I feel you are not asking the best questions. You are assuming people listen to music to experience mood. It is far more complex than that.
Better to ask "What propells you to listen to music?"
"Do you prefer certain types of music?"
and then give a list to tick e.g. thick textured orchestral music
music with strong melodic lines
etc: etc:
and then ask what they get out of it (giving alternatives to click on)
In other words, get them involved in remembering how it feels to listen to music and then elicit the response in the field you are interested.
