I hate every part of flying except for ending up somewhere cool.
I hate trying to buy tickets.
I hate that the price that they show has nothing to do with what you pay with all the extra fees.
I hate the typically expensive ride to the airport.
I hate the expensive food at the airport.
I hate the 3 or more lineups you end up in at the air port.
I hate that with many line ups you don't know if you are even in the right long line up.
I hate the better service they provide a few elite customers that could be provided to everyone.
I hate wondering if my carry-on will end up being checked due to a new size requirement.
I hate that the airport puts those little bars up on all the seats to prevent you from lying down when your airplane is delayed 6 hours into the night.
I hate that security is treating me like an inmate in supermax.
I hate all the stupid rules that still allowed some moron (literally) to get a bomb on inside his shoe. Just a good thing he was too stupid to work matches.
I hate the lies they tell you like the weather is delaying flights.
I hate that they won't tell you the length of delays so that you can adjust your plans instead of waiting in an airport for an unknown length of time.
I hate that when you miss a connection because of their delay that when you ask for them to sort it out they act like it was all your fault.
I hate the crappy service on the plane.
I hate the crappy seats.
I hate waiting for the checked baggage (It used to be a carry-on)
I hate customs treating everyone like shit.
I hate paying for a $50 cab when there was a bus for $10.
I hate airport rental companies.
I hate most hotel near airports.
I love the island paradise that I never want to leave.

Now compare this to taking the subway (not really that different from a plane)
You walk in. You pay your money. You hop on. You get off where you need to. Done.
If the baddies hate Americans what is the difference between attacking a subway at rush hour and an airplane? I would think that crazy security would be equally justified. Why not make people get all boarding passed up for subways? Why not make them line up in 3 or more separate line-ups? Why not allow old people and kids to board first. Why not have first class in subways? Why not allow the first class to have their own lounge and to board first? Why not? BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE STUPID!!!

I flew through LaGuardia and Atlanta Memorial Day weekend with almost no security line and no delays. Airtran, you rock.

We are going on a trip back to Ohio and Alabama. I figured it out that it would entail about 12 hours, including check-in and waiting.

I figured out it would take over 44 hours just driving and not stopping for gas of food.

I know I'll fly!

Avoid it? No, I just don't fly anymore at all. When the security theater was increased, I just stopped flying. I used to fly many times a year, now e-mail and video conferencing work just fine thank you. I agree with the comments of the EmperorofCanada, all of them with a big excalmation mark.
