    Are you on the League of Women Voters??? I heard that once, there was a caller who called for the repeal of the right of men to vote.

    Did you hear that? Certainly if you support an appointed school board, then men will lose their voting rights.

    Seriously, a member of the Board of Women Voters said that they would have discussions on the topic of elected vs. appointed school boards if the petition passed. Guess what? The petition passed and the LWV has simply done nothing besides suppress our right to vote. Send in your dues!!!

    FOR THE UNDECIDED VOTER
    Here are some facts in the school board referendum:
    1.The spokesperson for the Elect The Board said in the MT debate that the
    League of Women Voters opposed integration and the magnet schools. That is a
    blatant falsehood!! The LWV has always been in the forefront of integration in
    schools and housing, and supported the magnet schools as a way to acheive
    this. The Education chairperson of the LWV(Eve Marchiony), became a BOE
    member and was a leader in that struggle.
    2.A caller for the Elect The Board told a citizen that classes of 40
    children were good for him years ago and didn't see why the state
    suggested
    23-25 in a class. He also recommended that since AP classes were small,
    they should be offered every other year. He later denied that he wanted to
    reduce school costs.
    3.Pegi Adam and Ted Mattox ,founders of Montclair Watch, were the
    originators of the flat tax petition and the subsequent petition for an
    elected school board. Both petitions were available on their website until recently.
    The Flat Tax petition was just removed from their Montclair Watch website
    as they don't want to be perceived as tax cutters. Isn't this confusing?
    4.Elect The Board proponents have complained about the BOE lack of response to
    the public, and the lack of innovation in the schools.But, here are some
    of the BOE actions:
    Replaced the HS principal with parent participation;
    Added math and literacy coaches to work with
    teachers and students using new techniques,using the Lucy Caulkins writing
    program focusing on writing literacy;
    Ordered new materials and revamped program for special and general ed classes;
    And Bradford, the University magnet is a study of ongoing innovation.

    Elect the Board leaders have not been accurate with their facts.
    Would you like to elect them or their followers?
    Vote NO on Nov. 3.
