'Biomolecular archaeology' and 'ancient biomolecules' are not synonymous as it is possible to do biomolecular archaeology by studying modern DNA only - look at all the work on human migrations based on modern DNA analysis, and the similar work on origins of agriculture using modern crop genetics. Changing the symposium to 'ancient biomolecules' cuts off this whole branch of biomolecular archaeology, and suggests that the modern and ancient approaches are different subjects, when what we should be doing is bringing them together. It would certainly be a pity if this symposium went from being science-led to technique-led, which a change to 'ancient biomolecules' implies.
