I agree with the U.S. Supreme Court. If they did not find a procedural error then there is no, valid, reason for the decision of the local Court to be overturned.

Now that the highest Court in the USA has made it's decision, the sentence should be carried out without any further delay!
The family of the murdered Policeman has suffered enough, waiting for Justice to be done!

I totally disagree with the decision (LACK OF EVIDENCE)!
Nevertheless, I still believe GOD IS GOING TO MOVE IN A MIGHTY WAY by allowing the real killer to come forth. So I know and believe FREEDOM will be granted to Troy Davis and PEACE for the victim's family, IN JESUS NAME!

Perhaps the seven of the nine witnesses that so called "recanted" their testimony can carry the burden of this execution and not the Supreme court!

GOD LOOKS AFTER THOSE THAT LOOK AFTER THEMSELVES. I HAVE FOLLOWED THIS CASE SINCE I WAS A SMALL CHILD. MY DAD WAS SHOT 9 TIMES BECAUSE OF A THUG LIKE DAVIS. JUSTICE PREVAILS ONE MORE TIME.MAYBE THE MACPHAIL FAMILY CAN NOW GET ON WITH THEIR LIVES AND FINALLY LIVE IN PEACE.

I do not agree with the Supreme Courts decision. Unfortunately there are two families who are hurting at this time. Whether you feel Troy is innocent or not as human beings you should put yourself in the shoes of his family and imagine how you would feel if it were you, your son or brother facing execution. It amazes me that with the lack of so much evidence people are so willing to say we are holding someone responsible wheter they are guilty or innocent so to close a case. In the end no matter what the outcome God has this all in control and though we may not understand it right now God will show himself mighty in the end.

I totally agree with the decision. I cannot imagine what the McPhail family has had to go through for all of these years. Put yourself in THEIR shoes.

There's still the small chance that he Troy didn't kill Officer McPhail. Why not go through and look at the evidence? If I put myself in the McPhail family's shoes, I would hate to know that I may have killed an innocent man. I can't imagine what their family has been facing for so long. But I can't imagine what they could face if new evidence clears Troy after he is executed.

I agree with the Surpreme Court. It is time for punishment .

They have had 19 years to look at the evidence and every appeal he has made comes back with the same outcome. Obviously the courts have all of the evidence that they need....evidence that the public is not aware of. The McPhail family is not killing an innocent man, he brought this on himself when he decided to pull the trigger, not once but twice.

I am really appalled at the decision. I have been in the McPhail's shoes having a sister murdered; but it is blatantly clear that this is all about race and not the evidence that was not presented. Further, the witnesses said that they lied due to coercion by the police. Killing a look alike black man is not going to solve anything, and it certainly isn't justice. Shame on the State of Georgia for allowing prejudice, instead of justice to prevail. This just makes me sick - Mr. Davis has been sitting in jail all of this time for a crime he didn't even commit. But, for those of you whom are too afraid to review his website to better inform yourselves, I can only feel pity for you. While I support the death penalty - only if there is not an ounce of doubt like there is overwhelming second guessing here. Shame. I guess for those of you who want us to put ourselves in the McPhail's shoes, put yourself in a black person's shoes for a change and you too, would not appreciate being wrongfully convicted and referred to as a "thug". This country's problem with prejudice has got to be dealt with some day, and killing the innocent only causes a larger rift. Oh, for the record: I am a black professional woman, but not a thug.

I agree with the Supreme Court. Past time for justice to be served. Get the punishment over with so the McPhail family can start their healing process.

I agree with the Supreme Court. I pray that the McPhail Family will continue to lean on the Lord for the strength and guidence . I know it hasn't been easy for the children having their dad taken away at an early age, so hopefully justice will continue to prevail.

This SOB shot and kill one of our policeman!!! We should be outraged!! What the Troyfamily is not saying is that this SOB had shot another person earlier and plead GUILTY on that case. Guess what! they pulled the same bullet out of McPhail as they did from the other shooting victim. We call that evidence. A balistic match!!!! Talking to people that knew this thug, they say that he was a peice of $#@$ But the jurys never hears the real background. Rest assured. The Police got the right person. The jury convicted the right person and the supreme court got it right. Thank god the DA had enough balls to go for the death sentence. I hope this piece of !@$# rots in hell where he belongs.

I have no idea about the case specifics, but can't see this having gone on so long without sufficient evidence. I have to believe that the correct decision was made initially, and it is long overdue for justice to be carried out. There should be a 5 year deadline on all capital punishment cases.

I totally agree and I wish you didn't give his side so much coverage, think about what you are doing to the son of the slain officer!! Get Davis off of TV, he is not the only news around the Savannah area and we are tired of seeing his mug on there!!! Be done with him already!

If there is a chance that Troy Davis could be innocent, why is the legal system so hell bent on killing him without further investigation. It is easy to send another person to the electric chair or whatever when you have the power and authority to do so, but when the "shoe is on the other foot" and you are hoping and crying to have another door open to save YOUR life, then you can see Troy Davis' situation a little more unbiased. I'm going to pray for Mr. Davis in my prayer tonight, because only our Almighty Father can set this case right!

2008-10-15 12:04:08 ET

It's obvious that the important thing here is not whether Troy Davis is guilty or innocent. For the system to work smoothly the only consideration must be what the authorities say. They have the power and the responsibility to do what they want with the lives that are under their control. Consider that the truth is only allowed in a courtroom when it is properly presented and it must be thrown out if arrived at by any other means than the court deems appropriate. It is not about what is true but what, in the end, will satisfy all the people and circumstances that are the people involved owe. I assure you that trial lawyers, judges, DAs, in truth, every person who has an opinion owes and must honor those debts at any cost. So, Sweetie, do you think the McPhail family can lean on God - and demand revenge? I believe God already reveled His ideas on that score.
Here's the rub. If witnesses have come forward to recant their testimony and another has confessed to being the shooter these facts must be disregarded. Imagine the cost alone. And as Denese has said, we are tired of it. Innocent or guilty isn't the question. Just do it and let's move on. After all, it's not me.
