For me it starts with the meat! Not to cause panic but do you really know what your buying that is pre-ground at your local market?? I'm still perfecting but my current fav is 2/3 chuck and 1/3 rib eye - cube it, season, and let rest in the fridge for 30-60 minutes and then I grind it myself with my trusty bolt to the counter, old fashion, meat grinder. I'll either season with a seasoned salt or I mix soy sauce, granulated garlic, and red pepper flake and marinate - drain before grinding....... No complaints to date - a little more work for sure but well worth it in my opinion.
Miracle Whip infused with ground cayenne pepper . black pepper and garlic powder sprinkleled on burger before grilling.
Yeah! I said Miracle Whip!

On my classic burger ... Lots of lettuce, tomato slice, dill pickle, a few onions and sometimes cheese. Never, never mayo ... Ugh.

6 to 8 ounce fresh ground beef patty cooked rare for me. Never use that pre-ground and prepackaged ground beef from the E. coli Midwest processing plants.
Mayo, iceberg lettuce, sometimes a slice of raw onion, sometimes raw yellow onion, sometimes caramelized yellow onions
Salt and fresh black pepper - that's it

I don't put mustard on, but I usually have ketchup in addition to lettuce. Gotta have me my greens!
