Should Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell Lose His Job After Comments Attributed To Him About Illegal Immigrants Were Published In A News Story?

The Sheriff is correct. North Carolina has been overrun by people of the Mexican Race. Who is left in Mexico? My boyfriend has not been allowed to work on certain sites because he is NOT Mexican. My boyfriend is a plumber and has been for 30 years. But he has had problems getting work because the Mexicans will work cheaper. Racial profiling is a tool used by law enforcement to keep crime down. Oh well, boo hoo, I've been racially profiled, take all the tree huggers and put them in Idaho or someplace along way away. And all the Mexicans please go home. But you know there is poetic justice going on in the neighborhoods of Durham and I'm sure Johnston County, as the blacks moved the whites out in the 1960s, along with Martin Luther King's mantra, so now the Mexicans are moving the blacks out of the very same neighborhoods. Poetic Justice!!!! Sweet. Keep the Sheriff, he's doing the right thing as mandated by Quantico, Virginia where racial profiling was first done. I read a book about racial profiling by the best in the field and it made sense to me. If I am doing something wrong, I should be caught and punished. And let's face it, it is the poorest among both races who commit all or most of the crimes. It's not the Sheriff's fault, and it's not my fault. It is the crooks fault for being stupid. There I have had my say and I have wanted to say it for a long time. Oh Boo Hoo they don't like me.

Why do we have to nit pick everything someone says. After all, his opinion is just that, his opinion. I had much rather have someone tell me up front what he truthfully thinks, than have someone lie to me and tell me what he thinks I want to hear. Sheriff Bizzell is correct. A lot of people feel that way but scared to say it for fear of going through what the sheriff if now going through. I admire him for standing up to what is right and for voicing the truth about illegals.

Sheriff Bizzell is an excellent leader of one of the best departments in the South. He is credited with being proactive in addressing DWI arrests and for road checks that has been proven to stop criminal activity across our county. There are thousands of silent citizens tonight who believe in him and feel that, while what he said to the media was improper, he metes out justice fairly and impartially.
Many people, when accompanied by news media personel, will make off the wall statements that are not indicative of their true feelings, but perhaps their frustrations in what they observe but cannot act upon. There ARE many, many accidents and deaths attributed to the Hispanic community and their beliefs that driving while drinking or drunk, while legal in their country, is ok here. Families here are, meanwhile, being destroyed due to their uncaring attitude towards this social issue.

As for me and my family,, and my many friends in Johnston County and the Law Enforcement Communty, Kudos for Sheriff Bizzell. Sheriff, just be conscious of who is riding shotgun with you.

I have to say Ms. William's comments are some of the most racist and prejudiced I have hear/see/read in a very long time. I am at a loss for words on how to respond. It's because of people like yourself that minorities in this country have such a hard time. The color of your skin or your nationality has no bearing on whether or not you will commit a crime. Before making such just plain crazy comments, you should have done some research - yet I doubt that someone of your caliber could even understand and apply the research appropriately. Sheriff Bizzell's comments were a blanket statement that make a lot of people look bad. Immigrants of all races and nationalities, including your ancestors, have come to this country for hundreds of years - most have worked hard to achieve the American Dream. Steve Bizzell is someone in Johnston County who gets things done, plain and simple. I usually don't pay attention too much about any local public persons/positions or know much about them (I do on a state and national level though ;-) ) but I have to say I am very familiar with who Steve Bizzell is. I live in Johnston County and I have actually kept up with his "victories" against drug trafficking through our state along I-95, homemade meth labs, and DWI arrests and more checkpoints. I am particularly happy with him because like so many others in our state, I am fed up with the illegal immigrants here. My husband and I travel to see our friends across the country and we find out that many Americans elsewhere are completely unaware of how bad it has become here in NC because too many of the reports are focused on the southwestern states. Personally, I think it is the number 1 issue in our state right now and in the upcoming NC elections.

It's not about racial profiling, it's not about "their rights" and I am no bigot. It's about TAXES and DWI deaths/serious injuries for cryin' out loud. Bizzell's comment about "breeding like rabbits" I am sure comes out of frustration that so many of the illegals are procreating (and/or bringing many children with them) and NOT PAYING TAXES and thus us taxpayers are footing "their bills" from the hospitals, ERs, and SCHOOLS (translation=property taxes) that they attend and/or overcrowd.

DWI deaths have not only become a weekly event here, it's that 9 times out of 10 they are from drunk illegals with no insurance, no driver's license, and no sense of responsibility for their actions of drinking and driving. They are destroying lives and families and the only concern seems to be about their rights being violated. The other 1 out of 10 is usually teenage-related. I have been keeping track of this particular issue for over a year now and IT IS A RACE-SPECIFIC PROBLEM! How many more legal residents do they have to kill or seriously mame for life before we start racially profiling them on our roads (without repercussions from the ACLU and such) so that we can put a stop to this? The local Hispanic population/organizations are fully aware that DWI is a huge problem within "their community" and they keep trying to address it through their own Spanish-speaking programs. The way I see it is this: they know they have a problem; they are DWI; and have a disregard for other's lives and therefore, they have only themselves to blame for shining a glaring light on their race-specific problem.

My real concerns are that 1) Bizzell will lose his job and we will get a pansy-arse to replace him that will be more worried about being politically correct then serving and protecting JCounty residents and 2) ACLU is requesting a lot of documentation about handling practices and DWI arrests of Hispanics. The ACLU could very well undo the work our county's sheriff's department has been working so hard to fix because they will contest all of the recent DWI arrests on Hispanics and either get the charges thrown out and/or reduced charges/punishment all because in the eyes of a few "their legal rights" may have been violated, even though they aren't legal (WTF? where does it end? and can we say clogging our judicial system and prisons too?). Oh, and free legal representation from the ACLU. C'mon this is utter nonsense and makes me sick.

As a resident of Johnston County, I am COMPLETELY pleased with the job Sheriff Bizzell has done since he took office. So, he made a few "politically incorrect" comments... WHY DOES IT REALLY MATTER?? The truth is simply the truth. I'd love to have Sheriff Bizzel in our county. If you want to see a trashy town, please visit Siler City, Chatham County. If you visit the Haw River (canoe access area) section of Jordan Lake, you will see trash everywhere. I won't blame any particular party; just go and look at who's there throwing down beer cans and dirty diapers. Something needs to be done to educate everyone, that throwing garbage on the ground is illegal. I identify with Sheriff Bizzell's anger which triggered his so called "inappropriate" comments when he reacted to yet another illegal immigrant killing someone in a traffic "accident". My Dad was killed in a wreck in 2002 by a Mexican illegal, who had 4 DWI arrest, of which he never went to court, always slipping through the crack by changing his identity. Ironically he had worked at the same manufactured housing facility in Siler City, under two alias' where I also worked. Those who dislike the Sheriff's comments probably don't have this experience. Given time; the probability is high, they will. I guess Websters needs to review the meaning of illegal. Get rid of the root cause; the rest of the problems may just go away.

Having recently moved to the triangle area from southern California, I know 1st hand the fatal outcome when our leaders do not speak honestly about a failing system.The serious issue of a growing population of undocumented immigrants strains our city and state government on every level. Sheriff Bizzell and other elected officials have a front row seat to weakness(es) of our systems and I honor that he had the courage to speak up before it's too late as it now is for southern California. I may not agree with the ill-chosen use of the rabbit analogy but I do agree with him. Thank you, Sheriff Bizzell, for being vocal about this issue. I hope more government leaders will have the strength to give top priority, honesty and transparency to the serious illegal immigration situation in North Carolina.

Lose his job? Punish Him? Let me tell you those of you that could even think that way, NO way in Hell, should he be punished let alone lose his job. Sheriff Bizzell has done a fine job in Johnston County and he only spoke the truth!!! Truth doesn't hurt people, it hurts their stupid redicullous feelings. As a cancer patient fighting for the last 8 years consistently on chemotherapy re-occurances in 2004 and 2006 and currently fighting the disease hard as I can to spend a litttle more time here with my family and I apply for medicaid and guess what, my husband makes too much damn money. We are lucky if he clears 450 dollars a week after taxes and paying insurance for him and our daughter. By the way, it just went up 90 more dollars for a 60/40 plan. Yep. I get medicare, but thats only because when I was diagnosed in 2000 it was stage 4 and metastatic. They thought I'd be dead in a couple of years, but oh yeah ,don't mess with me and my faith in what God can do. Well enough, The reason i'm mentioning all this is because all the immigrants can come here, to my county. They eat 10 times better than me and my family because we don't qualify. They get rent assistance, light bill assistance and yes the Health Choice for their Kids that costs next to nothing, if anything, so they can afford to multiply like rabbits over here in our county of North Carolina. Yep, I said it to, so punish me if you must, but lets say I can't lose my job for saying the truth, because right now the only job I have is to take chemo ever 2 weeks and fight to live, so whatcha want to do with me????? Leave Sheriff Bizzell alone and tell the media to go cover something fricking important, like the problem we have with illegal immigrants.. And that's my story, opinion, or whatever you chose to call it.

I stand on the side of the sherrif. I would hate for the N&O to print everything I ever said. I see a man expressing frustration with a no win situation. He is damned if he does and damned if he don't.
I say let the law enforcers use the laws of our land, give these men and women support when they enforce our laws already on the books.
If you sneaked in our country expected to be dealt with as a sneak. I do not care if you are red, yellow, black or white if you are illegal we have the right to send you home.
Rescend the law that makes anyone born here an automatic citizen. That law causes more trouble than anything else that I can think of. Our big shots in Washington are afraid they will not get re-elected if they were to bring up such an idea. It is time to put limits on terms you can be elected to office. The president leaves after eight years and so should all other elected officals.
This would drive our officals to push for their accomplishments. To leave their mark before their terms expire.

Once again everyone has forgotten the definition of illegal. Iam sure the Sheriff wishes he had never made those comments. I have never met the man although I hope to one day. I admire a person who speaks their peace on issues concerning our State and Country. It is ashame that our other elected officials are not the same. Its more about the party now, than the people. I see nothing wrong with people wanting to better themselves or make better living. I do see something wrong with breaking the laws of our great state. Hang in there Sheriff , you might make Governor. You got my vote. Maybe we should ask the people of California and Florida how they feel. It's not about race, it's about doing the right thing. We cannot continue to be big brother to the world. Wake up America.

Hurray for Fred Bronson, Randy, Gerardo, Denise Rogers, Lori Lee for "telling it like it is"! I agree with all of you and I agree with Steve Bizzell. We have all let the illegals go to far. The good ole USA that is too good for its own good ! Yes, this is the fine land of opporturnity if your are mexican! They know how to beat the system and are taking advantage of it and then poor old folks that have worked and paid in taxes can't get help .

I'm all for LEGAL immigrants.....I have no sympathy for ILLEGAL immigrants....The law is the law! NO exceptions....as a NC native I'm not allowed to break any laws and I resent that some people who thing ILLEGAL immigration is OK.....B.S.

Just look at the shopping center parking lot on Atlantic Ave (frequented mostly by Latinos and again another mostly Latino-patronized grocery's parking area behind Red Lobster....tell me if they are not trashy. About a year ago I complained to the mayor of Raleigh about both these shopping places. Our city should not tolerate this nastiness. I no longer patronize these places so I do not know what action the city took. I know of no other shopping places that look so filthy. The Sheriff must be commented on places like these that he has seen in his county. So ACLU and all the ILLEGAL Latino sympathisers...BACK OFF.

For the benefit of all Latino/as who say we are ignorant because we call all of you Mexicans: THE WORD "MEXICAN" IS USED GENERICALLY by most, I believe to refer to all Spanish-speaking folks mostly from Central America (and I'll add usually refers to the ILLEGALS because there are so many of you in NC). I'd like to think most Americans have no problem with LEGAL Latinos.

The Sheriff is correct. Wake up North Carolina !!! Secure the borders and other points of entry. Employ and train a sufficient number of U.S. border patrol agents. Utilize National Guard troops to assist in providing border security.

Eliminate the jobs magnet and social benefits. Enforce employer sanctions. Eliminate government financial aid for illegal alien students. Enforce existing laws to reduce the U.S. illegal population.

Reject amnesty or "legalization" programs for illegal aliens.

Promote cooperation between federal, state and local law enforcement officials, with emphasis on interior enforcement.

Prohibit eligibility to services offered by financial institutions in the United States. No driver's licenses for illegal aliens.

Designate English as the official language of the U.S. government and print all documents, including election ballots, in the English language only. Screen and track foreign visitors legally entering the U.S.

I would like to file a Formal Complaint against the ACLU for racially profiling "Southern White Sheriff Males" and making false racial slurs against them. Calling them racists, posting official letters via web, Humiliating their ideology and beliefs, forcing their open mindedness on others, assuming that they are wrong in believing what momma thought them as right

Refinement, people. A person can say anything he or she wants to, and it will not be deemed offensive or racist. You need a little education, a dictionary, and some finesse.
That said, if a person of authority deems it necessary to make certain comments, he or she should certainly have the proper education and tools to say it affectively and responsibly. That way, his or her point is not lost in any controversy that otherwise would ensue. As in this case.

What is truly sad about this is state legislators create and protect this illegal alien sanctuary. Then, they expect local jurisdictions to enforce the law despite the influx of illegal aliens (who have no regard for the law) - and trying to tie their hands as they do.

NC (state legislators) WANTS illegal aliens to move into the state as cheap labor, without corporate benefits. These business owners paid good money to state legislators' campaigns to make this happen. And being good legislators, they obliged those who make it possible to reign again.

NC is not serious about returning to NC to the citizens and legal residents. If legislators were, E-Verify would be a state mandate as it is in AZ (McCain's state - go figure!)

While Sheriff Bizzell is being chastised for doing his job, state legislators are praised and financially compensated for not doing theirs.

There is some truth to the adage that good guys finish last - but must they really be so beat up before the bad guys are exposed?
