Wesley Clark is an egomaniac. If my memory serves me right he was fired by Clinton; I don't believe John McCain was fired. McCain served as a prisoner of war, honorably; I don't think Clark did ever was a prisoner of war. I don't understand why any news outlet gives this guy the time of day. General Clark has shown he is an idiot. John McCain has a wide and varied amount of experience regarding military matters and leadership. His years in a prison camp are only small part of that. He has been on the Senate committee for Armed Forces for years. He called the war right (and hardly anyone else did). He graduated from war college. The years in the prison camp highlights his integrity, toughness, and passion for his country. The only good thing about Obama is that he is so incompentent, he will never get anything through congress, if he is elected. He has no significant accomplishments to mention. General Clark is correct. His statement doesn't question McCain's patriotism or service to his country. He simply states that being shot down doesn't make him qualified to be Commander-In-Chief, and it doesn't. I think that McCain has other things that qualify him, but not that. Being an Army veteran I find Clark's remarks repulsive. The Army, military in general, builds character and leadership. Clark should know this as it is how he came to attain the rank he did. Do you think you advance in the military easily? In most cases it is because you show the ability to think and make decisions that are the best for you and the men around and under you. You are trained to react under pressure and make the right decisions. Lives depend on your ability to read the situation and make the correct decision. THAT is leadership. McCain has been there and done that. What has Obama done? What qualifications can he show that gave him that kind of leadership training? Sure he voted against the Iraq war but that is the ONLY thing he is claiming he did that not very many others did. That is not leardership. That does not give him the training to be president. I have not heard one concrete thing from him that would let me in all good faith vote for him. I was once a Democrat but became disappointed in their leadership and ideas. They are required to carry 19 credit hours per semester, while most universities consider 12 credit hours to be full time. In addition to that, they are required to do community service, to take part in extra curricular activies (such as intramural sports), and have to follow a very strict, regimented schedule. About Wesley Clark (this is for the whole room)...didn´t he say during the primary season that both Senators Clinton and McCain would both make good presidents due to their experience? Of course he commanded a peacetime unit......DUH he was in a POW camp from '67 to '73. There was no war after returning to duty. Oh and by the way McCain had already been a POW for 2 years before Clark even shipped out for Vietnam. He was wounded after commanding his first combat unit for about a month and returned to duty before McCain was released. Now on to Clark's name to fame for his insane order to attack the Russian troops moving into the Pristina airport in Kosovo while assigned as the NATO commander. Thank goodness for a level headed British officer General Mike Jackson, who refused to attack the Russians. The end result...he was retired. Wesley Clark is so full of himself he would turn on Obama tomrrow if it suited his ego.

It's hard for me to understand how anyone takes Clark seriously, much less gives him airtime. That being said, my greater concern is that not much airtime is being used examining Obama's credentials, connections, inconsistent "statements" or his big plan for "change." While he talks a lot, I have never heard him articulate specific steps or plans he supposedly has for getting anything accomplished. I think his biggest goal is satisfying his exaggerated ego by trying to get himself elected president. I don't think he has a clue what he would then do in the frightening event that he succeeds!

Professor, by the way, my company has over 200 employees. I do believe that I'll be able to save loads of money by not paying the FICA, FUTA, SUTA, Workmens Comp, Medical Benefits, etc. and be able to keep that "change" in my pocket! General Wesley Clark has really stepped over the line this time. How can he, or anyone else, find fault with Sen.John McCain regarding the way he chose to serve his country?! McCain even volunteered to do the flights over the territory where he was later shot down & tortured before being put in the Hanoi Hilton 5 years. During that time he was offered early release because of who he & his Dad were but he refused unless the men he commanded could also be released.!! John McCain is a great American without a lot of question about where his loyalty and patroitism lies as far as a citizen of the United States. You can not say that about Obama. Gen Clark is exactly correct, getting shot down in a fighter jet does not qualify you to be President. McCain became a fighter pilot because his daddy and his uncle were both admirals. He did not do well in school and was a marginal pilot by all accounts. Anyone else with his low intellect and qualifications, just like Busch 2 - would not have even joined the military if he could not have gotten a cushy job in an aviation unit where, unless in the unlikely event you get shot down, you are going to return to a hot shower, good food, and a safe sleeping environment. I do not think Gen. Clark said anything that was not true. Sen. McCain's service in the War in Vietnam on its own does not automatically qualify him to be president of nothing. I am a veteran who served during that same period of time and we were all in the military and expected whatever came as a result of our serving. People should deal with the direct question. Clark is not questioning McCain's Military service, he is just saying, because of what McCain experienced by being shot down and being a POW does not gives him or anyone else a free ride.

I am a retired US Army Ranger, Master Parachutist with two Bronze Stars, who served in Vietnam and I am appalled concerning the remarks that General Clark made about Senator John Mc Cain. In my books General Clark is a sorry excuse of a Military Officer who only spent one month in Vietnam. This general who was REMOVED from his post as commander in Europe is criticizing McCain? Takes a lot of nerve to do something that low, I have no respect for this person. Has anybody heard if Barack Hussei n Obama has served in The American Armed Services? (Case in Point: They weren't as good at it yet. But, the way they handled the Rev. Wright issue was orchestrated with care once they were between a rock and a hard place. As so many have expressed, I honor Senator McCain's wartime service, including the courage and fortitude and the test of one's mettle in combat. I feel the utmost awe and admiration for his ability to have endured all those years as a prisoner of war, and to have escaped with mind and spirit intact. I agree that there is no adequate substitute for such experience in terms of understanding the operation of the military and rigors of combat, just as serving in the role of officer provides an invaluable grounding in the function and practice of command and military authority. But there are qualitative differences between the roles of military commander and commander-in-chief. Whereas a captain's authority may be over the squadron or flight group under his command, his purview encompassing the battle or campaign being currently waged -- a commander-in-chief must take a broader view, considering the political and diplomatic impact of his actions on the whole world and their long-range historical ramifications. While not intended to in any way sully or besmirch Senator McCain's service and sacrifice, I fear the long-lasting psychological effects of years spent as a prisoner of-war, one of the most horrific and traumatizing of all human experience. I would expect such an ordeal to have a detrimental effect on anyone, even someone who bore the torment with the strength of spirit and character that Senator McCain has demonstrated. While the Senator appears to have survived relatively unscathed, I am concerned about the potential impact that any residual emotional scars might have on his judgment, should he rise to a position with such enormous power and responsibility as President of the United States.
