Does one lawmaker's idea to pay poor women to get sterilized sound like a good one?

You have to be kidding me! This is a perfect example of the wellfare system continuing to go wrong. How about every able body person getting a job and EARN the money, get off wellfare.

I think it might help motivate some to help themselves. It might help to include the men as well. I think if you are on welfare and food stamps..... temporary sterilizing while they are collecting from the tax payers should be required. I don't believe I should pay for their children and mistakes.... no one is paying for my blls, food or children! Lets help them help themselves!

I'm all for women's rights, but tax payer's monies should not be used pay for this choice. The government should also not require women to get sterilized in order to receive assistance. If a woman does decide to do this, she should pay the cost.

It is an interesting idea but who decides who is too poor to have children? Is it going to be one of those corrupt special interest serving con artists called professional politions or will the choice be one of the individual themselves? I dont think the government should say is you can have one child or not but if you have one child and cannot afford to raise it without welfare then it should be manditory so that the person doesn't become a further burdin upon society. All these welfare cases with 4 and 5 kids is deplorable and should be criminal.
