I've been watching Obama's Youtube channel regularly for months now and one Obama supporter keeps popping up in videos over and over, more than any Obama surrogate, almost as many as Michelle. That person is Kathleen Sebelius. I really get the feeling that the Obama campaign is grooming her for the VP spot. I think she's the person HE wants and trusts. Just go to his youtube channel barackobamadotcom and see for yourself.

That's lot of votes for a guy who's stated that he's not interested. Seemed pretty definitive to me. I agree with George.

Seriously, you really aren't running a valid poll on this issue if you don't at least include Hillary who is not only still in the race but has almost as many democratic votes as Obama. At least try to be fair and not bias your polls by leaving out valid choices and putting in someone like Tim Roemer, who no one really thinks should get the nod as VP.

I am sorry. Sibelius would be a catastrophic choice which would split the party, anger Clinton supporters and be seen as such a personal snub at Clinton that I fear he would lose the election on that move alone. If he chooses a woman, it must be Hillary, or at least she needs to refuse it first. Clinton haters need not reply as your hatred gets the better of your political judgment. Just think hard about the task of unifying the party and ensuring that Clinton has a chance to rally her people to Obama.

Well that would be the ultimate irony. Clinton supporters objecting to a fully-qualified candidate solely because she's a woman. I think there might be some initial bitterness, but they would quickly realize this position is quite ridiculous and frankly, extremely sexist. But you're right, Hillary declining or saying she doesn't want he spot would help.

I like Jim Webb better than any of the other choices. But haven't the pundits said that he won't be chosen because of the risk that Democrats would lose that senate seat to a Republican if Jim Webb is elected Vice President? Is this a valid reason not to choose someone?

OK ... Tom Daschle, Tim Roemer and Kathleen Sebelius are on the list (maybe I'm ignorant but I've never even heardany of them mentioned) but Hillary and Joe Biden aren't?? For what it's worth, my pick would be Webb with Biden a close second.

I agree with George's post from 12:18 and I actually think Sebelius would be a very strong choice. Female, social moderate, a peace-offering to the Red States, daughter of Irish Catholic Democrat Governor of Ohio. As far as it being a snub to HRC? My solution: have Obama's friends pay off the Clintons' campaign debt (or at least give a LOT of help), give HRC's staffers some plum assignments, then ask HRC to introduce Sebelius to the Convention.

Jim Webb has a habit of blurting out every thought that pops into his mind. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but it's definitely not the sort of thing that people are accustomed to where the vice-presidency is concerned. Also Webb has a record-- going back 20+ years-- of saying things that are not simply "moderate" or even "conservative" but positively "right-wing", at least as most Democrats define those terms. A lot of his writing is very reminiscent of Pat Buchanan's. I really think, when it's all said and done, that he is just too conservative for the national ticket. IF Obama feels pressure to go with "National Security Experience" as his decisive criteria for the VP nomination, then I think he'll go with Wes Clark or Joe Biden.

Guarantee Virginia with Tim Kaine

I chose Jim Webb, because I believe Democrats should take Virginia, but I would much prefer Tim Kaine, the former Governor of Virginia.

Why'd you leave off Ted Strickland? Son of a steelworker, ordained minister, appeals to Republicans, popular governor of a must-win, large midwestern swing state. What's not to like?

I agree that Joe Biden should be on the list and would be a top tier choice. However, the individual who might be the best choice may not be available - Mark Warner. He's a former Governor. Has a business background. Is popular with the working class, NASCAR crowd, and would almost guarantee Virginia going Democratic in the fall. An Obama-Warner ticket could be electrifying and would emphasize the Obama message of change and a new generation. Is there any way, any way at all, that Warner gets the VP nod and that someone else steps into the Senate race?
