Huh? It looks like they bought some poor quality gold leaf sheets from the local hobby store and let the 3-year old give it a go. You are absolutely right. Sometimes you wonder, "What are you thinking?"
This bag looks like the aftermath of an angry boyfriend and a can of spray paint. I guess the guy was mad at her for loving her bag more than him and decided to do some 'poetic' justic before slinking cowardly away.
I laugh at all the Bag Snob comments and leave no comments but this bag seems to stir up some inner rage. It's like someone intentionally went out of his/her way to defile a bag and then have the nerve to try to market it as a designer bag.
I hate graffitti and to see it scribbled meaninglessly on a bag really gets me going.
