Do the women of The View deliberately provoke controversy about themselves?

ELISABETH IS THE ONLY PERSON ON "THE VIEW" WITH ANY CLASS. THE REST ARE LOUD-MOUTHED BROADS. THE SHOW IS A STEP BELOW JERRY SPRINGER. Who are we all trying to kid --- this is, after all, a Race about RACE. OBAMA PLAYED THE RACE CARD EARLY. It is not a race about who would be the best for the job. Because the best person for the job is HILLARY CLINTON. Do you really think OBAMA would be where he is today if he were not a man of color and would he have the supporters he has today if he was not black (ACTUALLY, HE’S BI-RACAL --- BUT DOESN’T ACKNOWLEDGE HIS WHITE HERITAGE). The bottom line here is people of color are going to want him in office because he is of the same color as they are, and his actual experience or ability to do the job is not even the major concern to them. Ask yourself would Oprah Winfrey be supporting Obama if he were white or Latino, or Asian, it would be very unlikely that Oprah would be as supportive as she is now with him. You should also ask yourself how did he raise so much money so quickly and how much of it came from Oprah directly and indirectly via passage thru others. Also if Obama really wants to be truthful then why would he denounce what his preacher says as being suddenly wrong and inappropriate, after all he has preached the same bigotry and hatred for years and Obama listened to it so how can we the people of the USA believe that Obama does not believe what his preacher said when in reality Obama Has listened to him preach it for years and has even befriended him. Obama is not honest about racial beliefs as shown by the fact that he has attended this preachers sermons for years, herd the same rhetoric, then only denounces him when he got caught during a campaign and yet still remains friends with the pastor. If he truly did not feel what that preacher feels then he would not have been in that preachers church for so many years and even currently nor would he remain friends with him either. America has to wake up and see Obama for who he truly is a smooth talker who only gives you the fluff and none of the substance, he always talks in general vague terms and never truly gets into detail about the topics that need to be discussed. Furthermore, if Obama is a man of the people and not a man of color then why did he recently call a complete stranger in a crowd brother when the stranger asked for Obama to take a picture with him and Obama replied to the man, “hey brother your really bothering me” --- get lost, as a great man name Bill Cosby once said don’t call me your brother were not related. Obama may have an ivy league education but the way he talks around things shows more of his inexperience and bad manners overall. The true and only democratic candidate that should be considered here for president is Hillary Clinton --- BUT THE DNC, BIASED MEDIA AND OBAMA STABBED HER IN THE BACK. VOTE FOR JOHN McCAIN IN 2008 - HILLARY IN 2012.

Barbara Walters knows how to run a show and get ratings.....her method of getting those ratings is to create controversy....what else do you think is going on here? It's all about Nielsen ratings and keeping this dead show alive. The only person on here with brains is Elizabeth...the rest of them are losers!

I think that the ladies of the View should realize that they are public figures and are under constant scrutiny. I think Whoopi, Joy, Sherri, Barbara and Elizabeth are bringing up topics and examples that make them human. I applaud them for stepping up and using their personal lives for examples for other people that can use to help themselves.

I believe the hurtful stupid stuff they say is directly from their heart...I am sad for them...they can not actually be happy in their hearts or very well read or educated on somethings by the uneducated things they often say... Therefore I do not believe they say this as scripted...

What an incredibly ignorant response (left prior to mine). I'm not sure what it has to do with the question. Furthermore, Elisabeth is a whiner. Plain and simple. I do not always (or often) agree with any of the women on the view, but Elisabeth is a sham. A reality "star" hanging on to her prolonged 15 minutes of fame.

They absolutely provoke controversy. How else could they get anyone to know what goes on during that ridiculous show? Most people with better things (or anything) to do would never know what went on during that show if not hearing about it on other news shows. Could the choose a more annoying team then those four?

I can't bring myself to watch that show, the film clips of these women are nauseating. Elizabeth is the only one that seems to have any morals.

caylee's mother's lawyer is despicable. he gives lawyers a bad name. he claims to have the flight, air carrier, seat no. he wrote it down and didn't bring it with him to nancy grace's interview. he is just as bad as drew peterson's attorney. and scott peterson's also. i am praying that little caylee is alive and well. i have a feeling in a day or two the results of the evidence they took out of the trunk of the car is going to be bad. but i am still praying for little caylee.

I believe they do this to get ratings and what better way for them to get more attention on themselves.

Yes I do believe they promote controversy about themselves. At this time I am taking a hiatus from watching the view. Not because of the promotion of controversy, but because I can't stand it when several times per show they all feel that they need to talk at the same time. There are times when they sound like a pen full of cackling hens.

If the term used by Jackson is endearing, as discussed on the view, why is there so much upset. Jackson was endearing. The only racisim going on here is coming from the black people. This is the mind set - remember O.J. Simpson?

I don't watch the view, because it has become a side show, it started with Rosie and has continued. I saw the clip regarding blacks can say nigger, but whites can't. Not in my book, wrong is wrong I don't care what color you are when the comment is made. This world needs to stop the double standard for blacks. I have grown up with this all my life and I am sick and tired of it. God bless America and all that lives in it.

I don't question the moral value of the "actors" who are on the "view," I question the moral value of the person who would waste their time on this earth watching the "view".

O.K. so lets get this straight from Whoopi AND her like-minded side-kick --- it seems whites AND blacks are from two different worlds with two different sets of rules --- So why don't we just kick MLK under the bus and go back to segregation --- that way these two worlds AND their different rules don't have the chance to cause confusion, nor offense, nor even the likely collision which is bound to happen at the end. Obviously, no matter how far we have come, we still cannot rewind and erase the past. Black people have definitely been wronged in the past due racial dislike or hatred and I'm sure will be in the future. As a white man I am just thankful that black people never do white people wrong for racial reasons... Yes I am sarcastic... as well as confused and although until my mid-teens I was not prejudiced at all, I must confess that I am now, and have been ever since I moved to a high school with a majority of black students, and was subjected to an abundance of racially charged acts and sentiments against me as well as other whites. I witnessed that put in a reverse situation of a black not white majority that most blacks believe it or not, group together & on a racist basis, intimidate & lash out both verbally as well as physically at the minority in much the same way that they accuse the whites of. So maybe we are not so different, under our skin after all, although some would like to think so. I do not feel that I am a racist, because people white or black that speak racial hate or even ignorant backward rants such as that on The View disgust me. Although I have more white friends, I do have some black friends that I love & care about --- Not to mention the fact that I love and care about all children red, yellow, black and white. I know that I will never be a racist and I wish I was not even prejudiced. I also know that all racially derogatory remarks are always wrong, no matter the color of who speaks them, especially when it is in a public forum by so called "roll-models". In Whoop’s defense she is a "comedian", and I love good {tame) comedy such as Bill Cosby, and even bad {not so tame) comedy like that of Richard Pryor & Eddie Murphy, and I know comedy does not have to be tame or even intelligent, but I thought it was suppose to be humorous & I only saw stress, hostility, and even tears from Whoopi & her side-kick’s ignorant remarks --- So I guess not only is Whoopi not a good roll-model, she's not even a comedian. Besides what did all of Whoopi & her side kicks rhetoric have to do with Jessie Jackson's comments anyway? Although I do not know what Jackson meant when he used the "N" word, I do not think it is necessary to take a poll of men of all colors to find out what he meant by cutting Obama's nuts off --- OUCH! The above comment is very true. What I don't like is the fact that all the reports keep saying the American people want Obama and thier polls show it. Who have they polled certainly not me. I don't like some else speaking for me or putting words in my mouth. It's a pretty pathetic show. From the use of the "n" word, and somebody please explain to me what I am supposed to instruct my daughter to do when she hears it...they can, but you can't? And now bragging about numerous abortions, but one day they will greet you in Heaven? Why would she think that would be...if she didn't want them down here, why would they want her up there?

Barbara often comments on other shows' ratings increasing over controversies, so one would only believe her show would try to do the same. She is all about ratings.

I personally am getting a bit annoyed with Elisabeth. She is too overly sensitive about many issues. She needs to be a bit more accepting of people's differing beliefs, lifestyles and comments. I think her comments often make the show controversial. But, I also think that Sherri's recent comments have a bit controversial as well. I think they all need to remember that what they say is heard by thousands of people and need to be mindful of their comments and then they would not need to apologize as much.

Do these women think they are making their self look good??? To go public about how many abortions you have had----give me a break?? The show is a bunch of crazy people. Is there anyone out there with any morales or class??? I think Elizabeth is the only one with any class and the show needs some more women with some values. I think the ladies on the view are honest, which is more than I can say for a lot of people. I think it takes a lot of courage to publically talk about things in your life that may be considered taboo. I appreciate their honesty and the realness they bring to television. Truth be told I think lots of everyday people can truly relate because they have some of the same experiences. Generally the people we see on T.V. shows are so perfect and have such perfect lives and that is NOT the case at all. We all have problems and issues. So I say BRAVO! to the ladies on the view for keeping it real and giving viewers another perspective of Hollywood.

Elisabeth is the only one with any class, I am not a fan or watcher of the "View", but I cannot understand after all the happenings on this show, that Elisabeth remains on this panel. Most of the comments I hear from this show are completely unintelligible and thoughtless. With the exception of Elisabeth, I have no respect for any of these women.

The "View" is not a show with differing opinions. It is obvious to me that the women are liberal in their political opinions with the exception of Elizabeth. I think Barbara Walter's reputation as a journalist has been diminished and she has lost my respect by being associated with this show.

I've watched this show off and on since it started. Right now the only one that has any class is Elizabeth. She stands true to herself and DOES NOT let any of the other ladies push her around. I've just read a couple other posts, one said she is a whinner? hahaha! WHY.........because she doesn't get sucked into the other ladies B/S? She is a Christian lady, a mother of two beautifull children and a Republican, in that order. Joy is always trying to force her views onto other people. Think and speak like Joy or your wrong! Shery is doing a pretty good job, but she doesnt get to speak too much. I really do like Whoopie as the moderator. Sometimes she gets a little over bearing, but i think her life experiences has made this a better show overall. At least she is another one who's HONEST.

No, I really don't think so. I think the VIEW is better now that Whoopi is on and the moderator than it has ever been. I do think women can have an educated conversation, disagree and walk away great friends. Why not, men supposedly do it all the time. They all have very unique and distinct opinions and personalities and I like the fact that they are not all out there brown nosing and such. Besides, the controversies out there have been more embarrassing to the women than helpful.

All i know about the show is what i see on Greta or Sean. It appears to be completely classless, i'm not sure about jerry springer. Never seen his show either but from what i've heard it's in the same classless state. It's questionalbe what type of person would or could watch material that is inane & totally useless to an intelligent person's everday life.

I am off from work during the sumer months and have watched The View quite frequently just to see what the ladies have to say. I try very hard to be a person who is fair and balanced on all issues and often do agree with another person's point of view when they make a logical argument. These women upset me, because they, as many others, are so hateful of the Pres. of this country and that Obama will be our savior. I do not agree with everything Pres. Bush has done, but it is difficutl to be President of a Democratic nation when many countries are not? It is a challenge for any US President to deal with terrorists who want only harm to us and in some cases to take over the world. Pretty hard to sit at a peace table when the participants are destroying their own people or producing nuclear bombs and weapons. Wake up people and wake up ladies on The view!!!!!

Contoversy is ALL that has kept the "View" going for 10+ years. What "contributions" has the show made really to anyone in society. I don't watch it. No need to. Thanks to their obvious "provoking of controversy", they make all my favorite Fox News shows. I hope Elisabeth H. gets out of there before Barbara starts standing up at the end of the show reminding folks to "have their pet spayed or neutered"....wait...that would actually contribute to society. Honestly between Obama & Clinton, I didn't think either one had enough experience to be President of the USA. Obama has the majority of his experience as a Chicago politician winning anyway possible to get in the job then do as you want after election! Most the the years experience Hillary talks about was as 1st lady of the State of Arkansas, then 1st lady to the President. These are not jobs she can use & count as experience towards the office she was now seeking. The big thing she was going to get done back when Bill was running was Healthcare for everybody. She fell flat with that issue even having 2 terms & used it again in her run for President! We don't have to like him but of all 3 candidates that ran & of the 2 in the race today, John McCain is the ONLY one with the experience for the job. Obama can build folks up make us all feel great with the "Yes We Can!" it does feel nice, but the feeling is fleeting & reality can bite! Leading this Nation requires experience & a man ready & prepared to make tough, unpopular choices when it is in our best interest. I believe of the 2 men, that would be John McCain, hands down. These are just my honest opinions. About the View, I agree, Elisabeth is the only one on the show that leads a normal life & has conservative views. It bothers me that she is so often beat up on for her opinions. If not for her, I would never watch the show. I'm begining to think a few years ago the rest of the cast mates began playing "Can You Top This?"

I think this show should be canceled. Come on, these ladies just want all the attention they can get and will say things to get that attention. And then .... they will tell us all that they did not mean what was said or that the reporter did not quote them correctly. Whatever!!

I never watch it, maybe 5 minutes. Whoopie is racist, cares only about her color.She dresses like a homeless person. This is not to make fun of homeless people. Lots of them can't help it. To Reality check, although quite wordy in length, has appropriately defined the viewpoints of the "View". These women have become so ego-centric that they have lost all reality of the real world. What is the salary of these women? When you reach a salary of millions of dollars per year, then it is your obligation to public to "give" and feel sorry for those that don't have what you have. Have and are their children attending "Public Schools"? Oh, I so highly dought so. Obama would love to tax the rich (capital gains and inheritence tax). And, he would like to do this to look good to the "poor" when he, himself is absolutley loaded. It is like my friends in the Detroit suburbs who are self proclaimed democrats. Guess what? They send their kids to Cranbrook-Kingswood (private school in Bloomfield Hills) at 30,000 per year for K-8th grade. Oh, would they ever send their kids to a "public" school??? Not the democrats who so want the best for the under-priviledged, but not their kids. Nor would they ever think about living outside their little world of Birmingham. This is no different from the women of the "View". And this is so sad that they are so self-righteous that they feel guilty about their new found wealth. Let's just vote Obama in the White House, with his inexperience and lack of financial background that it will run a ground just like Kwame Kilpatrick in the city of Detroit. Let it fail like the schools in Detroit and every other major city that has the lack of leadership. We are a capitalistic society and we must never lose what our fore-fathers have built. Once we attain the level of socialism......there is no returning. I am very concerned for our Country.

I haven't enjoyed The View for quite some time. This show needs to just give up and call it quits! Every controversy over the last couple of years has tarnished the shows image.

The other day when the N word was being discussed and Sherri told Elisabeth "don't tell me I can't say that word", she really made me sick. For the first time I felt like she was acting like the N word. I hate say that but it's the way I feel.

Sherry Shepherd should be ashamed of herself bragging that she has had so many abortions she can't count them, she should be ashamed of herself but she brags about it. If that is what Barbara Walters wants she picked the two worse in the industry, Whoppi Goldberg is totally classless and actually hates whites by her treatment of Elisabeth. She and Joy are the only ones who keep the program civil. Who in the world is responsible for putting those other two on the program.

I have written the View several times and expressed my opinion that they are all bunch of liberals with such bias views. Elizabeth is the only one I can tolerate so I don't watch the show. It's reallly a bunch of garbage.

I think the women on the view most definitely try to be controversial. It is the premise of the show. If you remember when the show began 10 years ago and the beginning of the show had the voice over of Barbara Walters saying that she always wanted to put together a group of women who could share their views. What is interesting to me are the shows that seem to want to discuss The View on THEIR show. The show is not that interesting!!! But, mabye that is the interlocking economy.....

I agree these women are very poor at being friends and don't know how to even have a decent conversation with each other or discuss todays news. I certainly wouldn't waste my time watching them. Elisabeth is the only one with any class on the show...including Barbara Walters.

Let's face it folks - Sheri not being able to keep count of her numerous abortions is a sign of a TOTAL LACK OF INTELLIGENCE. IGONORANCE. I'm convinced the women on The View create their own controversy. Frequently their biggest fights are on Thursdays and then they don't mention the resulting public outcry until Monday. Maybe not everyone has figured out they tape two shows on Thurs. I guess the producers think people will be sure to watch that taped Friday show if they think it's live and the women will discuss the previous shows' public response. It's all so planned. I feel so bad for Elisabeth that she has found herself in such a position. She is so well educated and light years smarter than the others. Joy and Whoopie are such sad examples of womanhood. I like that Elisabeth is there to remind people that there ARE still moral human beings who respect God and country. I hope she is blessed with the strength to endure this job of hers. I'm sure she will look back someday and say it was the worst job of her life.

Some days I find the show entertaining. Other days it is disgusting. Barbara surely does not have the morals I thought she did. Elizabeth is very intelligent and I believe that she should leave the show and get her own on Fox News. I was really disgusted when Sheri revealed that she had had many abortions! I listen to two women on the view argue that blacks in America have earned the right to use the "N" word but she didn't want to hear the "N" word come out of a white person mouth. I would like to think they are more intelligent than that and as a result they were trying to provoke a conversation or a opposing response. Because if the "N" word is a bad word, no one should use it. Personally, I think this country has become way to politically correct, The "N" word means nothing any more than the "S" word or the "D" word. If the same energy was spent on improving the human race that is spent on complaining about which word is the right word, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I am definded by the level of self respect I have for my self. Every body I meet does not know that so they will preceive based on what they are use to. The question I pose to myself is, why should I allow that to offend me. I feel that my race is the most racist people on the planet. Everything we as "Black People don't like or pose it self as unfavorable, the reason has to be because we are black. It's not because we do not bring anything to the table, it's just that the lastest generation seem to want to ride on the achievements of generations past as thought it is an inheritance left to cover the rest of time. I understand. I would like to point out that I am a 50 year old white woman, When I was a child my best friends in my neighborhood were black girls. They were true to me and I was true to them. I tought my children to know that there is no difference between people based on race. I worry that if we in this day and time are expected to correct the faults of our fathers then we are going to fail. Racism is not in my heart or anyone else that i know.

Only see the highlights (or rather the lowlights) which are usually fights or outrageous, disgusting or stupid comments made on this show which are then replayed on other shows. Elizabeth is used as a punching bag and the only one who has any moral caliber. She should get off of the show as it insults her dignity.

Joy Behar's potty mouth should be censored everytime she opens it, Sherri Shepherd makes no sense to me at all, and Barbara Walters should have retired from television 20 years ago when whatever she did mattered to anyone. The only one there that has any sense is Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Barbara Walters is a great woman and the show has had great success over the years; because of her and the women she has chosen. The only person I question is Sherrie. Somehow she feels like if she tells her bad private life~the audience will feel closer to her...Not a quality person for this show. Fake boobs and should go to work for an off broadway type show. I love Whoopie and her great thoughts. The jokes from Joy are remarkable. Elisabeth is a great woman for the show also. *Interesting how much the View is closely watched.
