Even if my own father, whom I dearly love, were the Pastor of a church that I had attended my entire life, I would LEAVE the congregation. I am a Hillary supporter-truly, deeply and passionately. I am tired of the Wright issue. I don't llike the video of the comments that have been shown over and over and over. I watced Moyer's interview of Rev. Wright this evening. Rev. Wright is using a Biblical approach to resolving life experiences of his congregation. When watching more of the sermon rather than the brief clips the media has latched onto has helped me, a true Conservative Republican and a devoted Christian, to take comfort in Reverend Wright's explanations. I now see the broadcastings of the clips as political in nature and serve a dishonest attempt to weaken Obama as a Presidental Candidate.
By the way, the black community at large has generally been opressed. Rev Wright uses scripture to encourage his congregation by using God's work that life's challenges can create character as well as strengthen their faith.

Saying that what the Reverend (and I use that term loosely) Wright said was taken out of context is the lamest ass excuse I ever heard! I have read a few comments from those after hearing Bill Moyer on PBS
say that Rev wright was a great pastor. Not because of what he said but
how the media actual showed him speaking the hate message which were

Dr. King did not want black people to be treated with more respect, more services, more anything than white people. Dr. King stood for all of us be treated equally! EQUALLY. It is ok for a person like Don Imus to make a joke or make a mistake and get fired. How many times have we as a country because of how we have been spoon fed to "feel quilty" about America's past treatment of black people to allow black people who say such things as this "preacher" said and just look the other way? If one good thing has come out of all of this whole issue is that this man is one of the very first black men who is finally being held accountable for what he has said! Imagine the children whom this man has given an impression upon? Imagine their feelings for the Government and for white people? Our country is in a recession and for the last month all I've heard about is Rev Wright.... I'm bitter and fustrated and has decided to vote for none of the above because none of them are discussing the issues. I flipped through a bunch of different news channels and it was an echo of the same clip of Rev. Wright. True that i do not agree with the statements he made. But i thought the presidential race was with Obama not the Reverend. He was his Reverend and some of the things he said were apalling but those are his views not Obama's. Apparently he was in the church and sat through the whole sermon. That's following his religion with gusto! ha ha. But people have to look at Obama as himself not Obama as a man listening to his reverend's sermon.
I read many posts here excusing Reverend Wright's obviously false and inflammatory statements because in some areas he may have some "valid points" in his very critical view of American History. Since when do we valildate lies in one area because of valid statements in another area? Would you eat a sandwich mate of putrid bologna just because the bread was real bread? Reverend Wright has become very wealthy by preaching militant liberation theology, making speeches and selling tapes, and honoring men like Louis Farakahn. For him to say people are taking him out of context when he asserts that the US government invented the AIDS Virus with the explicit goal of killing African Americans is just patently ridiculous. He has made himself an icon in his community by standing behind the pulpit and creating an image of America that presents a very ugly picture of our country. Whe he is right, he is right. When he is wrong he is lying. Truth is not different based on our experiences or our struggles. Mr. Wright simply told several lies in his sermon and greater context cannot make them go away.

As far as Rev Wright, if I lived in Chicago, I'd love to have the opportunity to sit under a minister who could see deep truths that far too many people close their minds and hearts to see what's true. How can we ever move forward if we can never face up to where we've been. Some of you supporters of Reverend Wright are tripping over several of his lies and then asking where he is lying!! His whole black liberation theology is built on lies. His whole view of American history deals in lies. Here are just two of them.
1. The US government invented the AIDS virus. This one should be enough by itself!
2. The AIDS virus was specifically invented to kill African Americans. Pure lie.
3. The US government LIED about WMD's in Iraq. Faulty intelligence is not a lie. It is a mistake. A reverend certainly knows the difference.
4. The US government INJECTED black men with syphillis at the Tuskeege Institute. Half lie. They got it the old fashioned way. the inexcusable part was thay they were deliberately denied treatment so the advancement of the disease could be documented. Inexcusable, but not the same as having them injected on purpose.
5. Jesus was a poor black man living in a country contolled by RICH WHITE people. It thus follows that he was also EXECUTED by RICH JEWS and WHITE people. Don't you see the racism here? Jesus was poor, but he was a Jew, a semite. His death came because of sin done by people of every race. If Jesus shared some degree of black genetic material, it has not been historically established, and therefore should not be claimed in an affirmative statement in a sermon.
6. American is a place that systematically persecutes minority races, especially the black race. While there is historical truth in particular instances, there are far more people working in government and business and in ever part of society who want to see any vestiges of our checkered past reversed. Reverend Wright seems to believe that the best way to heal a wound is to pick at the scab on a regular basis.
A lie is a deliberate communication of falsehood. Whatever the motive, it is still lying. No matter how the lies appeal to your sense of sufferage, you must always guard against accepting carefully crafted lies along with truth. Reverend Wright knows perfectly well what he is doing. He also knows that most of the people he preaches to have so many grievences that they won't object to an inflammatory lie here and there. If America is such a horrible place for Black people, how does Reverend Wright explain his 10,000 square foot home on a golf course in a neighborhood where the people are seventy percent white and all are upper class? How did he manage to succeed against the evil establishment when he has made his living poking this evil system in the eye?
Reverend Wrights socialist gospel is based on false ideas about the original intent of the gospel and the teachings of Christ. It is a gospel shaped first in Latin America and then brought to American by Wright and others and adapted to the African American experience. He is a Christian Farakahn who does not hesitate to embellish his message to gain popularity among people who don't have the educational basis to oppose him, or don't care to. His ideas are dangerous precisely because they mix truth with absolute untruth. It is simply outrageous that he is crying that others are devious, when that is the perfect word to describe using the gospel of peace to deepen divisions.

The facts are that many free blacks owned slaves. In New Orleans there were as many as 3000 free blacks that owned up to 30 slaves each. If you go even farther back in history, many Black Africans owned White European slaves and captured Blacks to sell into slavery. Bottom line, it doesn't matter who was enslaving who, it's all wrong. No matter who was doing it. It happened a long time ago and it's something that we must remember so it doesn't ever happen again. But after 150 years, if we don't move on, we will never have unity in this country. Rev. Wright was race baiting for his personal gain. The home he built is in a 90% White area. In a gated community, on a golf course. If he hates Whites so much, why did he build there. Why didn't he build by his congregation.
Some are asking what Reverend Wright has to do with O'Bama. Some ask what racist statements has O'Bama made?
Reverend Wright is not an insignificant factor in the political rise and spiritual development of Barack O'Bama. Truth be told, I speculate that O'Bama's wife has as much to do with where the family attends church, but that is another topic.
If Barack O'Bama was truly oblivious to the ministeriel stance of Reverend Wright, he would have to be so clueless that he can't possibly be together enough to be president. If he actually feels the way Reverend Wright feels, he has views of his country that would make it impossible for him to govern such a diverse population with an even hand. I think something else is actually nearer the truth, and that is that Mr. O'Bama chose Trinity as his church because of the political clout and street credit he could garner as an upcoming Chicago politician. This to me means that he is a cold, calculating politician very much in the mold of the entire Chicago political machine. This means he has hand picked his church for his career and turned a blind eye to hateful, untrue statements because he benefited from the association. Either way, it makes O'Bama seem very insincere and not a NEW kind of politician at all.
Secondly, today Barack O'Bama stated that those who wouldn't vote for him because he is black are also those who disagree with his political stances. What?? Everyone who is a racist and wouldn't vote for him because of his skin color also disagree with his politics? Don't I get to choose to deny my support to Mr. O'Bama without it being about his skin color? That is a racist statement in itself. Perhaps I choose not to vote for O'Bama because I believe him to be too far left of center and i simply don't want my country to slip further towards Socialism and a nanny state reality where freedoms continue to be sacrificed for the marxist vision of utopia.
Barack O'Bama also believes that people who cling to religion and the second amendment are doing so because they are unemployed and bitter. Greta, I can not see how anyone could think a poll from FOX News would be unbiased. Anyway, the first time I heard Reverend Wright I was appalled to say the least. However, when I got a chance to hear his whole sermons and not just sound bites, I did not have a problem with him at all. As a Deacon and a responsible community leader in my church, of which I have been a member for over ten years, I have heard my Pastor say things I do not agree with, but I am intelligent enough to take what I want and discard the rest. The irony of it all is we had to go find Reverend Wright to get his snippets, yet we get to listen to Rush Limbaugh spew his divisive opinions practically everyday on the radio. I think what Limbaugh is doing with his “Operation Chaos”, telling Republicans to vote for Senator Clinton because she will bloody up Senator Obama, is destructive to our entire democracy.
The sad thing about it all is we are distracted from really looking at the direction these candidates want to take (govern) our county. I am further upset that I have so many unemployed friends along with others who are losing there homes. Still others are going without the benefit of healthcare. In just these few months I have seen my grocery bill more than double. The Iraq War is affecting several of our young families in our community. We are experiencing an astronomical rise in gas prices. Just today I paid $3.89 per gallon for gas…now what’s wrong with that?

Wendell, to add to your list of where Wright lied at: 1) his claims Romans were Italians to slur Italians with garlic remarks, when in actuality, Romans were Estrucans, Latins, and Sabines and Italians came from Germanic tribes that took over area where they lived now from Romans, such as Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Franks, and Lombards, 2) his claims Jefferson said God damned America, when in actuality, Jefferson said he trembled (worried) that God would judge America over slavery and did not want that to happened, 3) his claims founders planted slavery in America when in actuality slavery was planted in America long before they were born, and many founders attempted to end slavery, and failing at federal level, worked at state levels, especially in the North to have slavery abolished.
I heard the whole context of Wright's sermons and in actuality, the context was far worse than the little snippets. Wright got spiritual and emotional issues and is unfit to be pastor.
Also, don't forget Wright claimed America passed out drugs to blacks to have them jailed.
And his blaming America for every wars are quite laughable given Japan attacked us first. As well as his claim that America's leaders knew about pending attack on Pearl Harbor (even if we had been prepared based on that alleged knowledge and been able to beat back that attack war would have taken place anyways, but we would have started out with much better morale then we did). Japan also had every opportunity to surrender and we didn't want to lose many of our men and wiped out nearly entire population of Japan, so that was why we used A-bomb. Wright is very selective about his facts there.
And his support for antisemitic Hamas, that wanted to wipe Israel off face of the earth, while attacking Israel as apartheid, terrorist state? Slander, antisemitic, and hypocrisy there.
Lets play "what if"...(what if? we never had slavery...America grew to this great nation without the tragic slavery component)...where would our black Americans be now? In Africa, in a tribal disbute, suffering from aids, starving...did you watch IDOL GIVES BACK? Where is the majority of support going...AFRICA! Slavery, a tragic novel in America's history, resulted in blacks being Americans becoming the Oprahs, the C. Rices, the Collin Powells, etc. The beauty of being an American is we have choices and can succeed through our own efforts! Just a thought...what would I do if I were black? well its like this my dad was a coal miner he worked hard all his life. my mother was jewish and my father family was babtist .my grandfather was the paster of the old regular babtist church -but never in my life have i ever seen preachin like paster wright.and ive seen a lot of preachin that guy needs help he is a rich black preacher saying bad stuff about rich white people-then saying that clinton screwed the black people like he screwed monica lewensky-what is that all about.is that what god inspires him to preach its not the god i know and i would never stay in that church four 2 sermans little long 20 years .so i will not vote for obama because he goes to that raciest church .

ReelMan---- I watched several whole sermons and came away with, Wright is even worse than I thought after listening to his
extremely long media cuts of his vile remarks. The extremely long media cuts were not snippets, they were tirades of 4
and five minutes EACH. The big lie is that they were just short sound bytes. BULL SHIT. They were NOT out of

Greta, I admire you, and have watched your show since the day it first aired. I'm not a Fox--news fan, but watch your show. I'm not prejudced, as I have emailed CNN, NBC AND CBS. I am a white, senior Grandmother who lives in a small town in Illinois. I agree Rev. Wright should keep politics out of his pulpit, but I don't hold Barack Obama accountable for Rev. Wright's comments/actions. We could have one of the best President's this country has seen----in a long time, but it seems News Media is bent on ruining his career. Can't all News Media stop this insanity, so we can all focus on the issue's, the majority of American's want to hear. WHY----for the first time; has the NAACP conferance been televised? MSNBC did'nt televise it------only CNN and FOX. ALL news media are sounding more like rag magazines. Should we all start calling you FOX-GLOBE, CNN-ENQUIRER, MSNBC-STAR? This country has come so far with race issue's and now news media is helping to tear it all down, and now going backwards---again. The good reverend Wright put on quite a show today at the press club. He danced, did the two step, and basically avoided questions by re-wording them and giving answers that weren't answers to the questions, only modifications of them. That might work with African-Americans but it ain't gonna fool no white person or any moderately intelligent non-black. He's nothing but a P.T. Barnum, a sleight-of-hand artist, a snake oil salesman.
Blacks suffer from what I call the "OJ Simpson guilty or innocent" syndrome. Basically, if you're black you have to believe certain things, even some quite bizarre things because they are, simply, not what whites believe. That mind-set, even under the weight of the best evidence will find OJ Simpson innocent every time. Blacks don't think as individuals, they think as a group much the way many whites thought before getting a clue about what was happening to Black Americans and how wrong our attitudes, as a group, towards them were.
ROBERT NORWOOD: I guess with this election I'm finding out the same things. Black Americans think as a group. ALSO, sad to say, I'm "becoming" prejudice in a way based on the Blacks hate for White's. If a white person were to say these terrible things about the blacks then the white people would be punished in one way or another. WHY is it ok for some black americans to preach or make comments against whites (whether they be rich or poor) but it is not ok for the whites to make comments against the blacks?? This does not make sense. I know all blacks do not have the same views as Rev Wright and I think all blacks should KNOW that not all whites are racists. They are not African Americans! They are Black Americans just as whites are White Americans. My acestors are from Ireland yet I do not call myself Irish-American. I am American and I happen to be White! Therefore-White American.

I am all for killing al-Qaida behind killing Americans, but AIR STRIKES that kill 31 civilians to get 1 man? Isn't our military more skilled to do a better job so we don't bread more al-Qaida members that desire to get revenge? Think of the anger we had after 911 killed innocent Americans. We are naive if we think others won't be angered with us. Most of all... I didn't see this in the news yesterday. We don’t seem to value other lives like American lives. Thousands of innocent non-military men, women, and children have been killed in Iraq and I bet the average American couldn't tell how many civilian casualties there have been. We were too tied up with the BS the media feeds us.
