This was a brilliant post.
I just wish I had bothered to enter the competition too.
This post isn't that great. Most of the "typography sins" go against best practices. You can learn more from the comments than the article.
Concise and well-illustrated. These points were clear enough for me to forward to my copywriters without further explanation, and technically specific enough to avoid having to research further.
I liked this post a lot as I am writer, or at least I think I am, and can get a little anal about correct punctuation. Though, there is one thing I feel should have been included. For number 9, "not using accent characters," how exactly do you implement them when typing?
Thanks.
These are typography sins, not web typography sins. Setting your body text to 8px fonts is a WEB typography sin. Additionally, how are these the TOP TEN? Was there a survey/sampling of websites and the worst offenders recorded?
This compilation was not impressing in any way. Any person can read an introductory typography textbook and parrot the same fundamentals to you.
1/5.
I seriously hope the others will be better.
I like content, but examples given are not prepared correctly.
2nd not only mistakes should be shown but also how correct solution look should be given that help person to understand. Also this gives visual clue to remember solution correctly.
BTW, Good article.
