Have you ever really looked around and seen how many of those bags are stuck up in trees, blowing around the side of the road and hung up in fences? I know I'm tired of picking them off my fences. At least paper falls apart and won't kill livestock that might chew on it or eat it. USE YOUR OWN BAGS!

Maybe it will help the timber industry in Northern Ca. once again become a valuable commodity. Correct me if I'm wrong but the tree huggers were the ones that wanted alternatives to wood products. Wood is a renewable resource.

15 years ago they thought the plastic bag was the greatest. Save the trees, blah blah blah. Now this great invention is the new evil. Come on people let's kill some trees, that's what GOD put them here for. However I think a ban is just another rule to control everything, give us a break, before you know it you won't be able to do anything.

I prefer that you not call us "tree huggers" thank you. Yeas, plastic is bad, it emits chemicals to the ocean and in the case of plastic bottles, to us. If we have any plastic at all, recycle it! Use it over and over, because a lot of this plastic will be here for a long time to come. And yeas, wood is good. They just need to keep the rate at which chopping it all down low. And they should use recycled wood products, it'd help. But we really should be using our own bags that are not wood or plastic when going to the store or something, that'd help the most.

Yep - agree with comments above re: all the hoopla a few years back by the envoro-*&@#%^$ about oh so bad paper bags. Trees ARE a renewable resource. Bring your own bags are a great idea but realistically most folks would forget to take them when they shop. I'm tired of ban this and that's bad for the environment. I can think of other things that environmentalists thought would cure some of the Earth's ills and tuned out to be worse....

Hahah, to the above, we humans just mess up everything in sight don't we? Ohky, not everything, but we should just go back to simpler, I know, NOT realistic. But whatever, that's what I think, one being in the face of too many. If they just plant more trees after cutting down, and think about the animals habitats too!

How about making your next poll "where everyone thinks human's are on the food chain"! Styrofoam should be banned.
