Absolutely, they are ugly and they make it easy for cars to proliferate and encourage sprawl.

Maybe, if there were fast and dependable alternatives so that people could get into town.

No, it isn't just about cars, food and other essentials have to get into cities and you can't rip out the arteries.

We need more and better highways so that people are not stuck in traffic wasting fuel.
