It is bothersome that using the N word is okay if your're black, but not okay it you're white. It's either an acceptable word for anyone to say or it's not. Someone - please explain to me why the "N" word is any different that any other bad ethnic slur word which describes any ethnic group? I am of Italian decent & am offended when Italians are called "WOP's" of "Dago's" I feel all offensive ethnic slur words are bad - no matter which nationally you are. Every ethnic group has at least one bad slur word used to describe them. What else I don't understand is why the "N" word gets so much press time - but none of the other ethnic groups bad slur words get any coverage? "The View" by it's title and supposed content, gives us the 'viewer' the impression at least that opposing views are discussed here and obviously to attain a more rounded opinion as a viewer, RESPECT of each persons' thoughts should be the key priority! Seems to me lately that Whoopie and Sheri are acting like they're the 'know-it-alls' by the berating and condescending attitude toward Elisabeth, (also notice....with Joy or Ms. Walters, they laugh-off their differing opinions), so it is obvious to me, even though Elisabeth states they love each other and so on, that she is being much classier than any of them by choosing to put aside her personal and hurt feelings for the cause of the subjects discussed. I find her to be a loyal, intelligent and surely has more substance to the subjects discussed! Indeed, I think she would be better suited by going to Fox News where she would be more appreciated by the viewers there.

I used to thoroughly enjoy that program, but I just couldn't take Colmes' obnoxious rudeness toward guests so I stopped tuning in. When a conservative is making a valid point regarding John McCain or Conservatives in general, Colmes rudely interrupts and shoots off question after question as the guest tries to maintain his/her thoughts. Its crazy! Why have guests FOX if you are going to allow the hosts to treat them so badly. FOX may be leading the other networks now, but if they don't do something about Colmes they're going to lose viewers.

I engaged with q friend of mine, this evening... a hot debate on this topic. He black, our views were different. I really don't care all that much about the word. I don't use it because it is ugly. If I were in public and heard it being used, I would frown just like I do when I hear the F word. I am tired of blacks playing the race card. I wake up every day and work hard. I've seen "The View" once, and had enough, and never have been back. The only time I become aware of what's going on the View is when the media makes a big deal of what goes on with their cat-fights. All language should be used -- it is much more honest and straight forward. The only reason why we don't is because of some ridiculous guilt over how blacks were treated. Using the word nigger is a historical context is just fine and can be used by everyone. If Sheri "doesn't want to hear it come out of your mouth" is just too bad. I have to admit I have only seen the show in clips or in passing when someone else might have it on, but I have noticed that for the most part it does seem that the panel seems to consist of multiple loud mouthed, repetitious (Joy?), obnoxious, overbearing (oops, that one is gone) women that think that they have some enlightened revelation from the god of liberalism that will set us free from the constraints of moralism, and that there is only one person who exhibits consistant decency and manners. Although I was never a regular viewer of The View, I stopped watching it completely when that disgusting Rosie was on there. The show should be cancelled. Barbara has gone to the dogs, still trying to hang on by writing her book about her affair -- why now when so much time has passed by? All she has done is make more $$ and hurt lives of innocent people who might have wanted that secret to remain a secret. Joy is a joke with her smirky facial expressions and dumb remarks. Elizabeth is really poised and refined. Clearly intellectually superior to all of those women. Sherry has not brains at all and is all about her ghetto life. Whoopi is so far left that shse is embarrassing, Joy is disgusting and low classed, Barbara Walters lost it years ago and should be in "assisted living" somewhere in Florida hitting the earlky bird specials. The show has gone gone to hell, too much emotionalism on the left. If Elizabet disagrees they get nastyl, just like typical Obama supporteres, disagree and you are a "racist". There is no winning with them. Elizabeth needs to get away from all of them, she is far too talented and bright, and would be great on one of the major news stations. If we want an equal America...then all colors should have the right to say whatever words they want. Be careful "If you ignore your rights they will go away!" WHAT ABOUT OUR FIRST AMMENDMENT? And why isn't the discussion about that? The pettiness of this " she said a bad word" makes me think of elementary school children. An old saying really hits home in the case of words, " Sticks and stones may break my bones, but WORDS will never kill me!" First we all get upset about the N word and ban it from our vocab or worse yet make it a hate crime....what next? This is how it starts, taking one right away at a time, because someones "FEELINGS" get hurt.
Hi everyone, All the flak on the View is so disgusting. When Sherrie was a guest on the show she was great. Now, Sherrie is just as disgusting as Whoopi and Joy. The only bright light on the View is Elizabeth. I do not watch the show anymore, but it was replayed on 3 Fox shows tonight. I agree with Jeraldo, they should be kicked off the show! Whoopi and her twin, Sherrie and please take Joy with them!!!!
First,let me applaud the posts from Jessica Edwards and Kendra. Your thoughts are right on line with mine. It does appear that Whoopi has lost her mind on this issue. Sheri,when she first came onto the show, thought the world was flat until her co-hosts set her straight so, honestly, I don't expect alot of intellect from her. I am a white female from the Deep South and I was brought up not to use the N-word and I cannot stand to hear it from anyone. In this day and age, when a black man may become the President of the United States, it is time to let go of all of the division and realize that we are in this thing together. As Ms. Edwards stated in her post, if the slaves that were called the N-word while being brutalized and tortured could hear that black people of today that experience freedoms they never would have thought possible, were "taking back" that ghastly word to "empower" themselves, they would be outraged. They simply would not understand how such a vicious word could give power to anyone. And for Sheri to say she uses it as a "term of endearment"! To Whoopi, Sheri, and anyone else that finds empowerment from that horrible hate-filled word, I suggest that you find a dictionary and look up better words. Anyone that has to use such an ugly word is simply not intelligent enough to advance their vocabulary. As far as Elisabeth goes, I admire the way she stands her ground when so obviously outnumbered. The View should be more balanced in this area. Alot of Elisabeth's supporters have called for her to leave the show, but I feel she should stick to her guns and stay. Don't be bullied away from your job! Of course, I certainly would understand if it just got to be too much and she left for her well-being. She's a small lady, but she's tough as nails! I must add that when Barbara asked Sheri what if she said the N-word and Sheri very harshly hollered out she didn't want to hear it coming from her mouth, that my jaw hung wide. It just seemed like Sheri would have decked her if Barbara had said it. All of it just left a bad taste in my mouth. The same way the N-word should when spoken by anyone. Of course, I believe in free speech, but I also believe in being civil, kind, and non-offensive. When did good manners and doing the right thing go to the wayside? Until we get them back, this country is not going to be the country she once was. Don't get me wrong! I love my country and I'm counting on her, but it is up to each of us to realize we have to stick together and always do the right
