Alton use to scare me but since I watched him with Justin on star network not only do I love Justin and pulled for him I love Alton and see the goodness in his heart.

I thought they all did a decent job. I voted for Alton, I thought he did the best job. but I think its because he had the best contestants. Giada and Bobby both did well for what they had to work with.

Great format for the show this year. Alton and Bobby were great mentors, although Alton on one episode was rather abnoxious with his comments. Now Giada on the other hand - she needs to go. I have always watched her shows, but not sure if I will continue to do so. She is a poor sport, can be nasty and inappropriate in her dress and behaviors with her team at times. I've never seen Giada compete as many of the other food network chefs have, mayby she should give it a try. She was also no better as a judge on Chopped - she liked nothing, was overly critical, not enjoyable watching her. Food Network, she is hurting your brand!!!

FN should have another set of mentors next time.... out with Giada, not looking very professional with her short short skirts and low cleavage.... but leave Alton in. How about Anne Burrell, does a great job at Worst Cooks of America, or Alex Guarnaschelli, no fakeness at all. If Robert Irvine can turn around failing restaurants he could be a great mentor too.

Giada is not a very good sport and it seems she could use some pointers from Bobby. He's a wonderful chef and a true gentleman. I liked Alton also, a little kookie, but that makes him original. All in all, enjoyed the show. Loved the judges, Susie and Bob are great!

Wow, people are harsh. I'm typically a Giada fan and have no issues with her smile, her proper pronunciation of Italian words (although noone at FN even pronounces her name right), or her mentoring. Different strokes for different folks. Having said that, she irritated me at times, but that's what makes good tv! It sounds to me like some people are a little jealous of how beautiful she is and can't cut anyone any slack at all.

Bobby was great. I had no issues at all with him. He seemed to care about his team and I never thought he was rude or condescending.

Alton is such a cool guy, it's hard to find any fault with him. And how lucky was he to find "little Alton" (aka Justin)? Justin will do a great job.I found myself thinking that I'd be happy for any of the 3 that were left. Although I voted for Justin, I would have been happy if it had been Michelle (my second choice) or Yvan. And he looked so cute on the finale with his hair grown out a bit.

All in all I think they all did a great job. I had favorite contestants and those that I didn't like so much. But I'm not going to trash anyone here because I know for a fact that I couldn't do as good a job as even the worst contestant on this show!! Chill people!

Sorry, I thought Alton was a total jerk. He used to be my favorite but since his slim down he just seems to be so conceded and unlikeable. Giada was sweet and supportive, and Bobby was his usual laid back self.

I think Alton Brown was the best mentor because not only is he passionate about his food, but he is truly passionate and caring about the people on his team! He supported his team 100% and inspired them, pushed them to their limits and showed a lot of compassion that is something you rarely see in a famous celebrity. Most of them tend to care more about their image and fame instead of wanting someone else to make it in the lime light. You go Alton!!!! Kudoo's to you Alton. I'm a chef myself and I am passionate about cooking and I can see that passion in Alton not just on this show but also in his own cooking show.

We have been watching the Food Network for many years. I am a fan of all three mentors. But our favorite is Alton by far! What an opportunity for the contestants to have one on one mentoring from such a teacher. Many of us can only get this from watching Good Eats. We would love to talk with him and be in his presence.
We love learning from Good Eats. He teaches in a way that any cook at home can understands the 'why'. When we buy our kitchen appliances, we find out what Alton says about them. We have a lot of the kitchen gadgets he used in his show. He is awesome. In the final 4 episode, Alton cried when he knew only one can go through. Then he really lost it when he found out that his final 2 made it to the finale. Seeing my mentor cry out of joy, pride and possibly saying good bye to one of your own is overwhelming. I cried along with him. Now, he can be a proud papa. CONGRATS to Justin. Well done. I will watch your show when it airs this Fall.

I have been perplexed for some time why Giada is put on a pedestal at the Food Network. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, and went and read her bio....are you kidding??? No where did I read that this" judge" status was EARNED compared to other chef's long hard journeys in the culinary world. I have never seen her compete and sweat against anyone - In the recap last night, she passed a remark to one of the chefs about being a phoney....you can usually pick up in others, what you need reflected back at yourself. Shame on you Food Network for selling out for a pretty face and cleavage.

Alton Brown has always been straight forward and to the point, with a touch of humor. Learned a lot from him on "Good Eats". Congratulations on Justin's win! Can't wait to watch him on Food Network.

Don't listen to Rachel (comment below). She is an idiot.

You guys need to be careful to not show too much of Alton being not such a nice person. Both he and Giada have gone down in our estimation through these shows. They are portrayed as not terribly nice and the result is you don't want to watch them in their own shows any more. Alton's arrogance is ridiculous. He comes across as unapproachable. Honestly, he's not all that. Bury that ego!

Bobby he is awesome. Alton done well to. However giada is so fake do not like her. Her smile is forced and she dosent hide it very well.

  • Karen - 12 years ago

Alton hands down! He's the only one who taught his team anything!

  • Heather - 12 years ago

I loved the approach the Network took this season by bringing mentors in, and all three of them had great qualities and helped create what could be very successful television personalities. However, I believe Giada did the best job at this task! Her positive reinforcement, motherly wisdom, bright smile, and constructive criticism were all wonderful tools to bring out the best in her star hopefuls ;-) When times got tough, she was always there with her usual helping hand, while always offering real-life advice to connect with us, the viewers. Great job, Giada! I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow night!!! Thanks for a great season!

All did well, but Alton's honest, direct approach brought out the best of his team...case in point, he has 2 contestants in the final lap!!!!! Great show and go Justin....

  • sarah - 12 years ago

I thought Alton was the best mentor; he kept right on point with his chefs. That being said,
you could not pay me to watch the boy with the lipstick. No way. I liked the others very much, especially Michelle.

  • Lorna - 12 years ago

Giada was a great mentor. I love her style and how well she bought out the best in each of her contestants. I loved that those on her team all respected and were friendly towards each other. Way to go Giada!

  • Anissa - 12 years ago

To be honest I loved all the mentors. However, I must give credit to Alton for his caring mentoring. He kept his chill when the competition threw curve balls at him and his team. I'm a fan of all food network chefs but for this competition I must give it to Alton.

I love all of the judges, but Alton has got that something special. Chemistry plus food equals genius. I love an intelligent Nerd. Also, go Justin! I would watch his show any day!
