HTC M8...the galaxy S5 really never came up as an option when I decided to get a new phone...I still have my HTC M7 which I think more comfortable to hold than M8...and I'd rather stick to my M7 than buying Samsung Toys if M8 didn't came out

The HTC is buttery smooth, the UI is neat, the sound is amazing. I like the colors of Samsung Super Amoled screen better but the TouchWiz feels a bit laggy and hiccupy compared to the HTC, I also do not like the fake chrome on the Samsung.

Samsung fanboys keep waiting for the "next big thing"...in the meantime, I'll be enjoying my HTC M8.

I haven't made a choice on what phone I will buy yet (m8 or s5). I will not let build materials solely determine my choice. Htc is a beautiful device, but I intend on putting a protective case on my device either way I go. I will choose by hardware and software features. I think Samsung has a much better camera and I like the water and dust resistant aspect. On the other hand I like Htc's boomsound speakers. Aside from build quality, I think that Samsung may have an edge over htc in the fact that I think the superior camera and water/dust resistant outweighs the superior speakers. Just my thoughts.

Any person who chooses a S5 over the HTC M8 is an idiot. Why choose a plastic phone with features that don't work properly in real life situations. The HTC M8 is buttery smooth and can handle everything you throw at it. HTC also bring in innovation that works in reallife. Thecamera hardware and software are great, and the BoomSound speakers are a fantastic feature. Blinkfeed is also excellent even though it didn't blow me away to start with, it is now impossible to live without. The build quality is absolutely the best on the planet, and the design blows the competition away. HTC One M8 is the best phone on the planet bar none. I'd you don't buy one, you'll regret it. If you do buy one, you'll fall in love with it instantly. Guaranteed.
Talking about guarantees, HTC will also replace any smashed screens no questions asked.

I personally think in this day and age with everything we use are phones for that both handsets are to small . Plus the S5 looks to much like a galaxy ace just bigger and the HTC looks nice from the front but that nasty curve on the back NO that's wrong . I am using the note 3 and I am waiting to see what the iPhone 6 5.5inch will be like and the note 4 .I think both phones will blow the rest out of the water .

I originally bought the galaxy s5 and then returned it for the m8 and could not be happier . The Samsung's call quality through the ear piece and speaker was awful, and no matter how many features a phone has if it doesn't first function as a phone properly then it is a none starter for me. I love the m8it is truly stunning.g and I plan on spreading the word about it.

The M8 rocks, hands down. There's no competition for it. Besides for it's sleek amazing design, it also has a really nice user interface and cool features. I love my M8 and recommend it for any smartphone buyer.

I came from a Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4. Would have considered the Galaxy S5 but not with a locked bootloader, I have NO interest in a phone I can't flash to a non-stock ROM!

My HTC One M8 is rooted, the bootloader is changed to TWRP and a custom ROM is running, I consider these essential mods on ANY phone.

I had the S3 and Note2 which were great, but I got tired of Samsung's plastic. And the S5 looks and feels even worst as if I came from the childrens toy section of Wal-Mart. I bought the M8 and it feels great. The phone is surprisingly fluid with no lag or jitter and the interface is clean and organized. The S5 and M8 each have their pros and cons and you can see the comparison videos on YouTube yourself. But for me the M8 edges out the S5.

M8... Not only is it a genuinely beautiful phone but the build quality is far FAR better than anything Samsung has ever put out, not to mention the price diffrance, I currantly have the HTC onex and I've never had any issues with it so I'm sticking with icy for the foreseeable future.

In my own opinion, the amount of features from the S4 to S5, and 1 to M8, are not enough for me to want to go out and drop a paycheck on a new device. I am dissapointed that the big manufacturers are now only making minor tweeks to devices rather than trying to come up with new innovative thing. HTC had a nice surprise with duel cameras, but the S5 just getting a bigger camera, and the ability to turn your giant phone into one thumb phone was ignorant. Probably the lamest feature I've seen in a ling time, but wait, Samsung has a heart beat sensor,... So did the droid DNA years ago. Old tech on a new phone with new marketing. LAME!! I think the biggest disappointment from both carriers was their lack to add an awesome feature to their android phone, Google Now with Open Mic. Google now kicks Seri square in the dick, Seri can't reference something I've already searched, nor does it give intelligent answers to questions. I would still take the HTC over the Samsung, but all in all, the big phone manufacturers should get back to innovations over tweaks and adjustment.

I picked up the S5 yesterday and love it. I haven't tried the M8. I don't find blinkfeed necessary. But it still looks like a beautiful device.
