No love for the streetcar? I think we really need to focus on public transportation at the same time as (or before) we put our resources into better cars. As someone who cannot afford a car, I would jump at the chance to ride a streetcar rather than call up friends for rides (for personal errends, excluding carpooling), if only we had any public transit in town.

I won't buy anything American. I hate their foreign policy : drop a bomb and maybe we will talk sometime! In the meantime we will take control of your oil!

retool the people we dont need all the bells and whistles on haevy fourwheel drives that never go offf road or out it the bad weather.we need basics proof is at any local car show we love the old simple cars as much as the high powered chromed out machines but one one we can still drive everyday as it was ment to retool the people to a new simple car time.

This is not a "one size fits all" answer or question. A gas sipper will do for a while. En electric car has to be on the short/ meduim term planning board. Hydrogen will have to soon follow. Many of us in the renewable energy business (yes, that growing employment sector where things get lifted and delivered and installed) need a green truck. And all of us need electric hybrid bicycles, and electric scooters for no-load carrying trips.

I would consider it if the cars didn't feel cheap. I don't want a, junky, throw away car. I want a car built to last for 20+ years and not have the seat foam collapse and the plastic dash fade and crack. I'm willing to pay for quality. Also I expect very good visibility from the drivers seat If this sacrafices the exterior styling that's okay with me I don't car what it looks like on the outside - just give me nice on the inside.

No one makes the car I describe above. If you know of one please tell me about it in the comments.
