Tiger Woods will return to play in the Masters, he said in a statement today. It will be Woods' first golf tournament and second public appearance since his post-Thanksgiving car crash and ensuing sex scandal.

As disappointed as it is to find out Tiger is not who he presented himself to be, I hope he'll return and redeem himself through golf and through a change in his life. Being Christian is about forgiveness.

My opinion of Tiger has not changed. Tigers personal life has never been my business. I pray for the recovery of his family. It is unfortunate his family will not have the opportunity to heal outside of the public spotlight. In regards to his professional career, 100% that he will return.

Maybe Tiger will be back to play at Torrey Pines in California - towards the end of January I think. He does so well at that course. If not then, I would think he will be back for the Masters. He loves golf so much, and the majors are such an important goal for him. And it would probably be good for him to get back to competitive golf which he does so well. Whenever it is, he will have plenty of supporters who will be glad to see him back at the sport which he has given so much to and made so much more popular since he came into worldwide knowledge in 1997.
As for such cold comments by Tim, Larken, and KGB....I am sure they don't know Tiger personally, and obviously don't know of his many good qualities as a person also. And they don't know how good he (or the human spirit in general for that matter!) is at coming back from seemingly impossible odds. I would hope their own worst failures and embarrassing moments could also be brought out by every press outlet in the world (mixed in with plenty of untrue things made up about them), and see how they would like it for some to say they are done, worthless, and not human. I am not saying that it wasn't a really bad thing for Tiger to do what he did, but I am sure that over his lifetime, Tiger has done more good for others than all of them combined through his foundation, his volunteer work with kids, and the tens of millions of dollars he has helped the PGA raise that has gone to charities who are recipients from each tournament they have.... for over a decade! I hope Tiger and his family can have a successful comeback in both a better personal life and in his amazing professional golf career.

Three of the Majors are on courses that "fit his eye" this coming year: Pebble Beach, Augusta, St. Andrews. Hard to imagine he'll let them slip by because his wife wants to renegotiate her "prenup."

Tiger is human as we all are. He has been very immature with his actions. However, all along his goal is to break Jack's record of majors. He needs to change his attitude, but no one over the last 10 years has done more for golf than Tiger. I think he come out and talk about things, pick up his wife and family and return....or go through a very painful divorce and get on with life. He made his bed and he must lie in it.

Tiger may never come back. He may tell the whole world that due to this change in his life, there may be more important things than golf. He may have an epiphany and choose to reinvent himself and do something far more meaningful to him and his family than just play golf. After all, he's got all the money that he'll ever need. He'll show us that there is even a BETTER life after golf.

He'll be back for the MASTERS, maybe a couple events prior...the endeavor is too close to quit now!

I would be content if he gave up the game, having self-imploded at the height of his career.

I'm with grey fox. He's definitely coming back but he has to win when he returns. Woods and the PGA stand to lose millions the longer he's out. He may be a cheater, but the man is golf.

Tiger wants to win when he returns. He cannot do much practicing now, so it will be a while before he can get up to snuff. And he must mightily fear being booed and hissed; so he must also let the heat get off. And, to avoid the last, he must do a mea culpa. Most polls favor (8-1) tears on Oprah.

He will never be back as before! I think that in the next year or so, he will fade from the golfing scene and may well become a recluse somewhere in Sweden or at an undisclosed geographical location. Tiger is done!

who cares? he is a cheater, liar and loser

  • KGB - 14 years ago

He'll be back sooner rather than later because he's a socio-pathic narciccist concerned only with what serves him best and most. Whatever hand-wringing consideration he's giving his family is utterly manufactured and coldly calculated for effect. This man is incapable of love, sympathy, or empathy. He is a marketing concept masquerading as a human being.

One of the offered choices should have been "After his divorce". That would have been my choice.
