals), but today the hatred is aimed at everything and everybody. the hatred directed at the former bush admin. is hard to believe. the mounting hatred for the current obama adim. is poised to surpass even that. more debt, more social problems, more welfare, more government, more control and the worse of all is the growing lust for more and more power(to gain and retain it). people in the highest levels of government do not pay the taxes, travel world wide on tax payer expense and receive mountains of cash for influence. greed and cheating needs to be taught at university level because many of our politicians are not very good at it and get caught(they keep their money and their power, but get caught) it is sad and somewhat embarrassing to be a part of a nation that can not trust it's leaders. dem or repub., left or right, it seems as if there is not a decent or honest one in the bunch. god help us all, and for the growing number of citizens that don't believe in god someone(or something) help us all. STILL PROUD TO BE AMERICAN - BUT IT IS GETTING HARDER

  • Leatherneck - 15 years ago

For the sychophants who claim Obama didn't say he wouldn't persue the CIA agents, here are his exact words: "Nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past." - President Barack Obama

Only an idiot can interpret his remarks differently, but I see there are several on this blog.

    Phil,

Really, Obama supports death panels?? Next you'll be saying that Palin
actually has something important to say.

  • EC - 15 years ago

How soon can we impeach Obama, this administration is the most unamerican, unpatriotic, bunch of tax and spend morons to ever represent this country. Obamas only answer to his outragous decisions is to blame Bush.
Instead of tying to figure out how we can pay off our enourmous debt, they want to spend our tax dollars investigating great americans who with great courage stood up to those who want to destroy our country.

  • Helen D. - 15 years ago

There is not a doubt of any kind that VP C. is totally correct and there is also no doubt why the Dems are pulling this - all they do is attempt to make anything that happened previously look all wrong, when they are in the wrong and have been since day one! Best thing that can happen now is vote them all out ASAP and try to save this fine country while we can!

  • Phil - 15 years ago

Tamir, I'm pretty sure even Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin haven't even made that argument yet.

Are you going to argue that Obama is planning on building the death star too? Because if hitler could get into outer space I'm sure he would have built a death star, and since obama supports death panels, the only logical step after death panels is death star. I see a coincidence.

WE ARE AT WAR......MAKE NO MISTAKE.......WHY FIGHT A WAR WITH ONE HAND TIED BEHIND YOUR BACK........ALMOST THREE THOUSANDS AMERICANS DIED ON 9/11 ........" LEST WE FOGET ". IF WE GET ATTACKED AGAIN WHO WILL OBAMA BLAME.....PROBABLY THE PREVIOUS ADMINTRATION AND THE CIA. THAT SEEMS TO BE HIS WAY OF DOING THINGS.

Well, may of the liberals that hate Chaney must face "8 years with no terrorist attcks against the US". They way this administration is foundering, we will be luck to get through 8 months....... This political witch-hunt by Attorney Holder places the entire country at risk. Yep, the Domcrats do not care about Security....
    · Blaming all of your failures on the previous administrations
    · A declining support of our National Defense
    · Destroying whatever intelligence gathering by attacking the CIA
    · No geo-political counter or solutions for a nuclear North Korea, Iran, and Pakistan as problems continue exacerbate moving toward greater uncertainty
    · Rush to judgment on bill passage without reading them before passage-what a joke!
    · Pure arrogance; No compromise or attempt for any bipartisanship whatsoever

One more thing....any of you people who are so worried about our CIA "breaking the law"...which they didn't....what do you think of the terroists beheading people and killing the innocent or 9/11....Do those things bother you at all? You ever wonder why we haven't had another 9/11 or worse? You ever grateful to our CIA and Military at all....for anything? Or are you so blind that you don't even know who is keeping your useless, self serving rears safe? As many in Military have told me...the ones I've talked to....they server to defend the Constitution and the country and they don't worry about the traitors. They are too busy doing their jobs, carrying out missions, and trying to stay alive to worry about the scum in this country who love the ememy more than they do country. I have a feeling my words are wasted here. I was told....never try to reason with a fool...they'll only hate you for it. But it is good to see that there are some patriotic americans making comments here. Never give in...let's take this country back and see our Constitution actually followed again.

  • Freddy - 15 years ago

    Darryl:

So here is the "Proof" from your post:
"There were four of us lieutenants at the time, and we were all fairly close. Two of them had more flight time than the president and me, said Bradley." All four volunteered for Vietnam (Bradley doesn't remember whether he and Bush actually signed paperwork, but he specifically remembers both Bush and himself trying to get into the Palace Alert Vietnam program.) Bush and Bradley were turned away, and the two more senior pilots went to Vietnam."

Interesting that the is no paperwork, or if it existed, it is "lost". Also, in a link leading from this link is a verified statement (paperwork available) it states: "It is also true, however, that in his 1968 application to join the Texas Air National Guard Bush was asked if he wanted to go overseas and he checked the box that said “do not volunteer.” But as the Washington Post reported on July 28, 1999: “Bush said in an interview that he did not recall checking the box."

SO if he felt so strongly about serving in Vietnam, why didn't he volunteer again? Don't tell me that we had too many pilots!

Sorry, this is not proof, but he said I said. Only document states he did not want to volunteer.

  • Tamir - 15 years ago

Everyone who values freedom and independence should be very, very, very concerned about something Obama wants to do. He wants a civilian army. Why do we need a citizen army when we have the best miliatary forces in the world. Now for those who are not familiar with civilian armies think of Hitler. He started a civilian army of brown shirts and SS troops. Look what happened to Germany. It's in the history books. Maybe Obama wants to have people reporting on their neighbors and creating ghettos for those who do not believe in Socialism. Take a good look around folks because you may not have many rights when he gets done. His latest move is to have control of the internet. He needs to be watched closely since his agenda is to turn the United States of America into something other than a democracy.

  • Phil - 15 years ago

Obama and his administration is treating terrorism like a criminal act.

    Really? That's a bad thing?

  • Tamir - 15 years ago

Cheney is right. He should know first hand since he was well briefed on the war on terror. Obama and his administration is treating terrorism like a criminal act. Obama has lied so much the lie-o-meter is broken and he has violated the constitution more than Bush and Cheney ever did. Where is the outrage over the Czars that are advising Obama. They answer to only Obama, not to Congress or the people. Look at the people who are Czars. That tells me all I need to know about Obama and his corrupt politics. The only change he brought to Washington is Chicago style politics. It's dirty and corrupt. Several of his Czars have criminal records, one is tied to Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground. Obama has said multiple times to judge him by the company he keeps. If you looked at the people he admired in his book then you see clearly who he is. He wants to destroy free enterprise and have the citizens dependent up the government to do everything for them. Wake up people and start demanding accountability and transparency. Vote out all those who are not doing their jobs. The president and many of those in Congress swore to uphold the US Constitution. They have not and they should be voted out of office as they come up for reelection.
