As descriptors, introvert/extrovert get misused sometimes and people might think they are both if they are thinking introvert = loner/shy and extrovert = talkative/"people" person. Obviously there are some times when you feel more social/less social than others but usually you are not equally energized and not energized by intense or constant interactions with people (in other words, it really tends to be a binary state that is not mutable or a preference you can turn/on off based on your mood). A lot of people conflate extroversion with being "social" or outgoing but it's really more about where you are more able to get in "the zone" and feel energized (in constant contact with people, drawing on their energy = extrovert). If you usually feel drained or tired (esp. mentally) from an involved or prolonged interaction with people (think: conference, party, meetings, etc.) then you are probably an introvert (introverts draw energy from within and tend to recharge during solitary time).
