  I recommend the work of the foremost Black female atheist in the country, Sikivu Hutchinson and her website, www.blackfemlens.org and www.blackfemlens.blogspot.com. She wrote an article, "Out of the Closet," describing the social pressures placed upon a Black female who declares her rejection of Christian beliefs.

  Ariane Sherine for me, she started the whole Athiest Bus Campaign back in 2008, it has spread worldwide and has aroused debate between theists and rational people. ABC has resulted in more atheist coming out of the closet than any other campaign previously.

  I'm still being influenced by Jennifer Michael Hecht (Historian, poet, philosopher) author of "Doubt". She wrote it a few years ago, but I was still reading it in 2009 (and into 2010)

  She's an atheist, and while she's not influential in that specific context, her rational and inquisitive nature is the cornerstone of her very influential work... Therefore I'm casting my vote for Rachel Maddow.
