i got nothin so far...but im steady praying for a scholarship because i don't want to go to a jc or some school that i have to settle for because of a money issue....yeah right!!

Nope, and I'm losing hope after having applied for hundreds, having a great gpa and everything, and always being turned down.

don't give up!! i have applied for hundreds over the last few years but if you keep trying, you will get some! even if they are only a few hundred dollars, that is SO many hours you will not have to work at your job :] good luck!!

This year alone, I applied for 300 scholarships. Some were simple sweepstakes type applications, while others were very time consuming applications and essays. I was fortunate enough to win a few smaller award scholarship this year, and I am very grateful for each one because it helps me to keep my loan dollars down. But, I do admit that is scholarship thing is a bit discouraging at times. After putting so much time into filling out applications and writing essays, I was hoping my efforts would have been more fruitful. I have the grades, recommendations, activities, etc, so I am not quite sure what I am doing wrong. Maybe this scholarship bootcamp can show me the error of my ways.

I have not applied for a scholarship on fastweb but have applied for 4 scholarships offered at my local community college. I received 3 out of 4 of the scholarships that I applied for totaling 6,000 dollars. It's very time consuming and requires detailed criteria.There are no tricks to receiving a scholarship... but showing a determined area of focused study, (mine is nursing) and your ability to give back to society, and how you plan to to so, is a good start. Read the scholarship criteria carfully, and met the criteria in your essay. Have a couple of english majors proof read, then rewrite, then have a marketing buddy take a look, and rewrite, and proof read again. I always read my application and essay as if I were on the awarding commitee...how does my essay make me feel? Do I believe in me? Do I convey determination and spirit that will set me apart from other applicants? Make sure everything is correct and true. You must have good grades and community sevice(documented). Send it off on time. Pray, I did. Always, always, always send a letter of thanks expressing your gratitude to those who have made it possible for you to receive funds.... tell them how it has helped you. (Again, put yourself in their place.) And the bottom line is..... you have to show financial need and prove it with documentation. Hope this helps.....Good Luck!

It has being more than a year now since I finished my high school,each time I dream of becoming a college student,I see my dreams crumbling because my family just can't afford to send me to college.
My father stopped working some year before I was borne and it has not easy for the family ever since he lost his job.My mother try so hard to support the family but her effort wasn't sufficient.
My problems actually started in 1997 when every things turned against me,my mother feel ill due to stress of over working herself.My ordeal really began when we lost her to that illness when i was 9 years old,and ever since then our family has not being the same.later my two elderly sisters and a brother whom are suppose to support the family also died.

I really am in need of scholarship because i have been accepted to Epic Aviation of which am supposed to pay a fee of 57990 u.s dollars in order to sturdy,my dad has paid the first instalment of registration of800 dollars then i have been given letter of acceptence.The fee is too much for my dad and i would be glad to recieve a scholarship so that i can go sturdy and archieve my ambition of becoming a pilot.

The only scholarship that I have ever got was from my high school FFA Alumni because I worked hard for them. I'm so broke right now from school and I hate not being able to work during school. I had to stop working because nursing school is so hard.

I graduated high school last May with a 4.06 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), 100+ hours of community service, 4-year involvement in clubs and track and field. I earned honors/awards in literature, business education, science, and in track. I am also a minority, and I am considered to have financial need. My parents cannot afford to send me to college, so I have to win scholarhips to be able to go to college. For the past two years, I have applied to scholarship after scholarship after scholarship. When the time came for me to enroll in college for the Fall 2008 semester, I had not won a single scholarship. Since I did not have the money, I was forced to postpone college. About a week after I postponed my college enrollment, I found out that I finally won a scholarship. It was a nice scholarship worth $2500, but a requirement for receiving it was providing verification of college enrollment for the Fall 2008 semester. Because money prevented me from enrolling in college, I had no choice but to forfeit the one scholarship I actually won. That hurts even more than not winning at all. I have not given up applying for scholarships, but I get more and more discouraged each time I lose a scholarship. I don't have a car, and I live in the country, so I can't even work to raise money for college. I am just praying that my hard work starts paying off, and I start getting the scholarships I so desperately need and deserve.

Also, www.fastweb.com, www.scholarships.com, and www.scholarshipexperts.com are scholarship search engines. Registration is free, and when finish registering, you receive a list of scholarships that you qualify for. If you click on a particular scholarship, the page will either tell you how to apply for it or give you a link to the scholarship application. I warn you, filling out an application does not guarantee winning the scholarship (just read everybody's comments). Over the last four years I have spent an enormous amount of time filling out scholarship forms, writing essays, and jumping through all the major hoops of every scholarship of which I was eligible yet in all that time with all that work I have yet to receive a letter stating I won or even one stating I did not win. Sometimes I wonder if Fastweb waits until the end of the deadline to throw out a name and match it to a stock photograph of a man or woman with the words, "I won my scholarship," below the happy photo.

The horrid state of the economy lowers moral while at the same time lowers any chances for the few scholarships available. Then, we have George W. Bush and his sidekick Dick Cheney to thank for lying to the citizens of the United States by presenting known false evidence and having members of his administration back up these false claims.

Worst still is the fact that Bush used the tragedy of 9/11 to perpetrate a brain-washing scam in an attempt to make everyone believe the Iraqi leader was responsible; Bush went so far as to attack a sovereign nation in order to perpetuate a kangaroo court-sanctioned murder against a tyrant but not a murderer responsible for the 9/11 tragedies. Then, to make matters worse, this administration's president and vice-president refuse to turn over court-ordered documents by proclaiming the presidency as a separate entity above the law. All the while leaving the country so far in debt the debt counter had to be taken down because the debt was larger than the counter had digits available.

Why has congress not impeached this president, his vice-president, and members of his administration on crimes against humanity, crimes against the people of the United States, illegal wire-tapping of American citizens through the unlawful use of secret warrants. Why has this congress not put a stop to the plundering of this country's national income to prevent this president from using the tax payers' money like his own personal petty cash fund? my name is Jeylani and i was born in Kenya. when i camed in the USA i wasnt speaking English at all and i speak 4 differenet luagauge and English is my 5th luagauge im doing good with learning different. I need scholarship because my family is poor and my mother and father dont have a jobs. they need help from me and im not working. I left high school some years back, and fees turned to be a problem. Am a single parented and in last year God helped me through a certain well wisher who provided fees for one term and i joined Scott theological college in Machakos -Kenya. I never received any scholarship, and school administration has declared not to continue keeping me in the institution with big balance, and I am now at home. I just wanted to say that 9 months ago, I posted comment here telling of the struggles I have gone through to get a single scholarship. Today, after 2 years of applying to every scholarship I can (amounting to around 100), I finally won a scholarship. God has blessed me so much, and I feel I must pass on a piece of wisdom to those desperate for some hope. You can WIN a scholarship. It is not impossible. I will admit that at times, I wanted to give up. However, by the grace of God, I always found the will to keep trying. I promise you that when you finally win your much needed/deserved scholarship, you will experience on of the greatest feelings of your life. May God bless all of you.

P.S. - Here are some websites I used to look for scholarships: Fastweb.com, scholarships.com, scholarshipexperts.com, and zinch.com. I also used to google to look for specific scholarships. For example, I would google scholarships for accounting majors, female, etc. I hope that helps.
