pattinson, as portrayed in the twilight movies, is the representative of a ken doll, skarsgard in true blood is the real thing with real sexuality and a real mind. but teen girls will always go for the picturesque, but one-dimensional, ken doll until they reach the real stuff of a real man.
I kind of agree with Sara, Rob is really cute and attractive in a sense if you are portraying a vampire who was turned at an early age. But Alex, has that older male appeal, which usually embodies a vampire according to his age. I agree Alex is way cooler - his physique, wicked humor and sense of being in command as Eric is really striking.

I just imagined Pattinson TRYING to play the same role as Skarsgard and I'm laughing my butt off. He can't even handle playing a lame vampire in Twilight. Pattinson should continue playing in Kiddy land and sparking like a good fairy. He is James Dean and "a little Johnny Depp" only in his fantasies! I'm sure all the twilight fans think Pattinson will be winning an academy award. Hilarious.

Sorry but Rob Pattinson is just not attractive. He has a plain face with the body of a 13-year old girl. Alexander on the other hand is pure hot-blooded maleness both in his handsome face and muscular body. You can't have fair polls with Rob Pattinson in it, his army of twi-hards simply band together and rig it. They know he would lose every time if you asked the REGULAR adult population.

My choice is Ian Somerhalder of the Vampire Diaries. I saw how he looked as the evil Damon. With those smoldering eyes who would not offer their necks for him?

It IS comparing apples & oranges. However, as cute as Rob is, he lacks the entirety Alexander has. He lacks the confidence, intelligent sense of humor & let's face it-the amazing sexy grin w/ the body that matches.

Alexander is very good looking and good in the role, but he is not the worldwide sensation that is Robert Pattinson. They aren't even in the same airspace as far as global popularity is concerned. That's because one is a movie star and the other is a tv star. Different animals entirely. Pattinson is the new James Dean (with a little Johnny Depp thrown in for good measure). He's being touted by Hollywood as the next big male movie star. Alexander is not. As for hotness, that is a matter of taste. I'll take Pattinson's smoldering testosterone charged sensuality over a blonde ice god anyday. But that's me.
