I am thankful for John McCain and Sarah Palin....what an example of Great leaders! We will be blessed to have them lead our Country!
STAND UP! STAND UP! STAND UP! GO MCCAIN/PALIN!!! Great speech by our next President McCain on Thursday night. Great speech by Gov. Sarah Palin on Wednesday night. They walk the talk. GO GOP 2008!!! jsWhidbeyIsland WA
As a republican since 1986 who has lost faith in our party, I want to express my deep disappointment in the John McCain campaign and the Republican Party for selling out. The "dishonorable" use of his distinguished military career, pathetic abuse of the 9/11 tragedy for political purposes at the convention and his "token woman" vice presidential pick confirms that politics is not about serving your country and a cause greater than yourself. It is about winning elections. This party is no longer about issues. It is about getting people who are not smart enough to understand the issues to vote for you because you can control their emotions. Not much different than many churches who inject politics into religion, multilevel marketing companies, cults or extreme Muslim radical. There is nothing honorable, dignified or heroic when you have to constantly tell everyone you are honorable, dignified and a hero. The fact is that is nothing short of dishonorable, undignified and cowardly.
To my faithful sheep... As much as I want you to believe in staying with the flock and vote republican without questioning why, I have to admit Cindy's speech was "vanilla" and John McCain's was nothing more tha "beige". Still, you need to cling to the issues like guns and religion and vote republican.
Senator McCain & Gov Palin inspired, motivated, and revived the American spirit. The Dem Obama talking heads are in SHOCK!!!!!!! 2 word: Jackson / Shaprton
I felt the speech did what it needed to accomplish. This speech (acceptance of nomination) is intended to tell the voting people who he is and announce his major concerns. The media keeps talking about wanting details, but is that the purpose of this speech? If there were no debates or campaigning (both also covered by the media) he would have had to go into details...and made the speech so long peoples' attention would vanish. This speech made me want to know the details, of which I will pick up as I closely follow both sides until election day. The past few weeks alerted me to the importance of being informed and showed me that people do listen to my concerns. Fight for change!
I was going to vote for John McCain, grudgingly, anyway. I was not happy with his stand on the illegal alien bill since I have had illegals sneaking up on me in my front yard, trying to talk themselves into my home and trying to take my vehicle, then breaking into my home. But since he has chosen Sarah Palin as a running mate I believe she will keep him in line...give him some adult supervision, so to speak. The pair seem now to make an excellent ticket and I look forward to McCain/Palin in the White House.
When I look at the two candidates, I have drawn some comparisons: Obama's close relatioship with the terrists and the influence from his communist fater can't stop me wondering the direction he is going to take this country to and no wonder his wife said she was never proud of this country until now. We cannot judge a person completely by who is surrounding himself with, but people around him is a very important influence to who he has become. Look at Mccain, four generations of great services to this country, a man serves in honor and in trust, surrounding himself with honest and heroic people, who else can better serve this country than him. President needs to have people's trust first, needs to have respect from our allies and fear from our enemies. I don't believe Senator Obama has that kind of caliber. Obama is at most a good public speaker. Kimberly Johnson Alhambra, CA
Too bad the media is so biased, none of those I heard even mentioned that he admitted that both parties have erred in the past, nor have they focused on his record of voting across party lines (only 6 others have done it more) versus Obama who ranks #11 in voting party lines .........but I'm wasting my time you have your agenda and your more concerned in demonstrating you ability to sway opinion to your views than being fair and objective....
I had not made up my mind who I was voting for until I heard the lines from John McCain about how he "hated war" but was going to fight for America, protect America, bring it back to where it used to be.....for the Americans he will fight...to admit his self centeredness and then his true love of country, where he has fought for his country and will die fighting for his country, to reform our country.........yes he was slow to take off however he finished with a bang, the people stood listening, moved to tears by the end, joining with McCain, he drew them in. Senator McCain drew me in, made me understand clearly why he is in a "fight" mode....it is a fight to bring our country back together, change indeed, it made me have tears in my eyes at the end of his speech. I believe he is REAL and he and Governor Palin are going to bring our economy back and lower our taxes. God Bless the USA and Senator McCain. No boring speech....a great moving speech where McCain pulled it off in the end!
heh-m. claudio - get a life!!!! you are 100% stupidly wrong in your evaluation of Senator McCains campaign. His speech tonight was absolutely wonderful. He and Palin are just what this country and the conservative party need. Our country is at stake here. Your freedom and mine and our children and grandchildren is in jeopardy. We need to know everything about the lives of those running for Pres. of (OUR) UNITED STATES. What I know now about obama and his wife versus McCain and Cindy is an amazing contrast. We won't have a free country if we choose obama. There is much EVIL in his path for presidency. Much, much evil. May You, our Father in heaven bless America and take us down the right path, and bless our soldiers who are keeping you M. Claudio and me free. My abundant prayers and thanks to all of our soldiers.
Senator John McCain and Governor Palin will give the common person a voice in Washington. Politics are refreshing and inspiring under their leadership. Unselfess love of Country. Stand up America, Stand up and be heard!
I as an independent have made up my mind. It has been a long 2 weeks. John and Sarah you have my thanks, prayers and vote!
What a pitiful ticket the republicans have presented. I'm a republican and I'll be voting for Obama no doubt. Not only is the Democratic ticket more qualified and more energizing, McCain is simply too old to serve and Palin is too unqualified. Is McCain seriously telling us that Palin is the most qualified republican VP candidate? You have to be kidding. When looking at the Actuary tables, McCain at 72 and 4 bouts with Cancer, will not live out his first term. McCain has been harping about the need for Foreign Affairs experience. He violated his own standard in selcting Palin who has zero foreign affairs experience. My other republican friends attemtp to answer that by comparing her to Obama. That's not the issue. The decision by McCain to select a VP candidate completely unqualified on the issue he has stated over and over as the most important qualification to be President is pathetic. He has completely sold out himself and his party. As far as Palin, let me see if I understand: she's in the middle of a scandal regarding favortism for her brother, she cut spending for children with special needs in Alaska and then has a downes syndrome child when should could have aborted the pregnancy, she has dictated financial support for teaching abstinance over sexual education and now has a 17 year old daughter who is pregnant, based her gubinatorial campaign being FOR the road to nowhere and ACCEPTED the money for the bridge then went back for additional federal funding to spend on roads (she didn't give the money back like so many seem to think). And since when does a 17 year old pregnant daughter earn compassion and understanding? It's not OK for a 17 year old girl to get pregnant so stop trying to make it acceptable - it's not. Her situation should be held up as a BAD example, not one that envokes compassion. And finally, what responsible parent KNOWINGLY brings her 17 year old daughters condition which should be private and confidential on to the world stage. Clearly she is a lousy parent with her own self interests and not those of her child. This is a reckless ticket that deserves to be severally criticized by my party. I'm embarrassed and ashamed. Mitt Romney could have solidified this ticket, but at this point it's Obama in a landslide.
I have to say that on both instances (i.e Palin speech and McCain's speech), it has been brought up that their speeches were written. Well we know that Obama's speeches are written for him yet nobody makes that statement. Because without a prompter he cannot put two sentences together. why are you making that point about Palin and McCain and not Obama? Not very fair and balance.
M claudio you have never been a republican, good try, (Obama drive by) Because if you were you would use your brain and vote McCain.
I thought I would never hear two honest speeches ever from any politician, but tonight and last night, it was a first for me. Both Sarah and John were truthful from start to finish! Just another thought. If you want to know both sides of an issue, have both sides represented at the same time. It does not help when you let the other side represent their side with lies. Obama's taxes will hurt the middle class by more taxes on social security, higher capital gains taxes, higher taxes on investment income and pensions, higher seath taxes, etc. Also, have the other side tell the whole truth as so what McCain said about 100 years in in the Middle East. The gentlemen you interviewed tonight doesn't tell the complete story and if you want to know the facts about an issure and clear up your confusion, at least let us have our side represented.
I am curious how much money was raised for the people who was flooded out from the hurricane. There was much word about all the phone lines going in on the first day of the Republican Convention to raise funds but I have heard nothing about the funds raised... Please enlighten the America's, how generous are we?
M. Claudio ... I agree with you that John McCain is in fact a true American Hero. As a Democrat since 1960, I am so ashamed of Obama. He has turned out to be such a despicable, devious liar. Now that he has been proven, beyond any doubt, to be totally corrupt, I cannot vote Democrat this year. I will vote for our true American hero, John McCain.
Obama Traitor - ---- I also was a Democrat, until this hideous time of Obama. In just the last 6 months I have seen how the likes of Obama, Dean, Pelosi, and Biden have perverted the Democrat party into a group of lying, disgusting, Anti American, un-patriotic, socialist/Communist, scum bags. No more can I be a part of the traitorous group of criminals called Democrats.
I was very inspired tonight and last night. I am a Democrat who was undeceided until tonight. I don't think you always have to stick with your party if you do not agree with their policies. I do not care for Joe Biden and I have grown weiry of the Democrat led Congress who have done less than nothing in the past 2 years. They started off saying "There is a new Congress in town". And that was it. I really like Sarah Palin and John McCain. So this Democrat is changing parties for the first time in 35 years.
JOHN McCAIN DEFINITELY HAS MORE EXPERIENCE THAN OBAMA. HE HAS WORKED FOR US ALL OF HIS ADULT LIFE. IN ADDITION TO PROVING HE LOVES HIS COUNTRY ENOUGH TO DIE FOR US, THE HONORABLE JOHN S. MCCAIN HAS PROVEN HE ALSO HAS GOOD JUDGMENT. ONE EXAMPLE OF HIS GOOD JUDGMENT IS HIS CHOICE OF SARAH PALIN FOR VP! I don't agree with anyone on ALL issues. I just weigh the two sides and go with the one that has the most to offer America --- ON DAY ONE. BIDEN SAID OF OBAMA: "WE DON'T NEED A PRESIDENT IN TRAINING!" I agree --- He makes lots of promises but has nothing solid to back them up. Also, Obama has told so many lies about so many things that I simply do not trust him. He has lost credibility. I EXPECTED SARAH PALIN TO GET ON BASE WITH HER SPEECH --- BUT I DID NOT ANTICIPATE THE GRAND SLAM HOME RUN! It doesn't matter who helped write the speech --- she adlibbed most of it --- straight from the heart! Did you guys hear how the teleprompter Sarah Palin was reading cut off every first two lines? It was going too fast sometimes, and she had to adlib a lot of stuff --- including the “pitbull” comment! Also, they didn’t have a final draft for her to read. She had a crumpled up earlier draft and she said, “that’s ok, I’ll just iron it out on this book”! She is a breath of fresh air and brings a change we can believe in. I’d love to see Obama give a speech without the help of a teleprompter (and his 300 advisors whispering into his hidden earpiece)! HAD OBAMA BEEN VETTED BY THE DNC AND BIASED MEDIA --- HILLARY WOULD BE THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE! I'M VOTING FOR McCAIN / PALIN IN NOVEMBER.
Never fails, when I hear McCain talk, he is talking about he being a POW. Tonight, I turned on the speech and what was he talking about the second I turned it on... being a POW. Okay, okay, I get that he was a POW, but how far is he going to ride it? Now it is getting like Rudy talking about 911. It is now taking something important and turning it into just a campaign gimmick. It is unfortunate that he got captured, but he shouldn't have been flying a jet anyway. He was reckless when flying fighters worth millions of dollars of tax payer's money. He was allowed to do it not because he was qualified but because he was the privileged son riding on the accomplishments of his father. That is another reason he is like George W. We need a fresh approach to the presidency. Obama's entire campaign has been well run, ESPECIALLY financially. Despite all the attacks, Obama still strong and has my vote. He is a smart man who surrounds himself with the best of the best... and no that doesn't include Rezco. That's how I want the presidency run. Conservatives are so quick to point a finger at him and claim he is crooked. Republicans have been pretty crooked, so I want to give Obama the opportunity to make the change he promises. The ticket is balanced the right way to get things done. I'M VOTING OBAMA!!!
McCain no doubt will not be around to finish out his term and it scares the hell out of me to think of Sarah Palin stepping into being the President. She is a very vivacious, charasmatic person...she simply does not have the background to do the job. Condoleeza Rice would have been a lot more practical pick or many other women in Congress and in the states that have dealt with such things as war, immigration, etc.
Barb ... It may be kind of scary to think of Palin, a brillient, young, go getter, with more experience than Obama, being President if something happens to McCain, but that is not as scary as the thought of the, know nothing, do nothing, empty suit, liar named Obama being President. Especially scary is if something happened to the empty suit Obama, and the criminal Biden accidently slithered into the office. WoW ... that is scary.
THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION WAS A CIRCUS! ALL ABOUT OBAMA! HE BELONGS IN HOLLYWOOD — NOT IN OUR WHITE HOUSE. DID HE TAKE HIS GREEK COLUMNS HOME WITH HIM? THE MAN IS AN EGOTISTICAL HYPOCRITE. THE REPUBLICAN CONVENTION WAS ABOUT “AMERICA” — COUNTRY FIRST! I have a real problem with people dissing Sarah Palin on the experience factor. My Point: Time spent in politics does not equal positive results. Example: Obama has had years swimming around the sewers of Cook County politics, benefited from his associations (Ayers, Rezko, Farrakhan, Wright) to further his personal ambitions. Palin started kicking butt on corruption on the oil and gas commission and then beat the good ole boys in corrupt Republican politics in Alaska. The result is the few years Palin worked for the people of Alaska was very productive as opposed to Obama’s rising with a stench from the sewer he swam in, no accomplishments. Congressional experience? Other than naming post offices and inventing holidays and lining their own pockets, just what have they done lately for Americans? I'M VOTING FOR THE HONORABLE JOHN McCAIN IN 2008!
TV and newspapers are to report the news. They are to know that they are reporting the true. They are not to show sides. The American people are to decide from the truthful information given to us from honest newsmen who research their comments and sign their name that it is the true. Can't believe a thing you read in the newspapers any more and only l/2 of what you hear on the TV. Good luck American. Listen to the persons running and decide on all the issue, who you feel would be best to lead this great nation. You get what you ask for...Good Luck America
Excellent ticket for the Republicans. As a Democrat and a Hillary supporter I will side with McCain/Palin this year because the Obama has totally disappointed me with his half truths and half lies about himself and his ill-choice of NOT selecting Hillary for his running mate. He and his "good o'boys" are sexist. Obama is just a "puppet" for the controlling Democratic power makers. I can see Obama being stringed along in every step he takes and he does on good for this nation. My wife and I have decided to vote for McCain and Palin. Palin is really "some lady, a bulldog with lipstick" (lol). She's got some great stuff. Can't wait to see the Biden/Palin debate. She will eat him up and spit him out onto Obama's doormate.
After hearin both sides of the conventions, I have concluded that Palin has excellent experience as compared with Obama. I have done some research on Obama and his experience as a community worker and in the legislature and find that he does not have very much experience at all. Even though he said that he had voted and crafted a couple of important legislation, the bills were simple and already in the works for approval anyway. He just put his name on the paper and now he says he created the bill, what a lie. Here's the truth, you can find it all out on the web. Palin has more executive experience than Obama and he is on the top of his ticket while Palin with more experience is on the bottom of her ticket. God help us if Obama is president. Read the facts. Obama tries to show that he is of executive official by voicing his views about the Russian invasion of Georgian nation. Three times he voiced his opinion and then he said that he will approach the UN for help, but he forgot that Russia has veto power that can cancel out any suggestion by its other UN members. What an embarisiment. He just doesn't have the experience and knowledge of how to be a president. Biden is part of the good o'boys and has done very little in terms of reaching across the aisle. He has run twice already to become president because his party did not vote him in.. What does that tell you about Biden. Obama is just another junior legislator that is being pulled on strings by the senior member of government. Actually, Obama is the Democratic puppet. Yes, the "Obama Puppet," always for sale and will not talk back and will do as you say (Democrats).
Here's three Hillary supporters voting for McCain/Palin. She is real and she is out to break the glass ceiling and we want to help her do it! After seeing and listening to Palin's speech, we were won over by her real american spirit and her charm and realness, "hockey mom" and she can shoot and promises to be an advocate for families with children with special needs. And who knew, Cindy McCain has a masters degree in education specializing in special education! I know that there will be many families with special need children that will surely take another look at the McCain/Palin ticket. We, families with special needs children has waited for a long time for someone in the White House that understand our concerns and challenges we go through everyday. We will be talking to our neighbors to convince them to vote for McCain/Palin. they are real people. Obama seem to be just following the democratic rheteric, nothing really new.
As for M. Claudio in sheep's clothing. You are really a Democrat! You can't even see the lies that Obama has conveyed these last few weeks. Look into his work and life as a politican. I have. His experience has not "meat." It's all fluff and he is just following along the Democratic lines like a puggy. He is a junior legislator. Just look at his legislative voting records and also see what bills he has signed. He has lousy judgement on foriegn affairs that has been surfacing the last few weeks. I must tell you something that many people don't know. Majority of the older Asians will NOT be voting for Obama. Younger Asians don't care and the middle class Asians don't like taxes and they know that if a Democrat takes control of government, taxes will increase and that takes away money from their paycheck.
I am not an american and not living in america but americans are so lucky to have the likes of John Mccain who in his heart believes that America and the Americans are worth dying for...i saw both convention and one thing i noticed about obama is that he is nothing but a lawyer inside the court room, with his interview at o'reily factor thats the greatest mistake in his life though only the first part was shown but i know he rgretted such interview for he just admitted that he was wrong for not supporting your american troops in iraq. obama speaks without life and spirit, you can tell it from his eyes. To John Mccain and Sarah Palin God is with you both...god bless
To MARK T You are obviously an ignorant individual, and the Republicans are better off with your absence. For every idiot like you there are 2 more individuals with a little itelligence. Obviously a powerful woman threatens your manhood. Lisa S
JOHN McCAIN's speech was good. It was a sincere, honest interview (if you will) to ask the people to trust him; explaining what he wants to do for them as President. Details of the issues and his plans will be presented as the weeks come along. I'm looking forward to the Debates. Hopefully, they will use the forum like the SADDLEBACK CHURCH - which was very candid and fair looking into the candidates of what they are really about i.e., No preparation of their answers to the questions before hand. It wasn't a flashy, preacher-like speech, like OBAMA's...which doesn't impress me, for such a high office of leadership. CINDY McCAIN - was the surprise speaker of the night. I didn't realize that she was so active in helping children over the years. I was impressed by her, in the substance of who she is...doesn't matter if she was a "good speech giver". Cindy McCain will make a wonderful First Lady, who all America will be proud. Good representation for the people. SARAH PALIN - well, what can I say - very impressive and a "doer” not just talk. She is well qualified and if anyone doesn't think that she could take over the Presidency - if need be - I disagree. She will be on board with all the Washington/Congress issues within a year of her holding office. She is good for this country. Overall - The DNC convention was too flashy and Hollywood for me. It was almost like they had to do that to overshadow the emptiness of the substance of their candidate (Obama). If people are worried about SARAH PALIN’s ability to take over as President, if needed......they really should think about and be concerned with BIDEN taking over, if needed - if something should happen to OBAMA. Joe Biden is less qualified to be President, with a trigger temperament and history of lying, that we all should be concerned about when making decisions for our country.
Ingles is my second lenguage, I Love this country. God bless America. Thanks God for Mr. McCain and Sarah she will honor her name SARAH. GOD BLESS U.S.A
Reiterating on another person's post here..... Although the media is making a point that McCain and Palin's speeches were written for them...we really don't know how that process is. I'm sure they both have a say on the editing. Besides...if the media was Fair and Balanced - they would set the record straight about Sarah Palin's speech - that the Teleprompter wasn't working correctly - showing every-other line of her speech - plus the paper of the speech was damaged in some way. So.......she more or less adlibed a lot of her speech - which came from her heart.......INCLUDING "THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SOCKER MOM AND A PITBULL --- "LIPSTICK". THAT WAS A GREAT LINE!!!!
Today, I heard on Fox that Obama contacted Hillary for "help" to stump for him in Florida. Apparently, she's agreed. I think that is ony proof that Obama knows he's out manuvered in qualification within the Republican ticket. I say, OBAMA, IF YOU CAN'T WIN ON YOU OWN QUALIFICATIONS - YOU SHOULDN'T BE PRESIDENT - AND STOP "USING" HILLARY TO GET YOUR VOTES!!!
Gretta...if I was sceptial at the start (I'm a lifelong Conservative) That no longer is an option. Those that got me excited were Fred Thompson, His Honor, Rudy, the ex Mayor of New York City, and then...herself Mrs. Palin and as if she could not be topped, along came McCain last night! I am so enthaustic about this ticket I can't see how we can deny them. As to the candidates of "change" (can't tell you about them yet) how in the world will they be able to overcome the substance we witnessed this week? Oh, one other thing. I'm hearing from all my on the fence friends that they have come to their "right" thinking and will vote for McCain/Palin!
To Sean Hannity - if you are the real "Sean Hannity" - yes, their speeches weren't "red hot" - but I think the American People who are serious about where this country is going and want the best for it - doesn't care so much if the speeches are of style, as much as it is important if the candidates are sincere and trustworthy. The substance of the speech and the person is most important to me.
I think the difference in candidates is much like the difference in their spouses. One is bitter and negative, ashamed of America (Obama) and the other (McCain)has always put others first, much like our favorite Princess. We all know, our spouses are very strong influences in our thoughts and lives. Cindy McCain can be and has been our princess and our gift to the world.
I do not understand why Obama can talk about his life and Mr. McCain cannot talk about his life. I really can understand that. Obama say changes. changes what is the change a black president. Do not think I am white. My opinion is that Mr. McCain and Sarah can reform the white house. I pray every day for this country. God bless the U.S.A
OBAMA has two faces. The Obama who is in front of the camera with a Teleprompter and notes.. and The Obama who is in a one on one interview, without notes, without previewing the interviewers questions to prepare his answers.
M.CLAUDIO: Are you sniffing glue? Are you on drugs? Of course you want people on the ticket who people like and approve of. DUH! WE ARE THE ONES VOTING! The fact that Palin is about the "Washington As Usual Politics" is appealing to me and others. We only, you huge dufus, have 2 CHOICES! I suppose if the PEOPLES vote didn't matter they might as well put Barbara DIPCRAP Streisand and / or Ozzie Ozbourne - zone boy on the ticket. You speak as though your stupid or have NO political sense or knowledge. Of course your comments are so dumb maybe your just pulling our legs. HA HA HA
ERROR ERROR - SORRY ********** THAT PALIN IS "NOT" ABOUT WASHINGTON POLITICS AS USUAL. **************** I'M SO SICK OF WASHINGTON AND THEIR CORRUPTION. LOOK AT MR. CHARLIE RANGEL. WHAT A CHEAT AND THE GUY BLAMES HIS WIFE!!!!!!!!!!! NO WONDER THEIR APPROVAL RATING IS IN SINGLE DIGITS AND THATS WITH A "DEMOCRATIC" SENATE. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
