I think the name Blaze would be more appropriate than the others.

I like the name Siegfried for this bird. In Wagner's "Ring Cycle", the knight Siegfried steps thru magical fire to rescue Brunnhilde. This bird has come thru the fire to rescue the CA condor population, and rescuers worked thru the fire's aftermath to insure his safety.

I love Randel's idea.

I was thinking Phoenix before I saw the name ready to choose from and Autumn thought of Blaze and we entered that in the other catergory. I like Randels suggestion also but the first thing I thought of was Siegfried and Roy and Tigers until I read the reasoning. ..

I would suggest "Spirit 08" for the name. This would represent not only the bird's survival, but also all the efforts of everyone involved during and after the 2008 devastation to save the birds and rebuild the center. Truly an inspiration to those of us who can only read about your devotion.

Please consider the name Essie as a tribute to the Esselen Nation of the Ventana Wilderness.
