The President's silence is golden. Unlike the past DPP President whose brain was controlled by his mouth it's imperative for the present Commander-In-Chief not to speak lightly regarding all sensitive issues. Letting the Foreign Ministry handle the hot potato is the right and sensible move instead of letting the President himself be given the additional role of guv spokeman. Nevertheles the official Presidential declaration that the Diao Yu Tai islands belongs to Ilan County, Taiwan, ROC already speaks a lot of words that the Japanese guv must again learn to digest after being pampered by 8- long years of 'Luv Taiwan-DPP' guv. surrender of the islands.

Unless and until President Ma is like Mike Tyson (World Heavyweight Champion) who jumps up and hit any person who say wrong things to him and then regret to say he was impulsive at the time. President Ma silently ordered his Premier and Foreign Minister to take up the case in the order of civility and according to International practice. This is international relation and cannot follow like hooligans taking the fight to the streets and get into a brawl. Should the Premier get no headway President Ma will act as the last card. President Ma was wise enough not to use the ultimate authority because should he get stuck he will have no one to fall back on. Oh! Maybe President Ma can fall back on DPP for advice since they urged and pressured him to fight Japan? I wonder whether the result can be different as DPP did not provide proper method but just say " FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT" and followed with SCOLD, SCOLD, SCOLD.

If President Ma spoke out against the Tiaoyutai incident, the DPP would criticize him for being too 'confrontational'. The DPP's criticisms are totally self-serving, and the government is better off ignoring the DPP until they act more responsibly.
