Did you purchase an Apple Newton device (Poll Closed)

I bought 2 Newtons, the original and the advanced model. I still have them and they work. Great idea and should have been followed up by Apple.

I have two Newton 2100s that run webservers over WiFi and I love breaking them out to show people how advanced they still are. I have payed them less attention since getting an iPhone. I just ebayed my first iPhone for $500 to help me get a new iPhone 3G!

Man, I miss the Newton hay days though!

I bought a couple back in the day, and have continued to purchase (my latest was 2 in 2005). In our house, right now, we have, I think 4 Apple Message Pads (a 120,130,200 and a 2100) as well as a Sharp Expert Pad that a friend gave me.

Here's what's interesting. The poll results at this time show 35% to 65%. 35% having bought one. Yet, all three commenters so far have owned two or more. And most Newton-owners I know (know bunches on NewtonTalk) own multiples. Are we making up for that 65% that never owned one? ;-)

I too am one that has several. I have an OMP (110, the original), 120 and 2100. I also have an eMate, Apples school version of the Newton.
Still use them and like them. When others see one they always ask what it is and ask why it was dumped. Palm devices always had a screen that was too small for my likes, same for most of the other PDA's that have come and gone.

I bought 2 Newtons also; the original and a Message Pad 130. I still have it and it works like the day I bought it. I have yet to find a device that recognizes text as well as it does. I only hope that one day, they incorporate that text capability into the new iphones. Apple still has owns the technology I believe.

I purchased an Apple Newton in early 1994. I could never get it to accurately recognize my handwriting so I ended up taking it back. I did loved the way you could delete a note by drawing an X across the screen. The animation of the page scrunching up into a ball and flying into the waste basket was pretty cool (and oh so Apple). I use a hipster PDA now. Sadly, I now understand why Newton couldn't recognize my handwriting.
