Frequently the Games bring people of all nations together and promote harmony and connectedness. But that was tainted by Hitler. And it is tainted again now. Sadly. And I don't think we can pretend otherwise.

i like the irony of how the "internationalist spirit" of the games always promotes the unity of nations and bringing peoples of the world together... through competition... and then the winners have their respective national anthems played, and then they arrive back home to a national hero's welcome for having defeated the losing competitors and their loser countries...
