Heya guys! It was hard to pick between the "crazy busy life," the "scripture is really hard for me to memorize," and "I know I should but I procrastinate" ones because I think they all play into eachother. Because it's hard for me to memorize, I procrastinate by making the excuse that my life is crazy busy, LOL!!!
*But I need to add that we ARE memorizing it and aren't letting any of the aforementioned excuses get in the way this time :-)
maybe we could add an 'inability to decide why it's so hard to memorize' button :) I actually wonder if the first answer is probably the most likely reason for a lot of people...but hardest to click on because you are thinking....am i really too busy to be in God's word? i love your answer!
I'm clicking on "crazy busy" because if I weren't so busy I might remember. I think accountability/reminders would help!
I find it's hard to follow through -- my friend calls it choosing the best from the good. Staying settled on one piece of scripture long enough to really let it work it's way fully into my life, my heart, my mind, my soul. That's why I was so excited about doing Romans 8 -- I already knew several of the verses...and yet, here I am weeks later having made about 2 words progress from what I already knew... : ( BACK TO IT! I appreciate all your great tools to keep me motivated -- I'm going to get this done yet!!
Maybe it's a cop-out because I really am a procrastinator and maybe choose not to make the time to exert the effort. However, I really feel that it is more important to LIVE according to the principles of scripture than it is to spew verses with every chapter and verse and have no substance in your life to back up your supposed reliance on it. Whew...that was a mouthful. So, I'm conflicted between being too lazy and feeling like LIVING scripture is most important. I think Jesus made it very simple...Love God, Love Others, Do the Work. This is a wonderful ministry of discipleship and I am going to enjoy walking with you in the journey. I knew Jason when he was a little boy at First Baptist Alexandria, VA...my friends and I adopted him into our singles ministry and took him everywhere with us...he was like a little mascot. We all loved him. I still have pictures that he drew for me on bulletins when we were supposed to be listening to his dad's sermons. He was, and must still be, awesome. Thank you for loving them.
Romans8movement.com is an invitation to people everywhere to join us in memorizing Roman...
