Really getting fed up with constant negative comments about school meals. The old stigma of lumpy custard and brown cabbage should be well and truly dropped. School meals now have a very high specification to meet. I work for the school meals service and our menus are nutrionally anlysed to meet both the goverment food based and nutrient standards, are freshly prepared even down to making our own bread and use local suppliers where ever possible. Please visit www.myschoollunch.co.uk/northyorks to see for yourself, and also see samples of our menus. A lot of hard work, dedication and skill go in to making sure the children in our area are served a healthy meal at lunch time, believe me when I say they have radically changed since the lumpy custard days.
