In his position as the new President he could have mentioned the value of human rights in Taiwan and China. This would have sent a strong message to the people of China and the leaders in Beijing.

Failure to mention the Tibetan crackdown is it a sign that President Ma commitment to democracy is weakening? You mean to say that President Ma was a VERY,VERY STRONG fighter for democracy before his ascend to President!!!. If that is true than President Ma is a very sensible President as he still wear his Democracy cap tight because while warming up love and friendship with China he still dare to mention the Tian An Men Massacre and ask China to adopt democracy and to respect the rights of individuals. Let's put it this way if both of us are friends and my son rebel against me and you go and teach him to fight me and to cut off ties with me. Is it right?. On the other hand if I were to torture my son, left him to starve, mistreated him and you speak on his behalf/against me and made strong protest to me, you did the right thing to a friend and humankind. Tibet is such a case. The Tibetan are fighting to break away from China and be an Independent nation. They created riots in order to achieve their end. You ask President Ma to speak in support of Tibetan rebellion!!!. Taiwan is not a WHITE PEOPLE NATION more to the point Taiwan is no USA who needle any nation for their selfish interest. Taiwan is a nation made up of people with YELLOW skin - different
