Who is the Best Central Defender in the Premier League?

well from my point of view regarding last season, Rio has been so far the better defender of the premiership eventhough I am an arsenal fan, so let's deal with it.

I don't know the make up of fans on this site- but Ledley King and Martin Laursen? REALLY? I nearly wet myself when I saw this. You have to look at the defenders from the top 4 end of story. Ferdinand and Vidic are outstanding. Defensively Liverpool are nothing without Carragher (although he was not his best last season). Terry and Carvalho are so solid- although Terry moans too much. Gallas at Arsenal has been outstanding.
Before you all start wittering on about me being a Man U fan or whatever I am Tigers thru and thru.
I just look at who has been voted for and people are voting for their own clubs- nothing to do with who is the best defender (IMO Ferdinand)

Nyron Nosworthy had one of the highest successful tackle rates in the prem last season, playing with poor cover from midfield.

You don't have to look at the top four, that's stupid. They have better players around so makes them look better. Put Ferdinand in Deby's back four and see how good he is!

When it comes to old fashioned defending, not forgetting that defending is a skill, Richard dunne has to be up there with the best. He just gets on with his job and gives 100 percent every game. He does not get the limelight other high profile names do, but i reckon that suits him down to the ground. He has been quality for City for years now....

As a Liverpool fan, Ive got to say Nyron Noz (SAFC) is a sex machine and I want to have his babies!!

Well Phil the Tiger you also have to look at who/what the defenders of the top four have in front of them. You see they have a lot less defending to do than those of the clubs lower down the league.
That is why I voted for Noseworthy. Not A Fancy-Dan just a rock solid defender.

It was me old mate 'arry that first spotted the Noz as a young kid in a local park. He showed me the vid and I knew straight away the Noz has the physique I could could buoild a boxing carrer on. I trained for a decade to become what the Noz is naturally, know what I mean, and if it hadn't been for the inspiration of the Noz I would never have got in the ring with Tyson.

You know there are many many many good defenders playing, their name's fail me at the moment,I'm sure they know who they are, however I get very excited when I see Nyron ImNotworthy play, If I was England manager he'd by my Captain Fantastic.

Nosworthy is not just quality on legs, he is a gentleman. During the closed season he donated 3 of his kidneys to unfortunates.

I often get asked if there is a player who could be as good as me,well not only have I found a player as good but I believe he is the best. I often pop over to the SOL and have a drink in the Tavern and sing crazy songs about Shearer having contracted a nasty disease. We then head to watch The Nos who in my opinion is the best in the world ever.
