There are many ways this question could be worded, and it's not possible to truly get an accurate poll no matter how it is worded. I happen to believe that the rule should be that taping and recording should always be allowed unless the tournament director believes there is good reason not to, but I also believe that if any player in the Novice division objects, taping should be banned. I can understand why novice players could be uncomfortable with this, and everyone else should simply get used to it. Taping and recording is good for the game.

A tripod and camcorder looming over the board is just another cheesey way to intimidate your opponent. It's ranks up there with pulling the board to your side of the table and flashing a camera in his eyes every other move. If you really need to archive the game, have a spectator write down the moves.
