for 3 years searching and applying for scholarship I have not won any. Not even a $100 scholarship and it really sucks b/c I usually I have to pay things out of my own pocket or using my emergency money.

Wishes the two above people would stop the whining and complaining because I'm curious to know why you two people are still using Fastweb if you are unhappy with it...It doesn't make since.

some people are just lame and like to complain about their problems. sometimes you're just not qualifie. i lost my school scholarship through gross underperformance but it's all good... i finally have time to apply for some scholarships this summer, though! yay! go fastweb!! :)

I won a scholarship, the first one I ever applied too! LoL, I did not get a response for 6months though, it takes time. It was a 2500dollar scholarship that I won. This is how I did it, I researched for a very long time, which scholarship I would dedicate myself to apply for. I put my heart into writing those essays and I worked for a very long time trying to choose which one I was going to dedicate myself towards. This is the truth, and I would not suggest on applying for scholarships if you are not going to try, you have to be committed with your heart and soul. I wrote my scholarship essays and turned in all the required documents when I was struggling working 40 hours a week, and going to school full-time. I know hard life can be, but you have to keep walking forwards no matter what.

thank you very much
and goodbye

It doesn't really matter if the first two people were whining because as the poll shows the gross majority of the people using this site doesn't receive a scholarship. Imagine the number of people who use this site but only 3% of people actually receive any money. I consider that a lot of wasted effort and money...

I have also been using this site since 2005, and would constantly apply for scholarships at least once a week, and I would only apply to the ones I qualified for. Never received one, I have been managing with student loans that I will be drowning in when I graduate. Probably for the same reasons as the two comments above, the only reason I kept applying and using fastwed for years, is because I could really use a scholarship and thought that everytime I applied there was a chance that I would finally get one. But to my dissapointment I never wone anything.

I've been applying for scholarships for about a year now also, and it has nothing to do with fastweb, i think they are all pretty much the same when it comes down to it. Its a one and a million shot and you just got to hope and pray that one will fall into your hands. It sucks but suck is life.

i just want to say, last semster i had 3.5 gpa with 5 classes, and graduated associates with 3.2 going on to a bachelor degree, and absolutely nothing! what the hell is the point of this website if they are not helping the ones that need it?!?!?? i speak on behalf of the people that have to struggle every day trying to fork over the tuition fees and continue holding a full-time job. it is very difficult to do because every semester you may have to change your schedule around and your boss at yoru job doesn't really want to put up with it. so to fast web, i just want to say thank you for false hopes...

Well I have been a member of fastweb for a very long time now and I have to admit that I am yet to recieve a scholarship. I graduated from high school with very high honors. I am currently attending a university, trying to start a new business, working a 40 week and training for the US ARMY. I realized that I had to remain confident and start networking. Life is tough but we gotta keep moving and remain optimistic. Complaining gets us nowhere but hope, faith and love will take us anywhere!

Thanks!

I admit, I could've used FastWeb more properly. But I haven't won anything yet either. But I must agree with Eric Iglesias. I'm sure that if I put my heart and soul into it, then I'll get something.

And if you didn't have a scholarship yet, you'd whine too! Don't be so hard on them.

I won a scholarship of a large amount. I obtained the information from fastweb. I have had fastweb for a very long time and applied for many scholarships. Finally, I was notified that I had won along with 100 other students. Fastweb doesn't determine who wins they just provide information!

I thinks it's funny that. Their has only been 3% of people who recieved scholarships off this website. And most of the people have to act like it comes easy to them. god just shut up. Look at all the people who have the hard time i'm sorry we're not all smart and stuck up like you.

All of you that are complaining about not recieving scholarships, you must keep in mind the number of applicants each scholarship has and the limited amount of money each one has to give. I will admit that scholarships are very hard to come by. I have worked very hard the past three years applying for them, but I have only recieved a one small award. Its not fastweb's fault that you have not recieved any scholarships, you must remember that there are some people out there have accomplished amazing things, but we are just not fortunate enough to be one of them. Fastweb simply compiles scholarships onto one website for us to look at instead of us having to search hundreds of sites to find them. So I think that we should all be greatful for fastweb for saving us hours of extra work, whether we recieve a scholarship or not. Thanks Fastweb!

look i agree totally w/ the first two people i have been on this website writing essays and filling out essays and have yet too get one but i keep on trying,No im not crying about my situation but school is important to me and i know that money is a big part of me graduating. So i dont really care if u all dont like the fact im complaining if u arent gone pay for my schooling shut up and move on.

2008-05-27 12:06:13 ET

Fastweb is okay...ive never won anything...yet...hopefully! My theory is that there are SOOOOOOOO may people on fastweb looking for a scholarship that it creates SOOOOOOO much competition... like seriously...there could be a hundred or more applicants to ONE scholarship contest so what are the odds that little old me and you would win....? Keep your head up my college bound peoples, and if the going gets tuff, well in my case, i picked up a summer job so all of that money is saved for the "just-in-case" senario.... GOOD LUCK!

i wonder where all of this money is going if so many people aren't winning any scholarships.
i was thankful to have won two small scholarships which were both through my college. compared to fastweb, i guess the applicant pool was much smaller.
seems like there are so many scholarships out there, but with tons of applicants. but if its anything like my high school, most of the people getting scholarships got ALL (or at least most) of them. mostly overachiever kids who had parents who helped them with everything. how fair is that?
most of the scholarships i applied to in high school, the overachievers got them over me, even the ones that catered to people with GPAs lower than 3.8 and low income. I wonder if the scholarship committees ever realized they were giving all the money to the same people. these folks weren't the only ones going to college!
overall, fastweb is very useful. even though i have not won anything, they open my eyes to many more opportunities....for free. we just have to keep our fingers crossed and keep applying. life seems to have more rejections than acceptance anyway. unless of course, you are those overachievers at my high school.

I haven't gotten a scholarship in the two years that I have been in school. It really is a bummer. I apply for at least 3 a week and use a variety of websites..maybe the rest of you would have better luck if you would use more than one. Hopefully things will get better for everyone and we'll all start making money. I guess its worth being broke all the time if we're going to be making a butt ton of money in the end...right? O well Fuck it fight it its all the same...
Peace n' love

Well i just became a member about a few weeks ago, so i have not experienced what some of you have. I was just shocked to see how many people received scholarships through fastweb. i am happy that i took the time to read these comments because now i won't be mad if i don't receive a scholarship.

It's disappointing not getting any scholarships right away I know, but think of the experience you are getting by writing essays or whatever the scholarship is! Also, ya'll failed to mention that fastweb has college profiles for us who aren't sure what college we are going to attend, they have resources, an awesome help for anyone. Please don't bash fastweb: it's not the websites' fault if you haven't won a scholarship. No, I have not won a scholarship from this website so I am not being stuckup or smart alecky! Keep trying, perseverence is better than just giving up.

Whether you call it whining or laying out facts, I have been asking people I know where they received their scholarships. Like me, they received theirs primarily from their school or college. One friend got several small scholarships that really added up. Not one of us, NOT ONE received a dime from Fastweb, and we all applied for at least two or more. One friend said his mom called every company they did business with and asked everyone who got scholarships the year before where they got them. She made a list and he applied for all those.

I have applied to several scholarships via Fastweb and haven't won anything from them. However, based on my entrance essay, I got a full ride to the University of Washington. So if you're in high school, don't get discouraged. Colleges award plenty of scholarships for their undergraduates that usually aren't terribly hard to get if you're willing to look for them. Fastweb isn't necessarily the easiest way to go.

I have received two scholarships from this site, and one was for the amount of $10,000. Like Eric said in a previous post, you really have to put hard work into writing those essays. A lot of scholarships are passed up by people using this site because they don't want to write the essays required. This means that the scholarships requiring essay or samples of artwork and the like have less applicants and therefore are easier to get. Good luck guys!

I am only 16 and applying for scholarships! I have did about 10 now, just do not give up hope anybody! I have seen so many people have that attitude, and it does not help. Things will be different once we get a country that can help out college students more. Like the 90's. O I wish I was in college then.

After reading the comments above, I am not at all surprised that many of you have not gotten any scholarships. Your grammar and spelling is horrible!! Examples: "I have did . . ." "It doesn't make since (sic). . ." ". . . majority of people doesn't. . ." "Their has only been 3% of people . ..".

If the grammar and spelling in your essays is anything like that in your comments, the judges probably tossed your papers after one or two sentences.

i never won a scholarship from fastweb.and i been applying for a lot of scholarships since i got out of high school, but that doesn't mean that i am going to stop applying for scholarships. u just need to think positive and hopefully we can win one with all our effort. i won some scholarships from my college and i'm greatful for that, but it doesn't come close to paying, what i pay a month for school. my dad can bearly afford it. and now my sister is also in college so were trying to find a job to help him. so maybe one day i hope i can win a scholarship or get a job. i'll be good with either one

I live in Georgia, and here they have something called the HOPE scholarship. As long as you've lived in Georgia for a year and keep you GPA to or above a 3.0, you qualify. It's not a lot but it helps. Plus, I'm always on fastweb looking for any extra money I can find. I haven't won one yet, but I still have my hopes up.

I haven't recieved anything yet but I am still confindent in this website, because my cousin Kathryn has recieved multiple scholarships from here!!! Regardless on if you have not gotten one now you will soon... It just takes time, shoot if it was easy getting scholarships then EVERYONE would get one and everyone would be attending college. But it is hard to get chosen for one and thats why they are called scholarships, because you have to prove and make an effort to get one... So for those who are like me that has not yet recieved one, keep your head up you will get one just be paitent...

Alright, I have to agree at some point with Alice, but by any means this is not an essay or an exact representation of how anybody would write on an essay....so my punctuation/grammar and/or spelling don't have to be up to par.

Next, the current results of the poll does surprise me a little....but maybe its because you should take into account (personal opinion) that the majority of people coming back to the site are people actively looking for scholarships or more; therefore, the people that are already satified with their status will not frequent or come back anytime soon....so that leaves "the people that are new and are looking" and "the people that have not received anything" (mostly shcolarships because that's the main purpose of the site).

I haven't received any shcolarship through fastweb's great selection. The people at Fastweb do a good job bringing all the information together for us, so instead of bashing I'm actually congratulating them of a great job thus far. I have applied for several scholarships, but yet nothing so far. Sure you get a little anxios sometimes, but the best way to thing about this is:

Scholarships (at least the higher end ones) are like playing the lottery. We can all turn in well-written essays/answer responses/submit high gpa's/submit financial need as a matter of fact be overqualified, but its not about "luck" rather than coincidense with the right person(s) who qualifies the winners(this is assuming all things equal).

Sometimes like Kayleen mentioned you can up your chances for being one of selected for the scholarship by choosing to apply for sholarships that don't appeal to the masses....since there are less people applying your odds winning generally increase.

Well, that's about it. If you have anything to argue against me because of this post that's your problem. All I'm concerned is for voicing my opinion via this comment. Thanks for your time. Laterz.

I have been using this website for several years and I have never won a scholarship either. The only thing that I received was a letter that said I was one of the finalist for a scholarship and I never heard anything else. I think that it really sucks. It makes me think twice about this website.

I bet all three percent have commented on this wall...lol all jokes asside. I must give FastWeb some credit...nah! Ill take away some of the blame. Like mentioned before, there a lot more people applying on FastWeb therefore your chances of winning are smaller than winning a local scholarship. I would suggest someone in urgent need to look elsewhere. However, money is money and you should never not try or give up an oppurtunity to recieve college funds. So give this site a try. Dont let rejection discourage you and remember that there are other sources for scholarships and grants, just research.(not a registered idea, my gift to you...unless you charge people, then ill take 15%) lol

Peace to everyone and good luck with School and paying for the M.F.'er

To the FastWeb Creators:
Im not sure of your hand in this. Im not sure if this site is the YouTube of scholarships, where random people and groups post random chances for money, but I do believe not only should you offer more scholarships through your site but maybe you should offer tools that allow students to narrow there search down to ones offered by there shool, local congresman, church, business, etc. Improve the odds for your dedicated users.

I have received one scholarship that I found out about on this website. I have filled out probably 25 scholarships and those are just scholarships through my high school. I hate the people who complain and they have filled out one or two or they say that they could never pay for school yet they make up excuses as to why they don't have time for scholarships. I was in high school, playing basketball, holding a part-time job, running 2 school clubs, and still managed to fill out scholarships. If you want it, you have to make time to do it. That is what I think at least!!

I'm just shocked at how many people haven't received any scholarship at all. I'm also shocked by how few people have received scholarships from their schools/foundation. But I'm disappointed by the low number of people who have received scholarships through Fastweb. It's really pitiful and makes Fastweb appear useless.

I haven't gotten anything out of FastWeb, but I'm one of those "She's got hiiiiigh hopes" people. From the university I'll be attending in the fall, I'm getting a $60,000 scholarship. If you're top of your class, and your ACT/SAT scores are ok, you're GUARANTEED to get SOMETHING from SOMEWHERE. Unless you apply to the University of Texas at El Paso. They aren't giving me a penny!! "Based on your FAFSA blah blah blah...no money for you! blah blah blah...." It doesn't make me feel so special because I never wrote an essay for THAT scholarship, but hey....I worked my butt off in high school for that money!

Extra-curricular activities are definitely the best way of getting scholarships.... Join EVERYTHING you can!!!!!! It makes you seem "well-rounded" even though your brain is about to explode everytime you check your agenda....
I stayed #1 in my class throughout high school, but the only things I was in were band, HOSA, BPA, and Key Club. I add on "church activities" to make applications sound better.... But the girl that was #2 was in EVERYTHING!!! HOSA, track, FFA, FBLA, Big Brothers Big Sisters, UIL....... BPA was the only academic thing she wasn't part of. Anyway, she got the Bill Gates scholarship (which I never applied for....lol).

I am so disgustingly average, it is nealry impossible to win scholarships. I just sat through a nearly 3 hour senior recognition ceremony full of scholarships I had applied for and watched the same 20 people receive them all...that was a reality check/ confidence killer.

But, my point is: People say scholarships are everywhere; why does this poll read the way it does?

Just because you use fastweb it doesn't mean that you're guaranteed a scholarship. It's just a resource to help you look for scholarships but many people use fastweb so the chance of a person winning a scholarship through is slim. But it's still a good resource to find scholarships. You can still go on the websites that they provide on the website to look for more scholjavascript:submitComment();

I have been a member of fastweb for ages and am like most others still waiting to recieve a scholarship that i have found and applied to on this website but i have pretty much given up hope on national scholarships and have started appling to more regional scholarships... I have a beef with scholarships all together what ever happened to financial need now a days its more about GPA and class rank and all that... I speak for those who have been informed by their parent(s) that if they want to go to school they have to foot the whole bill housing books everything on top of that they must pay for their own insurence cell bill and whatever else... so why cant scholarships go more for financial need or have questions like is ur GPA a refelection of students abilities. because i know for some students situations come up and its hard to pay attetion to academics and keep up i'm not talking about plain lazy people i'm talking about students who have a parent sick and dying or health problems themselves or a single mom or dad and siblings. So i guess just food for thought what happened to fincial need?

This result is not encouraging at all. Haven't been applying for that long, but I am beginning to wonder if I have been wasting my time applying. And another thing, please post jobs and internships related to my major and located in Florida.
In other to boost the quality of your website, the poll should be the opposite of what it is right now. I hope you start working on it ASAP.

I have applied for so many scholarships that I simply lost count. My class of 233 was awarded over 2.1 million in scholarships and do you know how much I got? Not one cent. I made superior honor roll, held 2 steady jobs, was in youth group, and had community service. I won nothing. And because of this, I will no longer be able to attend the college of my choice.

I've never actually recieved a scholarship that I applied for through fastweb, but I have recieved 2 scholarships that were posted on fastweb. What people fail to realize is that while you may be eligible for the scholarships availible, so are atleast a thousand others that also apply. Most of the scholarships posted here can also be found on other sites and the more they are worth, the more people apply for them. Before you apply for another scholarship evaluate yourself, not fastweb. Fastweb is simply a reference used to assist you finding potential scholarships, not the selection committee. Evaluate your strenghts and weakness so that you may turn whats been a weakness of your past applications into a strength. If your a poor writer, consult an english professor in reference to your ability and how it can be improved. Remember only the best applications gets selected, so make yours the best.

After almost 5years on this website, checking daily, updating personal information and applying to those scholarships I do meets the requirements and even some of which I do not, I have yet to win any type of scholarship and even $50. I have not even gotten a job or internship either. Its a disappointment but it never hurts to keep on trying:(

I have recieved no scholarships even though have applied for hundreds on this site for the past 4 years. I am a college sophomoe with a 3.9 and am on the deans list. I still can't win squat. I just keep trying hoping to luck out. But have the stuff they give me I not even qualified for. Every time I update my profile its the same old stuff I already deleted. A lot of it is for high school even though my profile says I'm in college. My school hasn't given me anything but federal student loans.

With all these negative comments about fastweb, i dont think i want to sit here and waist my time applying for these scholarships. It makes no sense to do that if i will never recieve anything. I cant believe that only 3% of ppl using fastweb got something... Thats a crazy knowing the number of people with uses the website. thats less than half of the people who uses this website. it seems to me like a rip off... and why does it take that long to get a response? by the time you get anything it would be time to graduate...

Danielle Brown
2008-06-03 13:05:44 ET

I haven't read all the previous comments, but I have received over two years tuition in schlarships, about 90 percent I learned about from my high school. Like I tell people who ask how I get so many scholarships, the money is out there you just have to be involved and have the right type of major. I do not write more than two page essays for scholarships so I don't fill out all scholarships.

I can honestly relate to many of you. I have been on fastweb for 4 years, and have never recieved a penny. As of now I am not hopeful, but hearing your comments, and seeing the poll has made me feel alot better. Congrats to the very few of those who won but understand that you are the minority...

I have been using this site since 2003, and would constantly apply for scholarships at least four times a week for many of them, and I would only apply to the ones I qualified for. Never received one, I have been managing with student loans that I will be drowning in when I graduate. The same reasons as many people have comments below, the only reason I kept applying and using fast web for years, is because I could really use a scholarship and thought that every time I applied there was a chance that I would finally get one. But to my disappointments I never won anything. I find that it's unfair because in one breath society want young black males in school and in another breath society and NO body else wants to lean a helping hand

You all need to quit crying. If every one recieved a scholarship then, there wouldnt be any to give out. No matter how much your life sucks, someone has it worste than you. If you really want to pay for school, get a job. I have 2 jobs, work 65 hours a week and go to school full time. My gpa is a 3.5. Quit complaining, quit crying and take care of your self. It makes absolute since that only 3 percent have answered yes. Think of how many broke college students have signed up for this service. Not everyone can win, and I'm positive that not everyone has voted. I need scholarships to, but im not going to waste my time crying when i dont get one. Its not that hard making through college once you hit reality. All this time, mommy and daddy have been handing everything to you, and now this hard time that your going through is just a reallity check. Its alot harder to grasp when the money has to come out of your pocket.

I've been using fastweb (and other scholarship databases) for the past four years. I, like many other individuals, have not recieved a scholarship through this service. Something that I think everyone hast to realize is that the scholarships on this database are on other databases as well, and thousands of students are applying for the SAME scholarships in different places. The chances are very small at winning.

However, I have recieved scholarships through my school and community programs. My advice: if you see a scholarship on here that interests you, try searching for a similar thing through your school or community. Dollars to doughnuts says that there is something out there with fewer applicants with the same concept behind it. It's the way I went, and I got three grand out of it.

Hmmmm...

I am also surprised that out of 21,952 votes, only 565 people have won anything. I am desperate for college funds, and I hope to be # 566. If not, I think I'm done applying for scholarships after this semester. It's not fastweb's fault, its a lack of funding and assistance to needy college students.

This comment is really to respond to ME that posted that comment on June 5 it's not the point if mommy and daddy been taking care of you your whole life but for some people they didn't have mommy nor daddy so please that mean that they had to provide and take care of themselves. Secondly theres no one crying the fact of the matter is this why have a website where every one can join thats in and for example out of 100 people only give 3 come on now thats not even 1/4 of the people. And you right college is not hard I congratulate you on what you do, and I'm not a person to just see it from one person view so before you sit here and pat yourself on your back look I'll do it for you but next time please think about others not just about yourself
God Bless

You people complaning that you haven't won any scholarship on fastweb, it's not fastweb fault that you have not won scholarship, fastweb just brought the scholarship to you and they will ask you to apply for it. So don't blame fastweb. I said no too.

It is sad that this website is dedicated to helping people get scholarships, but majority of the members have not received one scholarship from the help of this website.

OH WELL, I CAN AGREE WITH ANOTHER COMMENT ABOUT THE GENERAL GRAMMAR AND SPELLING HERE. GOOD GRIEF! IT'S "SENSE" THAT MEANS HAVING SOME BRAINS IN YOUR HEAD. IT'S "SINCE" THAT MEANS FROM THAT TIME ON. WONDER WHY NO ONE IS GETTING ANY SCHOLARSHIPS? NO ONE IS GUARANTEED ANYTHING IN THIS LIFE. YOU CAN TRY, AND HAVE FAITH-AND WHAT IS MEANT TO HAPPEN WILL HAPPEN. TRY TO BE GRATEFUL AND WORK HARD. I HAVE TWO KIDS WORKING THIS WEBSITE AND I GUESS ACCORDING TO THE NUMBERS WE'LL BE LUCKY TO GET ANYTHING.

I didn't win a scholarship yet, but I am not giving up hope. If I can have a 4.5 GPA in high school and was in the top 3 percent of my class any thing is possible. Some people are just more lucky than others. I was sad and felt down a few times when I saw my little sister getting scholarships, as well as some peers. I kept asking my self what am I doing wrong? I will not give up yet, and I know in my heart if I win one I will start to cry. Best of luck every one.

I am a part of the 82% that has not won any scholarship money using fastweb.com I am an upcoming college sophomore with a 3.9 GPA, and I find that this website is only useful to high school seniors. I still continue to use this website though in the hopes of one day coming across a scholarship for me. No hard feelings though, my time will come!

after seeing this poll, i've decided im through with fastweb. such an alarming amount of negative responces to people having success with fastweb. to me this pool shows that fastweb is a complete utter failure. congratulations to the few of you who have won and good luck to those who wish to continue using this site

A few words of advice from someone in the scholarship world:

1. Learn to use spellcheck. Many applications are rejected due to errors in spelling and just plain poor writing.

2. Ask for advice on how you can become a better scholarship applicant. Things like volunteer service, leadership and areas of expertise definitely tip the scales.

3.Your odds of winning a scholarship are still better than playing the lottery.

4. There are many, many awards for students who are currently enrolled in college. They just might be a bit harder to find, and will most likely be merit-based. So do well your first year!

Good luck out there.

I've been searching for scholarships using this site for bout 1 and a half years, and I haven't won anything either. I find it interesting how many people haven't won anything despite how much I get told that people win them all the time. I'm always told that there's "money just waiting to be won" but if it's just waiting, then why haven't I won anything yet?

I would just like to throw out there that I am a valedictorian who has got a 32 on the ACT and I haven't recieved a penny from fastweb! And I have been using it for a year. People should focus on trying to win local scholarships instead of relying on Fastweb.

I got a scholarship going into college, a very good one too. $15,000 per year with allowance for books, and a stipend each month. Unfortunately the people who gave me the scholarship money also decided that I couldn't use it for a very moronic reason. Now I don't have a scholarship anymore

well matt dickerson, imagine how the rest of us feel, when even you cant get a scholarship. many of us dont just rely on fastweb, but still come up empty handed no matter what. i dont think its considered complaining if you apply to a variety of scholarships (not just on fastweb), work extra jobs, acquire loans and do everything else you can to pay for school. i am beginning to think that this whole "millions of dollars in scholarship money" ideal is a farce.

I signed up excited about writing essays and filling out forms in hopes of winning some sort of scholarship. Unfortunately, Fastweb has become quite popular. There are 27,211 people alone who answered the poll and chose that they have never won a scholarship. That alone shows me that I'm never ever going to win anything through this site. I feel like I'd be better off begging for money on the streets. I feel like I am a good writer and I put effort into all the essays and forms I write, but there is always someone better, especially in a crowd of hundreds of thousands of highschool and college students all fighting for scholarships. Fastweb also doesn't post scholarships that you can get just for being a female with english decent under 18 and other random scholarships. I'm a little dissapointed in this whole arrangement.

I have done so many scholarships and nothing! I think it is better to stick to local scholarships. At least u have a chance in actually getting something. I login to fastweb when I have nothing else better to do.

I feel very fortunate to have won scholarhips with stats like that (though none came from Fastweb). My advice to all you hopefuls out there is to do as many scholarships as you can (you DO have better odds that way!) And nothing against Fastweb, but put more energy into local scholarships from your community or your school, where the organizations are likely to know you and competition will be less than on a website open to everyone from everywhere. When writing your essay, get all your thoughts out on paper, then revise. Getting your idea out can be the hardest part! Always proofread, and it can be helpful to have someone else proofread for you as well. Spelling and grammatical mistakes do NOTHING to help you win a scholarship. A piece of advice my English teacher gave me was to stop using contractions - it makes your essay sound more academic. My last piece of advice is to be honest, sincere, and heartfelt. A poor story/idea - even told beautifully - may not be as good as an amazing story told without perfect paper skills. Don't think you have an amazing story? Think again! My first winning scholarship essay was about my less than perfect relationship with my family. Seriously! Best of luck to everyone out there (though I'm not sure why I'm wishing my competition luck :D, I guess I'm just nice or something), chin up, stay hopeful, and cheers to education in our futures (that IS why we are applying for these monotonous scholarships, right?) Haha.

OK, I have used Fast Web for about a year now and applied to everything that I could have had any chance in the world at wining. Guess how many I have won? NONE! I do not blame fast web for me not helping me win a single scholarship, What I do balm them for is inaccurate information. I found a scholarship on their web site. I thought about applying to it, but since the deadline was in a few months and school was still in I decided to wait until after school to work on it. Needless to say I did not even win it because I could not enter it. Why could I not enter it was because fast web said that the due date was a month after the date I checked the site note three . This has happened countless times to me along with misinformation and postings of scholarships that are no longer in exsistance. After I signed up with Fast Web I also had the **** spamed out of me. So much so that I had to get a new e-mail address. Don't sign up with Fast Web, all it really is is an advertising site for universities like ITT. (Nothing wrong with going to such a place for an education) The only financial aid that I have received is a 6.5k deans scholarship from my school. Goody 6.5k out of 25K, and I cant even get a job as the area I live in is in a big recession right now.
