How are you spending your summer?

I am just taking this summer to relax, because I feel it will do me some good to psych myself up for the following school year. I'll be entering college and I will be starting at the bottom of the food chain once again. And maybe this time being a freshman I will know how to handle it, because I have been here before. Just not at this level. And so I say to other people who are taking this summer easy as well, get plenty of rest, think good thoughts, and compile a list of goals you would like to achieve, and you'll surely succeed in whatever you are trying to accomplish wether its academic goals or your own personal goals.

Yep, no relaxing for me. I'm taking 5 to 6 classes this semester. At the same time I'm also working part time. There is also a possibility for an internship. Also volunteering my time every week. This summer is gonna be busy. Which I dont mind, cause I wont be at home wondering what to do and wont be bored out of my mind!!! Hope that everything goes well for those that, like me, are gonna be busy, busy, busy. Later all, enjoy the summer.

im taking the summer off. i cant wait. i have been working hard all year and i finally get the summer to do whatever i want. but, i will still be volunteering at the local volunteer fire department like i always do to help out the community. and i will still be involved in girls scouts like i always am. the only thing im cutting out of my schedule is school. but once i get a job, it will be like i cut nothing out of my schedule at all. I'm receiving invaluable job experience, such as learning how to use large copier machines, how to file records, how to use a posting machine, as well as office etiquette. I love it, because those with whom I am working are people whom I already know to some degree, and they are very kind and understanding, even helping me "fight" with the folding machine when it clogs! :)

I wish I was just relaxing this summer! Working part time and Interning at the Smithsonian lab is killing me. I have litterally one day off between the two and its usually spent working on someones boat to earn extra cash. Thank god classes start in August. I'll be able to take alittle time off from work.

I'm working a forty hour internship, two part time jobs, and taking a directed study course. I had two days off at the end of the last term and my next two days off are after the first week back this fall. I'm looking forward to going back so I can take a break!

All of the work I had to do to graduate so early has transformed me into a major work aholic. (I was a work aholic before but now I'm a major one). Since I'm starting as a Freshman in college in September this year, hopefully I will get other loans so I could go to college for all four years or else community college is my parents' last option. Ive taken this summer to relax as well being that this was my first year in college but I feel like such as slacker! I already took a year off where as im supposed to be a junior but now but now im a 3rd semester freshmen because I didnt go to summer school! I know that I can make the time up but I just really regret my decision not to go to summer school, because while im sitting here on my couch in my pj's watching t.v, i could have been earning credit hours. As I told you in the above sentences I'm working in an NGO to bring food to my family while I'm studying.
I have attended for 5 years in a medical faculty in Afghanistan. 1 year for basics, 3 years pre med and 2 years clinics. But you know what we should learn in Afghanistan, because there is no facility, no good lecturers and no method and book. I don't know how to tell you. Please dear I want go out of Afghanistan to study medical.
Therefore it's about to finish my medical faculty in Afghanistan. But I'm going start it again in America or somewhere else if I could find the opportunity for getting my MD and PhD.
So, I want start medical university again from the beginning to be a good doctor and lecturer to help my world, my country, my family and finally myself.

I am taking the summer off but also looking for a part-time job. Since the economy is so bad its kind of hard for teens my age to get jobs this summer so most of my time goes to sitting on the couch, watching television, and surfing the net. Iguess this gives me a little extra time to apply for scholarships and prepare for the best years of my life which are ahead of me.

I have two cheap jobs for all seasons, thanks God though! Although they are not so profitable, but I can live my life. I teach English and do the international affairs of a lense producing co in Iran. The only problem is that I am alone. I leave away from home, and I have no friends here!

I feel the need to contribute to my family as well as my community.
I live with my grandparents who have really taken care of me over the years and I feel the need to pay them back. I had to grow up fast so I feel that responsibilites have to be taken care of before there can be any fun. If I don't the fact that I haven't taken care of the issue stays at the back of my mind and I can't really have a good time.

My family has done so much for me. When I finish medical school I them to relax and let me take care of them.

And convincing my parents to finally let me get my license is a job completley on its own. Hi the reason why I'm sitting back and relaxing, is because I tried to get a job but was constantly turned down by many Businesses because they say they weren't hiring any people due to Budget Cuts. But I do say I am enjoying my summer without a job but it could have been a better summer with 1!

I would LOVE to get a summer job, but the economy right now wont allow it. Thus I sit on my computer most of my free summer time, researching careers and watching the E3 coverage.

I'm taking some classes this summer, did an internship, I'm taking drivers ed, looking for scholarships, getting ready to apply to colleges, and reading all the required summer reading books. This has been the craziest summer ever!

Took summer school to get an extra class in and now I'm babysitting everyday. And I'm also freaking out a little about the start of senior year. That seems to be taking up much more of my time than I expected it to.

I think this survey would be a lot more interesting if age, year in school, income (or guardians' income) were taken into consideration. I'm 20, going into my second year of University, and am responsible for 50% of tuition and ed. expenses (and am grateful that my parents are covering the other half). I work at a local bakery/cafe (we use local ingredients, somehow this seems to lessen out dependence on the rest of the country, thus we feel the economic problems a little less). I still resent the fact that American secondary education is so expensive (and tuition for international students is expensive elsewhere).

Regardless, I hope everyone is able to enjoy the summer, and get some great things out of it!

Lucky you, some of you have the chance to do some part-time job or internship, each of you have the possibility to choose but in the country where I came from the youth just kicks their asses or do nothing all the day, me personally I volunteer at the youth center opened a week ago but also beginning from september I’ll be a student for the first year at the computer science, i hope so, so lucky you ....for living in a country wothout limits in choosing your way, bulding your carrer.

This summer has been an amazing summer. I've worked hard at my job at the local amusement park learning great skills to help me with almost any future job. I've learned how to be quick and efficient while still being polite, keep my head in stressful situations, be accurate in money transactions, and about a million other things. I even received an all-star award.

Not only have I worked this summer, but I've also volunteered at a local children's hospital. I am there to help families in any way they need me to make them feel more comfortable. I love interacting with the kids. We play games, talk, make crafts, watch tv, read stories, whatever they want to do. A few weeks ago I even spent part of one morning playing "army dudes" with a boy. Although I love playing with the kids, I always put the health of the child first because it is most important thing.

I love my job and it's nice to earn my own money, but I think EVERYONE needs to volunteer. You learn a lot about yourself as well as others. Plus, there's a great feeling of satisfaction that comes from it. You really learn to appreciate what you have, whether it's your home, your health, your food, or even just a loving family. You not only make yourself a better person, but you also make the world around you better.

I've spent the bulk of my summer looking for a summer job, but I've also been enrolled in school to clear up my senior schedule for next year so I can focus on taking classes that matter to me-rather than the required ones that i hadn't gotten around to yet.

I have spent my entire summer at my local animal shelter, from 8:30 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon. Somedays I would have to wake up at six so my dad can get to his job on time, and then I just have to walk over to the shelter. There, I was allowed to administer all the medicines, including the shots. I was able to do heartworm tests and parvo tests. I learned the differences between the symptoms of parvo and the symptoms of coccidea, which is caused by flies and DOES kill. I learned to tell if a dog had scabies or puppy mange(it's called puppy mange, but all ages of dogs can get it; it is normally caused by some form of stress in the dog's life); I would do all the scrapings and blood work. The sad part, I must admit, was putting the animals down, whether or not it was for their own good. I probably shouldn't be saying this, but...some of the people that call us are absolutely insane. One lady called multiple times saying that we had adopted out her cat, when 1) the cat was on the other side of the county from her house, 2) her cat was declawed, and 3) her cat was a male, not a female! In the end, she admitted to lying, and that she wanted the cat, then accused all of us at the shelter that we don't care about the animals just because the cat had gone up a tree and wouldn't come down, and we didn't go and 'rescue' it! Anyway...I'm not complaining. My summer has been one of the best(the other best is the previous summer at the shelter) I have ever had. I only wish school didn't start back up so early...

This summer I originally planned to look in to college more but I managed to get a time consuming job. Instead of letting the annoyances of customers and the constant walking back and forth sidetrack me, I carry brochures, guides and college magazines (NextStep) to read on my lunch breaks. What's even better is that I'm actually more focused because I know that my time is limited!

I'm going to take the whole summer off to to get ready for the step of my life.
