Did the media help make Jack Thompson by covering him too much?

I think Thompson was a radical activist before he got on stage. Create him? No, he always was. The media fanned the flames though. On the other hand he was a useful caricature of anti-gaming activists. I think in all, he did more harm to his cause than good.

I voted yes, because he wouldn't have become the monster he did without all the media attention, but at the same time, I'm rather glad it was him, as if it wasn't, it would have been someone else. I'm glad it was him because I'd hate to think of the mess that could have been made of Interactive Media if the spotlight of attention had fallen on someone who shares his views but remains coherent and rational.

I voted yes, because without coverage, this insignificant lawyer from Florida would never have been able to show his face and thrive like he did. Did video game journalism bring this monster to life? Absolutely not. The mainstream media outlets are the ones that allowed Thompson to appear on their networks spreading his hate and lies. If it wasn't for networks like Fox and CNN, Thompson never would have even been lifted off the ground in the first place. So to answer the question: no, gaming media did not create this monster (in fact, from what I read, they were the only logical mind against Thompson and his radical beliefs).

I voted yes, but not because I think Jack Thompson wouldn't exist without the media. But I think once Jacky realized how much coverage he could get, and how easy it was to get everyone to report on him, he knew he had a powerful tool in his hand.
