Migrate, I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time, and Side Effects are my top and only picks for 3rd single. After Bye Bye, another ballad isn't a good idea. ITC is my 2nd least favorite song on the album after TMB and its a big chart risk, especially in the US, so no to it. I'm suprised at how many votes it has, actually. Migrate, I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time are somewhat outside the box for her, especially single wise from the perspective of the general public. Migrate has hit written all over it. My only concern is that stations, such as Hot 97 are already playing it alot, so by the time its official, they wont play it anymore. But there is plenty more they could subtitute for it since its a great album and DJs play what they and their listeners like, single or not. IBLULT is that breezy pop thing that just makes everyone feel good and it intro and bridge are so catchy. SE has enough drama to sell for a while and its really different and shows a different side of her to most people (non hardcore fans). My ideal situation is Migrate as the 3rd, Side Effects as the 4th, then I Stay in Love or For The Record as the fifth, and I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time as the 6th.

Love Story, I'm sorry, is the weakest track on the album. "Migrate" needs to be released soon before it runs out like "Say Something" did. "I'm That Chick" is the strongest on the album and should be released after that, followed by "Cruise Control" and then they should service "I Stay In Love" to R&B stations and "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" to pop ones. "Love Story" should be an album track not a single. Yes, I have thought too much about this.

I'm sorry, but releasing "I Stay In Love" as the next single would be SUICIDE for this album! It's WAY too slow and doesn't get interesting til the very end of the song then it just stops when she actually starts singing her butt off! NO WAY! It's not single-worthy at all in my opinion, radio would ignore that one! Third single needs to be either "Migrate" or "I'll Be Lovin U Long Time"! Listening to those songs right off the bat you know they're hits! They are radio smashes waiting to happen and show Mariah exploring different musical territories! They are also multi-format songs so Pop, Rhythmic and Urban stations would all gravitate toward them which means they are strong contenders for #1. "I'm That Chick" isn't bad, but I don't believe it's single-worthy. Cute song, don't see it exploding and being a smash like some fans think it will.
I think Cruise Control would be perfect for summer. It's up-tempo, love the lyrics (bottle broken, tink I'm jokin - seriously), and it's just a feel good song. Migrate is getting tired already - somebody mentioned the Say Somethin' effect, and I agree. Other than that I would love Heat as a summer single - esp now that she has a legal boo. I just love the chorus, and I think all girls can relate.

For the Record from the latest album has a really classy and unique sound and also is reminscent of previous Mariah hits. The strings, melody, the thing that Mariah does with the phrasing at eh beginning of some of the lines, the production--all of the elements combine to make this a memorable and singable track. I think it would do very well as a single.

Let it be "LOVE STORY" .. Mariah wants to savor the feeling of being in love ... simply because she just got married ..
I think that the next single should be "Love Story". I don't know if everyone has forgotten Emancipation but two of her number one hits were ballads with slow lyrics that everyone could sing to. She already has a hit from an up tempo with "Touch My Body". "Love Story" is another "We Belong Together" waiting to happen. Check the stretched out words in the chorus that everyone, including toddlers, can sing to. "When you left I lost a part of me..." compared to "This isn't just another love story, together we'll make history..." I actually thought that "We Belong Together" was a slow one to be a single on the last album but then it grew on me while everyone else loved it to death. I am sure it will be a hit. "I Stay In Love" is really the slowest most uninteresting track on the album. Fans probably like it because it reminds them of Music Box or Daydream; maybe even Emotions. It's just not a single for these times. I can't even imagine a remix being made for that song. I would love "Cruise Control" as a single; not the next one. I just don't think people are really feeling it like that. I also feel that "Last Kiss" would be a successful single. It sounds like another "Don't Forget About Us" follow up ballad. It should do well after "Love Story". Don't sleep, the JD productions are the money makers. Really really dont think Migrate would be a good choice because non mariah fans will not understand it and think its just another mariah loving herself song, which we all know is not the case. But for a more wide broaded choice that will get into everones head "Ill be loving you long time" seems the most universal and best choice for summer. The third single should be LOVE STORY!!!!!! The song is a great song. Many of the fans want to put out a song that shows Mariah blowing and belting and whistling, like in I Stay In Love. I love it when she does that, but other people hate it. Everyone that I know who does not like Mariah always says that she is doing too much. If they can't sing along with it then they won't enjoy it. Love Story is a hot song that people can sing along with. When she made Daydream did she release Open Arms? NO, she released Always Be My Baby. A song everyone could sing. She did release Forever after that, and how did that fare? When she released the single Butterfly, which is still one of my favorites of all time, it did awful on the charts. Time and time again we have seen that the more simple songs, i.e., Dream Lover, Always Be My Baby, One Sweet Day, Honey, and We Belong Together get Mariah to the top of the charts. We ocassionally may get a good vocally acrobatic song in like My All and all the songs from the very first album. But times are changing. Why do you think that the only 1# hit from Beyonce's last album, which had plenty of hot songs in it, was Irreplacable. Its a good song but it had nothin on the others. People could sing to it. I agree with the guy about the songs in the last album that were successful being fairly slow songs that were catchy. Everyone can relate to love songs. I think Mariah has a winning formula and she should stick to it. But bedides what others think. I always play Love Story back to back a few times in my listening sequence. I love that song!!! I STAY IN LOVE is a song which people can relate to; it's much more melodicious and emotional than WE BELONG TOGETHER. We have had those fun songs and personal songs before, so now it's time to hit an emotional love song - I STAY IN LOVE!!!! MIGRATE will not work its way to the top coz it has been around for quite a while! I really hope that Mariah reads this--because it's no coincidence that 75% of the people here are saying the same thing...Love Story should NOT be the third single. I'm a big Mariah fan, but that song is so week compared to the other ones. The thing is that Mariah LOVES that song, specially since Nick came along. It might be a sweet song for them, but not for the public. The song isn't commercial enough. I also agree that Bye Bye might not have been a good choice--actually it wasn't a bad choice either. What messed it up was that she pushed the video back, by like 2 or 3 weeks. Why? Nick Cannon. I'm glad that they're married, and happy. That's great, but I hope that she doesn't start slacking, specially in such an amazing album like this one. She performed Bye Bye on Oprah, and American Idol--then the song had a debut at the 23rd spot, which was great. What she needed to do was release the video that same week, or the following week. But no, she pushed it back because of the whole marriage thing, and the song went down twice. It probably would've been number 1 by now. The momentum for the album has gone down. Migrate actually should've been the second single. Cause even though Touch My Body isn't considered a ballad, it isn't a danceable track either, and many people were waiting for Mariah's club banger hit specially after hearing Migrate on SNL. Mariah, PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE LOVE STORY. Migrate should be third single--though I really wanted Lovin' U Long Time to be a summer hit, but the album needs a quick hit, and that's Migrate. So I'd say Migrate as the third single. I Stay In Love as the fourth. I'm that Chick would be a good winter track, and so would be Side Effects. Then she definitely needs to release Lovin' U Long Time at some point, whether as 4th, 5th, or 6th single. And Side Effects is such a powerful song, musically, and lyrically, and such a new sound for Mariah, that it would be a huge hit. She could easily have 6, or 7 singles if she makes the right moves, and comes out with the right singles at the right times. One thing for sure, Love Story shouldn't be a single, and hope that the she listens to her fans on this one. Because if not even the fans like it that much, then imagine the rest of the world. I Stay In Love, and Last Kiss are way more marketable, as well as just being incredibly catchy songs--from the first few seconds that I heard both, I was in love with them. Mariah please listen to your fans.

Migrate will give "face" to E=MC2 which was big in the beginning but now starting to tumble down the chart. For The Record, Side Effects, I Stay in Love should make the single too. Last Kiss is much better than Love Story. I prefer that for the last single.

Love Story is my least favorite song on the album and I'm positive that it will not be a smart move to release it as a single. I will not be surprised if I will see clippings of Mimi and Nick on their honeymoon, on rollercoaster, or even on their intimate moments on the video (just like in Bye bye video which is so very inappropriate maybe that's why it's not doing well on the charts) coz it's all given on the song itself and it's too much. When Mimi decided to keep the relationship secret, it's a smart move and I say Mariah, just keep it as it is. Just keep your "love story" a secret and continue on what you do best. So, I'm listening to old school pop music, and "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" fits in well with 70's Disco! Anyways, I think "For the Record" would be a good 4th single, and then "I Stay in Love" could be released early next year. After that, "I'm That Chick" could be next year's "stone groove" summer smash. And the last single should be "Cruise Control" and, "I Wish You Well" could be a promo that she sings along with watever for the following year's grammies! I think that would be a cool idea! Even if she releases the worst songs on the album (Side Effects, Thanx 4 Nothin', and OOC), they're still gonna be hits, just not #1's (except maybe T4N since it's half-way decent). Whatever, I'm not Mariah Carey so she gets to decide what happens with "E=MC2."
Hi everyone! I think there aren't "worst" songs on E=MC2 just like some of you say. The entire album is amazing and one of the best she had ever made. You should say "there are less comercial songs" not worst, get it? I'll Be Lovin' You Time, ummmmm it's no the best choice but it's better than Love Story don't you think?(also a great a song but not for a single right now) It'd have been great Migrate, hope to be the 4th!!! Ok here goes, ive been a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of Mariahs since Daydream, however, I cant help but feel extremely disappointed in her the past month or two, and im sure im not the only one of her fans to feel this way. First the wedding to someone 11 years younger than her after dating for 30 days with no pre-nup (I MEAN CMON MARIAH), now it seems as though she is becoming careless with this album. Lately she is reminding me more and more of Michael Jackson (the whole "im eternally 12" or the rollercoaster, shutting down a theme park fiasco). Im happy she found love but she needs to start using her brain before Nick leaves her and takes half of everything she has which will lead to us (the fans) having to deal with another Mariah Breakdown. i absolutely LOVE the album, but if she chooses Love Story as a single, then she does not deserve to be #1 bc that song is not a hit and never will be. Migrate, I stay in love, cruise control, side effects, that chick, for the record, and bye bye all blow love story out of the water. I love you so much Mariah, but if you wanna continue to break records, then stop putting songs YOU love before songs THE WORLD loves.

I love "I'll Be Loving You Long" but I LOVE "Cruise Control".......IMO Mariah is the Queen of collobs....I've been wanting her to do a reggae sound after she did Breakdown. In my opinion "Cruise Control" is just really laid back and a great summer jam. For me reggae just screams - beach, fun, "no problem"!! :) Besides I would love to see the male interest in the video....he's got to be REALLY FINE to have 6 baby mammas and still peak your interest!! :) Also I would love to hear the story behind the colloboration with one of the sons of Bob Marley!! I really don't think Mariah desides everything alone for the next single, I actually think that she should've chosen: Migrate as the first single (because T-Pain is really big in the U.S. today) and I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time as the second.. but she didn't because I don't think she cares about sales anymore. My favorites on the album is (I Wish You Well, I'll Be Lovin', I'm That Chick and I Stay In Love) but that does not mean they are good single candidates. In my opinion, Mariah should have released I'M THAT CHICK as her first single before she actually releases the album coz it's smooth, sexy and very cute song to begin with in the summer. I think migrate is one of the best commercial song if its get released at the right time. I think releasing "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" is a tragic mistake. I am certain it will fare as poorly, if not worse than "Bye Bye" on the charts, which will begin to make this album, which has MANY potential chart toppers, to look like a failure. Island/Def Jam has already stopped promoting Janet's album after her first failed single, "Feedback". How many commercial flops will they grant Mariah before this album is no longer promoted. They (meaning anyone at the label involved in deciding on the singles) are killing this album by releasing some of the worst tracks!!! So sad. Please get some sense, people, and release some of the following (as many others on here have already implored you to do): "Migrate", "Cruise Control", "I'm That Chick", "Stay In Love" and/or "Love Story".
I am a Japanese and live in Japan, so what I think over this topic can be a bit misplaced and incorrect. I feel like her record company has seemed a little out of touch and less intuitive in terms of potential single choice. When most of her fans and radio stations in US showed a lot of initial enthusiasm over Migrate and I stay in love, they went for the least popular song among fans as a single choice. The problem I have in terms of Bye Bye was her record company's implicit attitude to play it safe with banality. The litany of bye bye in the song makes listeners feel sleepy and tedious even though the song itself has a very spiritual message. I am afraid people who make the single choice in her company appear to be too old or a bit out of touch with younger generation. I hope someday Migrate or Side effect will be chosen as a single. They have a potential and energy undeniably.

Why BYE BYE will never score a no.1? The main reason is the song is boring, the message is kinda predictable, and not something everyone would want to listen repeatedly. Plus the album is supposed to be a happy festive album with those fun songs TMB, ILYLT, I'm that chick, And BYE BYE IS A SAD SONG THAT WILL NOT FIT IN THIS CATERGORY! Well you no wut, her whole album is the chitt..But i think migrate would do the best radio wise..cuz all this lil wayne chitt. he is a pig..migrate would be so hot in the clubs, and i can imagine how hott the video would be..I think it has the potential to be a number one..Mariah deserves it anyway..luv u always babygurl..
