Ms. Conyers is part of the problem. She, and ridiculous Detroit city government are the reason it is essentially a 3rd world city. She's a race-baiter, like her husband. Another joke, but on a higher scale. Detroit will always be like this until people like her are voted out of office. Don't expect any improvement anytime soon.

Conyers, BRC, Martha Reeves and the whole lot of the current edition of Fools Parade need to go as well as the tainted city charter. The local media must rip the charter apart and go to a strong mayor- ward system like Chicago. All of the infrastructure is in place: Police/Fire, roads, water, electricity and schools and divide by 5 districts based on population of 700,000 citizens or 140,000 citizen per ward.

This can be managed, existing vast waste land of corruption cannot.

Wayne State has a fine background for Urban Planning and given fact nowhere is cheaper to live then Detroit once the plan goes into effect it safe to say much good can come of a New Detroit.

Ask any African American who used to live in Detroit and now resides outside of it why they left---> This is the true story.

I support Monica Conyers, and the city council I believe that she has what it takes to move this city forward and that she has the best interest of the city at heart she truly cares about this city and that is just what we need we don't need leadership that will sell us out because of their own greedy interest and it is not at all about race. and all the negative comments that I see on this comment page and from the media I belive come from outside of the city of Detroit their angry because she's not their puppet on a string some one that they can control. she is just what we need way to Monica Conyers

You're a racist and a low life, you talk about your law degree from Wayne State but never passed the Michigan Bar.

Just bow out of the City Council and let some one else who knows what they are doing, are courteous and doesn't call some one 'Shrek' or act like a child run the council. I will not be back to the City till you and your crew of miscreants have left. But then again you probably do not want people 'who look like me' there anyway!

I am troubled by your outburt. Our children are watching you. Monica learn to stay in control. Shelia is right you need an attitude review. Gods real children don't act like you do. We need you to work with our young people. But if they see you like this. We are in for a surprise. Get back in order or get off the council. I will not support you when you act like this. It is very sad that with all the diplomas that Monica shows off, she still seems very uneducated. On the other hand, councilman Kenyatta shows himself to be very professional, and educated. Monica has no class, no integrity, easily prone to slander and badmouthing - definitely does not hold characteristics necessary for an effective leadership role in government. Detroit, wake up...Do not be deceived any longer.

it amazes me how we all can focus so much energy on frivilous backbiting race baiting and name calling when we should be focused on the big picture our city is gone to hell our elected officials seem to not care about the condition things are in we are living in poverty with resources that are never accessible when we need them i wish i could give a solution to the problems but the first step is admitting we have one(un dedicated city council members)

I have been in out of Detroit from the year 1955 untel now 2009.I know that Detroit could be one for the best citys in the world.The frist thing that has to be done to make it work is.Monica Conyers to be gone.She is a problem.She is not a leader.

Ms. Conyers is the most racist person I have ever heard. I was listening to the radio the other day and she had to point out the race of her son. What having a white child is bad? Then she proceeded to call the radio hosts racist. But she "knew" one was black because of what he said. What? If a white person said that, it would be racist. Oh wait it is. She helps perpuate the hatred between Detroit and metro Detroit. How is this in the best interest of Detroit? Downtown only exists if and only if an outlying metro area exists.

I wish you would spend some money and get some help. You have a mental problem that medicine would help Monica. Please listen to all these nasty comments and get some help.
