I think John watched the country fall in love with his wife, she became the star and was getting sympathy for her illness and the attention he craved was directed at her, so he went to the place that stroked his ego...how could he not? I identified with EW because we both lost a child. I watched her special on tv years ago. This woman had her children, lost one, then at 40 plus years old had 2 more children, and in spite of a progressive disease, she continued to support her husband.
