The people who live next to the club have been invited there to take a tour and to talk to some of the members but nobody seems to show up. Maybe it is that they never saw the building with the members only sign when they were shopping for a house but only see it when someone shuts a car door or starts a motor cycle with a valid Mass inspection sticker. That club has been there since 1921 leave the area if you do not like a little noise. As for as the drug bust what about the murder a street away are they going to try to block that street off? I live in the area and one person was handing out flyers door to door when I asked him what they were he could hardly speek English, Are they hiring people to do this. In plain English stay off my property.
The town fathers had a right to be disappointed that the club did not adhere to all the filing rules however there have not been any liquor violations and the members along with the club board have reinforced self-regulation procedures. Are the townspeople, including the selectmen, aware that the small core of abutters who are viciously criticizing the club, have gone overboard and fabricated activity at the club? What would you think if your neighbor came over to your house at night, dressed in bathrobe and slippers, and started videotaping you getting into your car on your own property? Did you know that one of the complaintants was a member of the club at one time? The club didn't outgrow the neighborhood, as is claimed, rather the property owners encroached on club property. The negative perception of the club's members by the abutters appears to be an issue of class. The abutters have no problem with club members fixing their toilets as long as the laborers keep their mouth's shut. Let's paint a more balanced picture of Raymond Place.
Peter: your words have done more to galvanize my OPPOSITION to the CC club than any news story; thanks!
Good luck getting your liquor license back.
Badger what do you mean galvinize ? I have lived in this neighberhood for 40 years That club has help me out by the people who go there many times, They are blue collor workers who will help anyone. I live close to the club and I feel really good that if I need some work done on my house I go have a beer and someone will help me out. You do not know the history of that place my grandfather helped build it, Lighten up and try to let the club do it;'s thing there are alot of good people that go there come on down and ask for me and I will go down and buy you a drink and show you how it works.
Years ago the club was a place where grandfathers, fathers, and sons would go to have a beer then when the phone rang they would all go home, Now times have changed it is mostly a place where blue coller workers go to have a drink I have been there with my daughters and my wife and when I left I felt that everone there respected me and my family to the highest degree , Those people know what the word respect means I told my daughters that if I could not be reached they are to go there if they are in need of help. The bartenters and the managmet are good people that get rid of trouble makers right away. I have seen this personally. That place is really special to people who live here for many years
