If that were the case, I would never see a movie.

His mom and sister were looking to cash in and he escorted them to the door. Why do you think he went to live with his father when he was a kid? It's not a kid's movie anyway...

This movie is mostly about Heath Ledger; not "Batman". Let's see if Chief Gordan can get him out of this!!

Maybe Christian INSULTED his mother and sister rather than ASSAULTED them, and I have trouble believing even THAT!

CHRISTIAN BALE IS A FANTASTIC ACTOR..one never knows what really happened behind those closed doors... As You know by the time the story gets into press it changes several time. One never knows if the mother or sister were angry about and made comments that were upsetting to the actor etc...As in many families there is times of bad behavior on siblings and on the parts of parents who do not know how to let go of control. We should give the actor who has not been in the news for prior history and infact is a quiet private man. Your guest tonight said she was a man about town when in truth he is married with a little girl. I live part time in Los Angeles and have seen Mr Bale in stores shopping etc. He always is polite and just seems quiet and private. Lets leave him alone at this time

There's no story here, sorry. Something has been simmering for a long time and seems to have popped to the surface, maybe it's 'cuz he left his mum and moved to LA with his dad and she hasn't forgiven him yet. Clearly, he lived a mixed up life with his mum a circus dancer and his dad a comedian. I can't believe there was any 'assault' ... probably a shove 'cuz they wouldn't shut up. Besides, it is NOT a kids' movie ... but it is phenomenal!

Why would that stop me when Heath Ledger's untimely death didn't deter me a bit. Just as Ledger created the finest "Joker" of all time, so Christian Bales is the clearly the best "Batman" there has ever been. In addition, there is no evidence Bales has done anything wrong...so why wouldn't you go???

ANY man who puts a hand on any woman is nothing but a child who wants to become a man and does not know HOW! I would not take my grandchild to see this movie for any reason....This is not a movie for children...period. What is wrong with people...you spend your hard earned dollars to help who? Good grief buy food for children who don't have any before sitting down making someone else rich in these types of movies...wake up folks!!!!

I am shocked and appalled by the media’s reaction to this “scandal.” The English arrest and THEN question. Mr. Bale was released without charges and yet the American Media dares to run story after story of “Batman Busted.” The last time I checked there is a war going on, innocent people are being tortured and killed in Darfur, and the November election is approaching quickly. But please let’s speckulate endlessly over an enterainment scandal that does NOT exist. I am so disappointed in Fox News and Greta Van Sustersen.

This incident has no impact on my regard for "The Dark Knight". I saw it yesterday and found it to be a practically flawless composite of creativity. Whatever events occur outside the film, "The Dark Knight" is NOT a movie for children!

Jul 22, 2008 10:38pm ET

Family squables are never fun -- and when it get's into prime time news -- well, the more famous you are the more dirt news people pile on. It will all go away soon and we're back to listening about the women killed by disgusted men.

I would not take children to see DARK KNIGHT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, whether he had a shoving session with his mama and sister or not. They don't sound like the best of folks, reporting this unless they were injured. It is disrespectful to push around one's mother but parents should not provoke their children either....if that was the case. Concerning the movie; we show too much to children now of the dark side. Why did a formally "good" hero turn into a dark character? [not to mention the other dark characters in this film] It is confusing to folks who do not know what this movie is all about. Great acting or not, huge money or not...it glorifies evil. Portraying evil in a heroic way is BAD. Is this the message we want to send our children? As usual SHAME ON HOLLYWOOD. They continue their usual fare. AND when will the public learn to stand up for good not evil. I won't go.

Why does everyone give the star the benefit of the doubt. They are so hyped up on themselves that they think they are untouchable. This was his MOTHER and SISTER after all. use your heads................

Domestic Violence is a very real problem for women and children worldwide. Just because he plays "Batman" means he's incapable of Domestic Violence? It is so typical to "blame the victim", that's what makes it hard to come forward. I know because I was a batter of my wife and son. Fortunately, I was diagnosed as Bipolar and received the right medication.

The Dark Knight is a brilliant movie with fantastic acting, a captivating plot line, and scene sequences to adore. The personal life of any actor should not make a difference as to whether or not a movie is good or successful.

There is no reason to take a child to see this non-comic offering in any form or fashion. It is precarious road we take when we offer young kids a viewing that seemingly has no high ground only evil and confusion. There is nothing fun about this movie in conjuncition with children.

What he did was horrible yes, however the Joker is one of the greatest villains in movie history. It almost makes up for broke back mountain. Still don't take the kids.

Batman was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. We needed to hear that message...desparately needed to hear it. And as for Bale? Well, we'll see what happens. I think it was a good movie and Bale as well as everyone in that movie was awesome. If you haven't seen it, do so, then decide.

With the current level of public awareness, it wouldn't be a problem. If awareness of the arrest increases to the point that I had to explain the legal situation or domestic violence to an innocent child, then it would.

Do you really think that kids don't know what's going on in the world? Do you really? Have you checked MySpace postings lately? They know. They're well aware and Batman is a good movie to show kids, guess what? There is evil in the world but there is HOPE. I thought the message was appropriate.

I would not take my child to this movie before this problem, this just added to my resolve that it is not a movie that children should see. However it is true that if the actions of actors and actresses pushed the choice of movies in our family we would not see too many movies, as so many live like the rules of life don't apply to them. We did and do spend time talking to our children, some now grown, about the reason that we don't look up to people who don't live in a way that is upright and pure. It is too bad that in this day and age there are very, very few stars and athletes that fall into that list. Why is it that we are in such a rush to have our kids grow up and see such dark things anyway? As a mom of four, three grown and one 10 year old I would do just about anything to see that my child has a chance to be a child and enjoy the years of childhood. They will have the rest of their lives to have to deal with the evil in this world and I want to give them the most time I can to enjoy the carefree life of a child. That is hard enough in this day I sure don't need movies to bring my child into that dark place any sooner. Terrorists will do that way too soon. Just let children be children while they can be!!!!!! Let them sleep through the night without the bad dreams and go through the day playing without the fears that will come all too soon! Who knows maybe if we do we will see a change for the better in this world when they do grow up.

Tiger Lily say...******* That's where you're wrong. Do you really think that kids don't know what's going on in the world? Do you really? Have you checked MySpace postings lately? They know. They're well aware and Batman is a good movie to show kids, guess what? There is evil in the world but there is HOPE. I thought the message was appropriate. Tiger,...what age are you referring to?? Is it your intentions that because there is so much 'bad' in the world, that we need to make sure all the youngest of our children's naive natures are converted as soon as possible? My remarks were aimed at those parents who brought 6, 7 , 8 ,9...etc; year olds to the viewing. I'm glad you found a message. Personally, the only message I found was that Chaos is fun and without a sense of right or wrong we can enjoy ourselves so much more. And Batman, seems to have been rendered helpless in dialogue....just a brooding, hurt crusader wanting to get back with his 'new' babe who was not nearly as attractive as the previous one. The movie, while shot technically superb and visually stunning in places is brought down with a less than pristine story. But I'm a LOTR fan...great movie making, great story telling...so I'm a bit spoiled. You continue to monitor Myspace as to whether kids are getting it or not, I will go see the movie and tell my child, no way, there are better messages, better films, and what better way to teach our children how not to follow the proverbial mob.

Hey, I am fascinated to see how many made up some kind of excuse (explanation) for the event without knowing the details. We don't know what happened but the police were willing to listen. Celebrity is not a free pass for abuse is it? When Heath Leger passed away the news discussion centered on how dark, and evil the movie was going to be. Hollywood thinks audiences will think it is their art and audiences are blind to their agenda. Their world is not the ideal culture we all thirst for. No body, adult or child will go from this house to see the batman movie. That discussion was over long before the movie came out. The movie industry has gone too far away from what the movies should be and the people who make them live and behave badly and dare to expect our admiration. They think they are smarter than their public and need to tell them how to live and vote. Take a look at your self, Hollywood. You're not worth the money you demand and you're screwed up.

The scandal over the charges would have no affect on my allowing kids to see this movie, however I did see the movie opening day and I have to say I was surprised to see the very young age of some of the kids being brought into the theatre. This is not a campy, cartoon-like Batman movie like the piece of garbage George Clooney "starred" in. This is a very dark, adult oriented film with a level of violence and shocking scenes that I don't think most little kids under 12 can handle. I'm sure there were a lot of parents around the country dealing with nightmares over the weekend. Having said that, I would like to add that for age appropriate audiences, this was one of the greatest action/dramas I've ever scene. For those people that are dismissing this film for being a "comic book" movie, you're depriving yourself of a really fun experience. Look at the level of the stars they placed in this movie, and you see how serious the producer was of creating a quality product. Heath Ledger,Sir Michael Cain,Chritian Bale, God,(aka Morgan Freeman),Gary Oldman,Aaron Eckhart, and even Maggie Gyllenhaal all supplied such stellar performances, that you'll be so blown away by this movie, you'll forget you're in the "comic book world". Its a great escape for a few hours, go see it!

I don't think it's a kids' movie; I don't have kids. The allegations will definitely not prevent my husband and me from seeing it. Christian Bale has always been one of my favorite actors, and he will continue to be until a court of law proves he did whatever it is his family members are alleging he did. Right now, all I'm hearing are rumors, so let's not condemn him just yet!
