How do you feel about Management's response to the now enforced Minimum Crew Boarding rules?

Great - They are doing everything they can.

Good - I know they are trying to do something.

Neutral - It has not been a problem for me.

Poor - They knew the change was coming, and didn't prepare.

Our basic needs are not being met with this Minimum crew policy. We now should be paid from the time we check in to 30min after deplaning. Aren't we now entitled to 30 min lunch break with 2X 15 min breaks within a 8 hour day? How can FAA and SWA keep us hostage on that plane for over 10 hours a day? This is inhumane! I don't care about 5 early or on time if I can't even get a bite to eat or go to the real bathroom. Does SWA management understand that we can't give Positively Outrageous Service when OUR basic needs are not even met. I am so very upset!

This hasn't affected on how I do my job. I think it is only right to stay and clean the plane with all the crew. It's no biggie to get food prior to your day on the plane and/or pack a food bag. I would not want unpaid breaks (ground time) built into my schedule. I also wouldn't want carb packed unhealthy provided meals. This is FAA, so I think we just deal.

For all of you that voted POOR...... and just how do you think SWA can go against the FAA? Seriously folks, if the FAA makes it mandatory, SWA management cant override it. Yes I carry a food bag, its no fun, but you dont go hungry. As for Chris Elias, why cant you give POS? It is not stated in the contract anywhere that we HAVE to be allowed off the plane to go get food during out duty day. IF you become bitter towards the customers, we will be NO different than any of the other airlines who are going down the tube. And yes they have the SAME mandatory minimum crew requirements.

The thing that I don't understand is, when you read these RBF's , they always mention something in regards to "interpretation". This was not interpreted right by the FAA or SWA did not interpret that right. This excuse that has been used since the start of this year with the big fiasco in regards to maintenance. I am so tired of hearing this as an excuse. This company has been in business 37+ years, the FAA has been around even longer and both are still having problems interpreting things........ UUUGGHHH!

I feel there should have been something in place by the company if they knew this could be the outcome. Even if I do bring a food bag I still need to step off the aircraft just for my own sanity. I hate being afraid that if I help someone out of a wheelchair I may have to pay $2000. If we could just get someone to come on the plane and help clean it would take a big load off us. Then we could make our call to our family or grab a quick bite. I don't think it's too much to ask considering we've saved Southwest millions being their cleaners for the last 34 years.

LIAM put down the glass. Jim jones is not your friend..While we should always do a great job serving our pax because its our job and they only come back if we do a great job. But we should be paid if our work rules get changed by FAA or WN .We as a work group are behind our fellow 555..WE WORK FOR FREE WAY TO MUCH!..Its time to get paid from our report time to our release time. Anything over should be paid time and half. And yes we should always get a perdiem because unlike other 9to5 jobs we are stuck on a plane away from our families and our home 1,2,3 or 4 days at a time..WN would not be anywere without us. Its crazy you can have a duty day of 10 and only get paid for 6 because you work for free.example Checkin until push is free, A/C change some times up to 2hrs free, Delayed waiting around for our flight for free (while ramp&ops sitting in a breakroom surfing the web watching movies getting paid waiting sometimes for the same delayed flight WHILE WE WORK FOR FREE)..its crazy if a ramp or ops agent gets told to work more than his duty day the first 4hrs are time and a half and anything else is doubletime inculding lunch..We as a work group are way to submissive.Im glad before I became inflight on the last contract this work group finally got a pay scale that didn't qualify 60% of FAs for food stamps..NOW ITS TIME TO GET PAID IN FULL..Yes I know gas is way up and things are bad all over..For 15yrs I have gone to every message to the field and its the same old story every year cost cost cost..a few years ago it was the big bad 7 and now its gas..I don't ever want WN to do bad and lose money..But end of the day its JOB and WE should be paid for doing OUR whole job..thanks jaison

Jaison, With all due respect. The min. crew and duty day pay are two different issues. I agree, I do want to get paid full duty day - our rigs aren't working. I don't want SWA to give me more unpaid ground time and/or crap carb filled meals. That will be what happens if f/a's continue to complain about the min. crew FAA enforcing. However, I wish more f/a's were complaining about working so many hours w/o pay. Please don't confuse the two issues. We do need to fight for pay for all hours but do we really need more ground time and or food from SWA.

I agree with the the above posts---ITS TIME TO BE PAID FOR ALL OF OUR TIME!!! If we have a 9 hour day we should be paid for that 9 hours. If the company gives us ground time, A/C changes, I don't care. We are available to our pax and company and should be paid. What drives me crazy is when we have a hold with pax onboard, using the lav ,drinking, we must remain onboard serving them without pay!

all i have to say is that this shouldn't become a CONTRACTUAL issue. This is something that should be taken up by the company and the FAA. I think it would be great for our union to be apart of any discussions with the two organizations, but...again, you make it contractual, and guess who loses in the end? the flight attendant. one way or another, we would give something up to gain either crew meals or 'time to get food' - be it pay in the sense of scheduled ground time, or a reduction in wages to cover the cost of the meals. the reason i voted poor was not because of what has (or hasn't) happened since June. I voted poor because no word was spread until that day/evening to crews that were already out online.
