The questions were rather poor, because Energy Independence does not have to compete with sustainability.

It is imperative that our Energy Policies address Global Warming. Still, I had to vote for Independence over Global Warming, not only because to achieve Energy Independence we will have to harness renewable energies such as wind, water, and sunlight, but also because our failed current policy (courtesy of the Cheney/Bush Administration) includes financing our enemies, Arab, Iranian, and Russian.

Whenever I hear one person say "drill, baby, drill" I want 100 people to say "Grow, baby, Grow!" I hope that FOE and its members vocally support implementation and funding for the Advanced Biofuels sections of Title iX of the Farm Bill. This is something you can do that will make a real impact. These provide much needed funding for research to get us off of foreign oil, other foreign fuel sources, and to develop home-grown non-food sustainable renewable green fuels. Researchers working on this cutting-edge science are caught with lab-proven new technologies, but lack the capital to build pilot projects to prove the commercial value. Title IX has provisions for loan guarantees to encourage private investment. Visit www.AdvancedBiofuelsUSA.org for details.

We would be much better off by not using ANY of our own oil right now. We should be using THEIR oil until they run out, which they will, sooner or later. Oil will go to $1,000 a barrel, and THEN is when we should start pumping and drilling our own.
