What is always overlooked in this debate is that not everyone lives in large centres like Toronto or Montréal, and have access to good public transit. What about the people for whom public transit is NOT an option? I am referring to rural dwellers and also urban residents in cities such as Edmonton, where the public transit is abysmal and there is little political will to change that situation. I am sure that more people (including me) would gladly use a public transit system, if only it were improved and/or available at all.
