If the program is not used as a dumping but for actually redirection of behavior maybe it could be useful. Most programs are not fully funded or supported by school districts. This would make a good story. "What do the local alternative schools truly look like?" Start in the Wilson.
I think this is a good program and other counties should consider using it as a model. I think schools need to be compassionate in their actions and understand that students today have a lot to deal with in addition to their school work. With that said, expectations should be clear as well as consequences but teachers need to be careful not to abuse it. Treating students with dignity and respect at all times is essential in order to reach them whether they are in a traditional school or an alternative school. You have to reach them before you can teach them!
