The Exxon on the corner of Greenville Blvd. and 10th St. is selling gas for $3.99 today, and I know they were charging les than $3.79 yesterday. From the definition above that's price gouging, right?
Washington - most stations Trade wilco, Travel stores, andLliberty have gone from $3.69 this morning to $4.59 tonight. If this is not price gouging what is?
How do I contact the the govener's office on price gouging?
This morning when I went to work at 8am, the "Plus Gas" station in Chocowinity (Corner of Hwy 33 and Old Blounts Creek Rd.) already had their gas at $4.79 per gallon for regular! At first I thought the sign was wrong until I realized today what was happening!
In Elizabeth City at the Walmart it jumped 30 cent overnight
This is uncalled for. Our State Attorney General should step in

How about every station in New Bern is GOUGING!!! Gas jumped from $3.69 to $4.49 in one hour....every sucker bit and lined up to buy!
the price of a gallon of gas should have read 3.99.9 thanks
At 2:30 PM today the Handy Mart on the corner of Hwy 11 and Davenport Farm Rd in Winterville had regular unleaded for $3.99/gal. Sam's Club (basically beside them) had it for $3.59/gal and the BP station in Winterville beside the Dixie Queen (about 1 mile away) had it for $3.63/gal.
We gripe about the arabs, and OPEC, when it's our fellow citizens that are gouging the hell out of us.
This on top of the fact that oil is the cheapest it's been since last february!!
Gas in Vanceboro at Handy Mart was 3.99 and right up the street at kangaroo it was 3.62 and the stores less than 1 mile apart. Also at Handy Mart you could only buy 40.00$ at a time.. at Kangaroo you could fill up.. What's wrong with this picture...
I find it hard to believe that here in NC gas has jumped from $3.61 this morning to $3.99 to $4.54 and in Virginia it has stayed the same. We need new elected officials in office that care about the average person and the economy. Why is it the gas companies can do whatever they want to and nothing is done? Yes I know they say they are going to investigate price gouging but they won't do anything about it. People will have a hard time buying gas just to get to work. Why is it gas can jump $1.00 at the time but only comes down a few cents at the time? One more question, if our gas prices have gone up so much over the past few months because of the war then why is it a hurricane that hasn't even hit yet can cause such price gouging?
Handy Mart in winterville by sams club was 3.99 and everyone down the street was 3.65
In Washington most gas stations are, in Williamston gas is ranging from $3.69 to $3.99 but down the road 20 miles or so Washington has regular at $4.59 that is crazy how can a few hours cause gas to go from $3.69 to $3.99 and a few miles it goes to $4.59.
Both the Handy Mart and the BP stores in Vanceboro are and basically all the stores in Craven County except for some of the mom and pop stores and the Kangaroos. The Handy Mart in vanceboro was at $3.62.9 around 6pm on 09/11/08, but by 8pm they were at $3.99.9 and by 4pm today they were at $4.39.9. The BP station stopped people from pumping gas last night so they could up their price from $3.67.9 to $3.99.9 and by 4pm today they were at $4.50.9. I think that everyone of these store owners should be fined and if any of them has been charged more then the oil companies that they get it from should be fined as well. I refuse to buy gas from any of these stores especially the Handy Marts because they are owned by EJ POPE out of Mount Olive and they haul their own fuel. I try to buy all of my gas from mom and pop stores, you know the people who are just try to get by like most of us.
I am under the impression that gas prices at a gas store cannot "LEGALLY" be increased until their previous shipment has been sold and then only if the new supply has increased. If the new supply has decreased, then lower the price. This is another form of "FLEECING OF AMERICA/LOCAL CITIZENS" by our LOCAL gas stores. Trade Mart in Columbia, NC, DID NOT RAISE GAS PRICES! THANKS! Regular gas this afternoon was $3.549/gal. What is OUR Attorney General Roy Cooper going to do about this problem which has been going on for years? Maybe the "INVESTIGATIVE TEAM" of WNCT will find the answer and bring some relief to the citizens of Eastern NC. Thank You WNCT.
Prices soared in New Bern for no apparent reason
I'm in Morehead City and gas at 10:00 this morning was $4.36 at the JP station on Arendell and less that a mile at the Citgo it was $4.09 and WalMart was $4.17. I don't understand and wish someone would tell me how a Hurricane that is suppose to have shut down a few refiners in the Gulf when there are many more refiners can cause almost a $1.00 hike in less than 24 hours. Where is the help for us?
there is no help for us. our society has become one where the federal government runs our daily lives, not the state running itself as was intended when our country was founded. let's be logical, does any one really believe we have even a few federal officials who aren't corrupt? or at this point even state officials? our politicians rake in the dough sitting on their rumps with big business pulling the strings. the sad thing is average people who vote them in office have no alternatives, look at our presidential candidates. instead of having real chioces to chose from our elections have become just pick the lesser of two evils. until we as a people unite and ban the interest of big business in politics over the average american being able to eat and drive to work, and keep our politicians in line by them only making a minimal salary, something similar to a military pay scale, they are government employees, then they might care about those who do have to worrry if they buy their kids a happy meal today, can they afford to go to work tomorrow?
to get your answer to why the prices are out of reason, just type in new world order in your search engine.
Well, I've been keeping tabs on the gas price at the local convenient store in my neighborhood since before Hurricane Hanna and Ike even arrived. And I've noticed that the price there compared to the prices of other gas stations in nearby towns was and still is outrageously high.
Right now, the price for regular unleaded gas is $4.99 and the price of unleaded plus is $5.29. I just left a near by town and the gas there was $3.99. Talk about a serious $1.10 jump just crossing city limits.
This has been going on for a while though. And no one has ever said anything until now. I've always guessed the owner priced this way because he was the only store in the neighborhood. Either way, for whatever reasons, I don't think it's fair to the customers. It's enough to pay the $3.99. We don't need someone trying to make their pockets fatter by gouging our pockets thinner. That's why I refuse to buy fuel of any kind there. It's ridiculous to pay that much.
Eye on your side, should try to cracking the code to that mystery and see just why he is pricing his gas so high. That would certainly get some answer for us as his customers.
To add, the name of that store is called Pea Ridge Convenient Store in Skinnersville, NC. If you ever go by it, you will see what I'm talking about.
